You seem to be a stickler for usefulness, erokky. Not everything needs to have a purpose.

Well, a TAS that uses it would have to say "Uses two controllers to save time".

Can you set it so there's one minute quarters? If not, pick a game where you can. A fun thing to do would be have the final score be 12-0. Highest score would be lame... HE SHOOTS HE SCORES! HE SHOOTS HE SCORES! and so on. Just score a long-distance 3-point shot at the end. Or dunk.

What if you did the glitch on the route north of Saffron, then were in Saffron? Would the guards be gone then?

It still hasn't answered this: If an April Fool's day joke involves doing various things in a game, which are not close together, should you start from multiple savestates and have multiple input files or what?

I agree with Qlex, post a .vbm file of your new and improved test run.

Not everyone needs to like it. Many a published movie has a fairly high amount of "no" votes. I had a thought which would bring completion times closer together, though it wouldn't be extremely entertaining: Make it so while entering levels in SMB3, "start" is pressed. Basically, the other 3 games are paused during parts that require a lot of precision. Much of the progress in other games would be made in what are auto-scrollers in SMB3, because it'll be just screen-dragging as the necessary jumps are made.

But I meant something like this: Suppose you have a movie that beats all the bosses in a game, but in a really dumb way (Lamest item, roundabout way, etc.) Obviously, the impact is lost if you have to go through everything to get to the bosses. So should you use GameShark codes, or use several savestates and input files, or what?

A month after last April Fool's day, it's still confused as to what the rules are as to what makes a publishable April Fool's day run. What are the formal rules for these joke submissions?

Tell me you are jokeing... Obviously, right?
No. The programmers knew that with long jumping, you speed up, and they must have known about stairs, but they decided to leave in the code. So arguably it's not a glitch.

IIRC, didn't we make SNES TASes back when SNES emulators sucked? But only for the very best games? Or am I nuts?

There are 2 potential goals this movie could have (beyond "aim for fastest time). 1. Kill as few enemies as possible without wasting time. 2. Kill as many enemies as possible without wasting time. Personally, I like #1, because it makes the player seem totally indifferent to the enemies. Traveling around, totally untouched, and with only the occasional shot fired? Oh yeah...

I agree. If you want to post something off-topic, find a way to incorporate something on-topic in the post. For example: Wow. I want my new house to be number 10.

Still... What's a glitch? Is BLJing at turbo speed a glitch? Is beating bosses instantly with metal caps a glitch?

I, too, think it should be reworded. I'm not offended by being #25 lowest, but I am somewhat offended by being #25 worst.

I'll be honest: I don't like it. No, I hate it. Not that it's a bad avatar, but the Megaman avatar was iconically good. Change it back!

Just something I've been wondering about: If you get the star "Through the Jet Stream" first in Jolly Roger Bay, can you get the "Can the Eel Come Out to Play?" star next?

Wait a minute, I thought Silph doesn't matter. IIRC, isn't that where you get Silph Scope, which isn't necessary?

Well, as long as a submission has an input file as well, it's OK. Because as long as some people watch the input file instead of AVI file, then they can say "Hey! Wait a minute!".

Do you think you can shave off 12 more minutes and make it a Ninety Minute Blitz?
If someone had told me 4 months ago that 1:42 was possible, I would have called them crazy. But 1:30? No. No! At least not without a whole ton of new tricks. Because nearly every battle in the entire run is OHKO, this run is nearing a theoretical lower bound. Whole sections would need to be chopped out in order to bring this time down any more. Possible Candidates: - Find a way to glitch around Snorlax without collecting flute (or, altnatively, glitch a flute into your inventory). If this were possible, it would save around 7 minutes, because Poké Tower could be skipped entirely. - Find a way to glitch around fake barriers in Victory Road. This would only save around 2 minutes, from not having to shove rocks around.
Heehee. I love it when a "perfect" submission is beaten thanks to new glitches. Note that we are glitching around snorlax, like he predicted.

Go me! I'm 25th for worst overall, 49th for worst entertainment and 32nd for worst technical. What's interesting is, this has positively affected me. I had been planning to make a second TAS of Tom and Jerry, which would be improved maybe 2 seconds (almost all on levels 8, 9 and 10). However, now that I know these movies are not as popular as I thought (I used to assume a 5.0 rating meant "average") I'll just work on other games.

I am really having trouble deciding whether to work on Crystal Quest or Pokemon right now. Both runs would have astonishing end results.

Here's a thought for a new TAS: Catch Raikou, Suicune or Entei. They're all at level 40, and can be luck-manipulated, so it would be a good headstart compared to Graveler at level 25ish.
