You forgot to mention the speedbooster trick that allows you to surpass the speed limit. I'm pretty sure the high speed is the reason as to why the graphics are all messed up, no?
Oh yeah, I see I didn't really specify that. I added a section for it now. It's not the reason the graphics get glitched towards the end though. That's due to the camera not following me properly in the 4th (I think) room of the escape sequence. I leave the room before it catches up, which makes the horizontal scroll mess up a bit. Or something (it's the same glitch that happens in the glitched any% run). Interestingly, the graphical glitching only occurs when I move to the left. Which is didn't notice until now. I guess technically that is because of the really high speed I have, but only in that one instance, The graphical glitches in all the other rooms after that would have been there even if I moved with normal speed.

The IPS patch can be found here. The ROM needs to be unheadered (3072KB, not 3073KB). Was going to edit that into the submission but couldn't find the button to edit the submission... a problem which I've not had before.

Here it is. Currently writing up a submission message, so it'll be in the workbench in a bit.

Wow, okay so due to some very odd glitch, it seems you can't shinespark after getting out of that morphball tunnel with the lasers, if you do so you immediately get the crash animation, even though you didn't hit anything. It does look like it might have been faster to do it the old way anyway though.
Well that sucks. :( What do you plan to do for the route now? Also I'm sure you already thought of this, but I'll just ask anyway. At the end just above the ship is it possible to Super Short Charge and Blue Ball into the hole and destroy the bomb block?
Doing the route Hoandjzj used, with some improvements in the rooms I would have "skipped" otherwise,, was much faster in the end anyway. And it is indeed possible to do that blueball.

Your talking about the escape at the end where that Hunter Shaft is right?
Dunno what the room would be called, but I guess so, yeah. It's a vertical room with a bunch of gray pirates, and it's really near your ship. Anyway, I can do it in 4 hits, but it looks like it'd be faster to it the way Hoandjzj did it.

You don't get it if you are up against the wall when he dies. At least I think it's something like that anyway.

Hoandjzj, which part of the escape did you think that you could improve if you had more health?

It's because of that infinite shinespark glitch. Normally once you hit the wall you will enter a different state that Draygon takes no damage from, but due to this glitch, that never happens, so Draygon takes damage every frame, and can't move. And because the state of Samus is reset when Draygon dies, you get unstuck again.

Why would you want to? Unless you find a way to skip the L1 lock as well, it's somewhat pointless. Skipping SB would require you to get PBs from Tourian (Norfair and Chozo won't work), so you'd have to fight Kraid, Ridley and MB. This prevents getting XRay from Tourian. Since you can't do the L4 lock without SB, you'll need to grab the XRay from the pirate ship. That's a LOT of ground to cover without speedbooster. Possible? Doubtful. Faster? Certainly not.
The point of that smv was to show that you needed neither X-ray, nor PB's :P Forgot about the L1 locks, though, so even if it was possible to skip speedbooster it wouldn't be worth it.

I'm I allowed to post the hacked rom here? Maybe because you guys don't have the latest versions.
I don't think you are allowed to do that, and that shouldn't be the reason anyway. If it was, the movie would still run, but desync.

Might be that it starts from a savestate. I don't see why that would make it not work, but it's the only difference between the movie you posted on page two and the ones you have posted now. Anyway, I'm pretty sure I know what to do so I don't really need to see it. I'll see if I can hex it in, there might be some luck stuff that screws me over, but it should probably work.

Btw, Kriole, where you testing for something in particular there? I'm asking since it looks like that video has my TAS as a starting point (same ammo/energy/equipment), and I'm curious :P
Just checking if it can't be improved. I saw that you shot the door higher than you needed to. Also your edgehogging is suboptimal - you're not supposed to be locked in the turn animation when the debris crumbles. Pie Should be hexable.
Hmm, for some reason I still can't watch this smv. Which is weird because the one you posted a few pages back went just fine. Did you actually save anything on that door, or was it just the egehogging? (because I have already remade that second room for a different reason)

Couldn't open it with Snes9x 1.43 (which in the one I always use, too). Anyway, I've had that happen to me a few times while TASing this. It can happen in a lot of places, maybe anywhere. I assume that it just has to do with positioning. The creator of the hack has changed how the shinespark works a bit. Instead of getting up to 15px/frame and staying there like it does in SM vanilla, it oscillates between various values between 8.0 and 9.0, so I guess this is some bug that occurs as a result of shinespark not working as it was designed to do. Btw, Kriole, where you testing for something in particular there? I'm asking since it looks like that video has my TAS as a starting point (same ammo/energy/equipment), and I'm curious :P

Can't watch the smv (don't know which version of Snes9x to watch it with), can someone encode a quick avi?

Ok, yeah, it was definitely faster to get into the ship the other way. And pretty cool too :P Ice beam hurt me a bit here, since it shoots slower, which makes taking out some of the blocks in Brinstar a bit of a pain. Still, didn't lose me nearly enough to outweigh two pause screens. Smv

If you avoid here, you're still going to be detected by the enemy in the next 2 rooms ^^!

Is that really faster? Seems better to just go straight up at the spikes, rather than zigzag through the ship. But then again I haven't tested it so I wouldn't know.
Neither way, you still have to charge Shinespark! So I think it's faster if you do the Shine-jump :) Plus you can save 5x30=150 energy, so that you won't need the E-Tanks in Security Lock 2's room :D:D:D
Well, you don't need that E-tank anyway, judging by your run. But I'll test that new route when I get there.

Went up till the point where I return after getting X-ray. I'm really trying to work through this as fast as possible (without hurting optimization), because I have other things that I should do but as long as this is in the works I will just get distracted. I decided to not turn of icebeam, as it looks like I can manage fine without doing that. Smv Avi Btw, Hoandjzj, what route did find that was faster than going up the spikes to get into the pirate ship?

Super Meat Boy is on top of my list of TASes I want to see. A Meat Boy only run though, going through every level with Najia would be mostly boring. Elasto Mania would be really cool too.

The 100% run is something I really, really want to remake, but probably never will. Last time it took something like 6 months to finish, and I just don't think I have that time anymore.
