I was going to TAS and do some homework tonight.... thank you very very very much for giving me an INCREDIBLY good reason not to. YES X4!!!!!!!!!!!! Words cannot do justice how awesome this run is. This run exemplifies above all other previous runs: "How the hell did they do that?" Congratulations for finally completing this massive project. You should be receiving your virgin payments by mail within the week.
Well, ComicalFlop just encouraged me to keep going. Just like I encouraged him to keep doing the Mario Kart 64 run. We're a team, despite the fact that the Red Sox are 10 games ahead of the Jays in baseball... rrr... Anyway, I'll keep working on it (But this time, I'll check for desyncs every ~500 frames).

Well, I tried 100% a long time ago. It was too much work for spezzafer, it most certainly will be too much work for me, and likely will be too much work for other people. Plan what eggs to make, throw, and keep, how to get the flowers/coins, routes, etc. and it's just an insanely massive task.
Sure, it's insanely massive if you do it all in one go. But that's like saying "We don't know the best route yet for a Super Mario 64 run, let's not make it yet". If we all had that attitude, we would have a completion time of 16 minutes for that run. Improvements can come later.

NesVideoAgent: Couldn't you improve this movie by grabbing the laser weapon in level 2, to speed up later boss fights? Kyrsimys: *Approved NesVideoAgent: If you don't post this to 5 other TASes you will die in 1 hour! Chamale: *Denied

I said, definitely worth the new tricks we'll get! I think if everyone who was vaguely compelled to comment, but not enough to register, posted, we'd have much better runs.

This clearly isn't always the case. Even though the Red/Green versions are somewhat different from Red/Blue, all versions have some enabler/disabler bit for the final rival fight.
Plus, the game isnt designed for self registration in the hall of fame. Most likely, nothing would happen.
As Chamale has pointed out, when you use cheats to teleport to the Hall of Fame, Prof. Oak does handle the registration process.
You've said it before and you'll say it again, despite the fact that you've been proven wrong. You're like Bush talking about WMDs in Iraq.

What about adding a comment section on the published movie page which doesn't require registering?
No one has said anything against my idea (Which was to have NesVideoAgent post the Comment on IRC and have an approve/disapprove option). There's ALWAYS a few people on IRC, and it's pretty easy (Definitely worth the new tricks we'll get from anonymous users!)

Why? YouTube comments are stupid because of arguing.
PLEASE DON'T READ THIS! If you don't post this to 5 other videos within 1 hour, your mom will die in 4 hours. I'm sorry I posted this but I love my mom and I don't want to take a chance. Maybe comments could be sent to the IRC channel and whoever's there can approve them, as long as they have ~ 50 posts?

What were you doing? Were you racing normally, or slaughtering enemies? Please post a WIP file so we can see how could the run might be.

What's the plan for "Item stuffing"? You know, the thing in Fractal's Yellow run so the gym leaders don't go on their monologues about how great the TM they just gave you is.

There's a lot of emphasis on racing games lately, but a TAS of this will not be a race. In this game, there are 22 cars (including yours) and you must go something like 50-100 laps. So, in essence, screw that. There's an option in the menu that says something like "Pit In". If you turn it off, going into the pit stops forfeits the race. In this game, cars can ram into each other and cause damage. That's not encouraged by the game, but I find the only way to win is to pummel the opponents into either getting a red flag or going to the pit stop. I think the amount of damage a car takes can be manipulated, so it would be possible to not get hit very hard. In fact, it could be possible to ram a car into another car, wiping out both. I haven't found anything definitively saying that this works, but it seems to work fine on all other emulators besides Mupen, so I'm confident.

I said, ignore everything after frame 2000... Unless you're referring to that one part at the start of SMB2. I have bad dumps for SMB2/3? That would be big news to me. According to FCEU, I have the same checksum as the ROMs used for the TASes on this site.

I'm finding this fairly easy to do, one problem: The emulators desync away from each other. So when I watch the movies again, messed-up things happen. How can I fix this? If the only solution is hitting frame advance very slowly, I think I'll just give up on this run...

Question: You know how if you glitch through the last locked door you have to go through, there's an invisible wall you can't go through? Well, it seems to me that the "bad seam" that's gone through with Robert_z's glitch is before the wall. So, couldn't you do a 15-star run by using the bunny to go through that locked door?

Basically what I'm saying is that making 'warpless' be a parameter for a TAS for this game is an arbitrary one.
Also, the warps in this particular game are of the skip-multiple-worlds variety (not the reach-otherwise-unreachable-places variety), like Super Mario Bros 3, which currently has a published warpless run and no 100% run. I don't see how it makes a difference that this game lets you backtrack after warping.
Exactly! No warps SMB3 had awesome routes and strategies. FTW!

True. I think that if you want to see a slideshow, watch the 60 FPS slideshow with sound effects - the run itselg!

Would anyone be willing to undertake the challenge of luck-manipulating a 20,000-to-1 chance of catching the wild Geodude with Pokerus? Apparently, it'll do a lot for Geodude's stats, so a run using it would be able to be a couple minutes faster.

A friend of mine who owns this game told me he grabbed a star in LLL, after jumping off lava. So, he was dead as he went into the star. Apparently, the game gave him 255 stars. Someone should look into this. Maybe his game had a problem, or maybe it's a bug in all Mario 64 games.

Ugh yea that block to walljump is just a bit too high, even when jumping off of the question mark block from the other way. Why do programmers have to be stupid and put stuff like that so tantalizingly close?
Question: Would it be faster to wall-jump up the side of the wall as Raccoon Mario, as opposed to flying up there?

I think "no warps" is best, not "100%" or "All levels".
