We are still at phantoon, partly because we have set such high standards as far as not losing ingame time to luckmanipulation goes (making him the hardest part of the run), and partly because I am working on other runs atm. And I don't know how much free time namespoofer has either, though I know he has been making some attempts at phanootn lately. But all motivation just goes down the drain instantly when working on that battle, especially when you already spent two weeks doing it once and then had to restart the run. So... yeah. I hope that we will get past this obstacle eventually, and when we do (and I finish the main run I am working on now) the progress will probably go a lot faster.

I have not watched it, but I have a question. In the first level there is a star in a box somewhere pretty close to the start I think, have you tested if it would be faster to collect it since it speeds you up quite a bit?

I made a test run of the first half of the first stage two days ago, the reason I didn't do more than that is that my computer simply isn't good enough to run the emulator quickly. Saving and loading takes seconds and using frame advance sometimes skips 2-3 frames and sometimes none. So I probably won't run any DS games until I get a new computer or the emulator is optimized more. Anyway, it looks like what I did was faster than what you did (but I don't know for sure), though it is probably not close to optimal either, as I couldn't be bothered to work on it for long. http://www.mediafire.com/?sharekey=df6eb8e00dd4c93f00d27174b47c66579730b5776ae8c29d5be6ba49b5870170

Why did you take off the speed booster (and the ice beam) when you went into the lava at one point to disarm a guardian?
He de-equipped speedbooster because for some reason you can't gain any speed in lava with it equipped you only gain momentum (they are two separate addresses).

Giggity. Sweet that you seem to have really picked up the pace with the run, I guess closing in on the end of such a huge project might give a boost in motivation =) Very, very awesome anyway.

What. The. Hell. Most glitched up run on the site? Aside from the first few thousand frames there where nothing, nothing at all in the run that made any kind of sense what so ever. Very impressive indeed, and a yes.

Wow, obsoletion by 4 hours, or 92% of the original length... I think it's safe to say that probably hasn't happened before.

I don't see it often in TASes. I'm guessing it's because you can get a better vertical position by falling normally and timing it perfectly - I've never measured it but I would guess the game engine would cause this to be true.
Anyway, as been said before I'm sure, it's only useful when ther isn't enough room to jump high enough to reach full falling speed before passing through the blocks (and I have also used in one case where it helped minimize lag).

How likely is it that someone who voted a straight 10/10 in the submissions forum just to see his favorite run published will now go back and re-rate it? Clearly such a person doesn't care about the rating system, so why should he bother?
Yeah, obviously. But just because they won't doesn't mean that they shouldn't :)

If someone has rated a movie higher than they actually think that it is worth then that person should probably re-rate them, yes :)

The underwater swimming is not the only thing that can be fixed in this TAS, and 9's and 10's I generally don't see as being given to 2+ hour long runs that are easily improvable. Voter bias. It'd be much, much lower if the old rating system were kept intact.
And it's a quite popular game, which always brings up the score a bit (which for entertainment is understandable, but for technical, not so much). I gave it a 7/7.5

Is this doable anyway? I thought you had to kill yourself to make the "skip MB" glitch work. IIRC, you have to cause the game to store some obscure data from the last save point by going back to the title screen. I don't think you could reset to carry this over, and the only way back to the title screen is death.
No, you don't need to die. You just need to have been in that room recently before doing the MB skip, not entering any big rooms from the point you go through that room and the point where you enter MB's room. There are two ways to do this, kill yourself in that room and load a save in tourian, or let the game demo play for about 3 minutes at which point that room will be loaded and shown, and after that you just load from tourian.

You know what sucks? Editing a video, encoding 80% done when your PC gets a stop error and restarts. So that's why you didn't see this encode yesterday. Anyway, I edited out elevators, "you got item" parts, doors and the cutscene before crateria. I suggest muting this video because it "jumps" after every door, and start desyncing about 4 minutes in. Sorry :( http://www.mediafire.com/?mfmdde5yndm
Hey, thanks man, that's really awesome. As long as you put some music on :)

What I wonder though, you mentioned in the description to use a "cam hack" for optimizing the out-of-room parts. Do you mind giving a bit more information about what it is, and where to get it? This might be a useful tool for everybody who plans to do runs that use OOR travelling.
It's basically a string of codes you put into the Game Genie/Action Replay section of Snes9x that Kejardon came up with. What it does is that it always lets the screen scroll. Any movie played with it for more than a few seconds will desync though. This is the code:

80A7316B
80A70A80

80A8FB00

You could submit it right away if you want to as long as you add explanations later, you wouldn't be the only one to do that.

I was wondering if it would have been better to save the super missile you used on the first pirate during the escape, and used it on the 4th to last pirate instead of jumping over him.
Nah, in order to do that I would have to jump over the first pirate in the 3rd escape room, and to do that I would have to do a morph/demorph in order to get over him, which would obviously slow things down. And besides, I would need to jump at the end of the 4th room anyway because I need to open the door before taking the damageboost.

He is referring to the non glitched realtime run. As far as I know Taco and Kriole are still planning on doing it, though I don't know how much they are working on it atm. If they where to drop it then I would probably do it myself sooner or later.

I don't get what DarkKobold is talking about, I actually thought the run was pretty bad. I mean after the first watch through when the initial shock value is gone I was totally bored. I'm voting 9.5/9.5 though, because I don't get why there are numbers smaller than 9 on the rating scale.

Well, as long as it does not infringe upon the gameplay.
