I use the latest version of FCEU: 0.98.13, the one you compiled, nitsuja. However, it must be because I fast-forwarded through a whole lot of stuff. I didn't use a save state, so I used the turbo button all the way. I had been looking at 100% speed for a while when the desync happened, however. I'm also using the correct ROM. Ah well, it was probably an isolated incident.

Desyncs at the world 7 ship, right before you fight those two crewsmen!

My native language is Dutch, but I also speak English. Besides those languages which I speak well, I also know a little bit of French and German. Both negligibly little, though.

I remember somebody talking about one once on this forum. I think one of the problems was that... well, it sounded like the movie files were about the size of uncompressed AVIs. (That's possibly an exaggeration.) My guess is that PSX emulation will be looking like a really viable and within-reach option after N64 emulation is considered done. I think one of the bigger problems between both of them is the multitude of different plugins. Maybe it's just a matter of finding the right plugins, but it seems like the N64 rerecording is moving in the right direction (if it isn't more or less finished by now.)
ePSXe re-recording (FFIX) topic. There is a way to record movies with ePSXe, but it only records output rather than input, which caused the files to be almost the same size as uncompressed AVIs. I don't think we'll have PSX rerecording for a while. As for the name, to cite Wikipedia: "This usage derives from the fact that Sony originally developed the PlayStation as a CD-ROM and SNES hybrid unit. When the project was halted by Nintendo, Sony decided to redesign the PlayStation as a stand alone console, which was known internally as the PlayStation Experimental. The media caught wind of the name and it has stuck ever since."

How about letting him try that during the final battle? There's a shutter there.

http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/589/flashbug2.fcm EDIT: the first screen that Mega Man ends up in is the boss intro screen. The second is the password screen (most likely). You can also enter the password screen at the far right side of the screen (the middle is impassable).

If the domain is down, then the header doesn't work because it uses the domain. Substitute irc.freenode.net with 140.211.166.3, like DeHackEd said, that should make it work.

However, Omega discovered a related trick that lets you start on other parts of the screen so we're looking into that now.
Don't expect too much of it. Killing a boss while dying will cause you to start the next stage at the same height as when you died; albeit in the horizontal center. There isn't really any way to kill a boss at a large height, though, and it would require too much time to get your health down far enough. EDIT: Here's how to become invincible.

Funny. Is there no way to get away from the room you get trapped in from bubble?
There aren't any ladders in Bubble Man's stage. It could well be that this particular kind of tile has simply been deactivated since it isn't required. Short of trying to shuttertech out of there a second time, there's nothing you can do. But doing it twice will most likely reset the game.

Happy new year, everybody! (Well, almost.) My resolution is to finish my run of Final Fantasy III. That way I won't have to break it till the end of 2006.

I'm on a roll today. I recorded an extremely lucky Quick Man. I think there's maybe one second improvement in the stage itself, but five seconds more in the boss fight because he kind of allowed me to rapidly fire at him for some reason, bringing the total time from 1:50 to 1:44.

Improved my own Air Man (easy difficulty) run from 1:58 to 1:55. I think that one more second may be saved during the boss fight.

Following some route discussion that Bablo and I have done, we've decided that it's best to segment the Wily levels anyway, even if it's difficult to keep them consistent; this means we'll have to take the stages one step at a time and finalize one before moving on to the next. The Wily levels are pretty much done when it comes to route discussion: We start by using Item-2 right at the beginning of Wily 1 in order to avoid having to fight the birds. Item-1 is used 6 times. In Wily 2, we get two refills for Item-2, of which one is gained by killing an enemy (so you'll need some luck to get it down right). After crossing the spike gap, the first ladder is used rather than the second. Item-1 is used to cross the three Crash Bomb walls. Wily 3 is straightforward: don't grab any refill and thus don't use Item-2. Wily 4 uses all of the remaining power for Item-1 and also uses up Item-3 completely. Three Item-1s are used in one of the spike rooms that's usually bridged with Item-2, three are used in the final hallway, and the remaining one that we have left is used to lift up to be able to attack the boss in Wily 4. Wily 5 and 6 haven't changed yet. Bablo and I are probably the only ones still working on this run, but we still welcome submissions in case you guys change your mind. :)

We could flood you with random names of software, but that isn't very productive. Most Bittorrent clients are good enough to work, and BitTornado isn't bad at all.

Wouldn't the knowledge that it's statistically proven that Bush is impopular inside and outside of the USA be more comforting? Actually, the knowledge that your president is impopular due to global disagreement with his actions seems like it wouldn't be very comforting.

the first mention of the japanese text renderer being faster is here: http://tasvideos.org/forum/viewtopic.php?p=16142#16142 read on for more discussion about that ;-) Philip
Yes, and it proves my point. There isn't any rule saying that English runs can't be published. Furthermore, it shows that there are reasons for using a Japanese version. It's up to the author to decide whether they're more important than being able to see what's going on.

Hello, I've not been around much lately, but thanks to the RSS feed I'm certainly up-to-date concerning the submissions here. Now, if I remember correctly, there was this unspoken policy that CT must be run in the Japanese version because its text rendering is noticably faster than the US version. While I'm very happy to see a run being done in a language I actually understand (it's a shame I don't understand Japanese), I'm not convinced that this movie can actually be published. At least not until someone tells me why that rule of old seemingly does not apply any more. Not voting just yet - though the run is impressive. Philip
I think you might be confused with the rule that says no hacked games are allowed. This effectively reduces the submissions to ones that haven't been fan translated. There's not a rule that says English runs can't be published, however. It's true that there is less text in the Japanese version, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't publish an English run; the gained quality due to being able to understand the language might outweigh the lost time.

I've found that 450 is a good bitrate for encoding this. I tried doing it myself, actually, but I'd have to let my computer capture everything for four hours, since Snes9x pauses when it's minimized or out of focus. I'm sure your modified versions are much easier in that aspect.

Excellent run. I'm still watching it, but it seems to be flawless thus far. I also like how Crono drinks soup at Ayla's village almost completely sync to the music.

In Dutch: Prettig kerstfeest en een gelukkig nieuwjaar. In English, this means: Merry Christmas and a happy new year.

Ah, integration with Photoshop and After Effects... that sounds very good. I'm going to give that one a spin.

No, it doesn't. This was tested by Morimoto and Finalfighter intensively and it doesn't seem to have much use. You usually just die, like in your test. It's very useful in Mega Man, though.

Found another cool thing that has no use. If you stand on a ladder and press up+down megaman jumps.
This is intensively used in the Mega Man run, though. It does have its uses. Try doing it in a narrow hallway (like most hallways at the beginning of Wily 4). Another cool bug: stand on an Item-3 while you're ascending stairs, and press down. Mega Man will look to the left and to the right every alternating frame.
