I just watched it, and I loved it. The zipping is really nice, too. I do think this would be worthy of a star hadn't it been for Mega Man and Mega Man 2 already taking up a lot of praise. Still, this is a big yes vote!

What? ZSNES hasn't needed the graphics packs since 1.40...Doesn't help matters though :S Shinryuu, nice to see someone making a start.
Ah, I see. I haven't been keeping up with those emulators lately since they can already do most of the things I want them to.

Do they save time? If not, then you most likely shouldn't have done it.

oh, nice. It doesn't lag at all anymore. Now just continue from this and finish the game. :)
Nah... it's just too annoying to work like that. You could also hear that some sound effects got cut off as I loaded a save state. I don't think it would be worth it.

RAR is proprietary, and you DO want Bisqwit to be able to open your submission up.

I've played some Mega Man hacks, and while it's very fun to see him run at the same speed as his bullets, it really doesn't add much to the overall entertainment. I don't think any previously made Mega Man hack is as cool as Air for Super Mario Bros.

Yep, there are only technical demos in there as of yet. It's still a very nice experiment. I don't believe it will be done anytime soon, though.

I just remade the original movie using an on-screen recorder rather than Fraps. It can be found here: http://omega.avalanchestudios.net/personal/dropbox/finalfantasyix_0.avi [4.43 MB] I also made a movie that completely glitches up the game. It doesn't actually trigger this graphic garbage via the game itself, but I made it using the GPU recorder plugin. Still very cool to see: http://omega.avalanchestudios.net/personal/dropbox/finalfantasyix_1.avi [1.53 MB]

Like nitsuja, I also don't see how this has any value.

If you're not sure what kind of platform you'd like to make a run for, I'll move this to General, if you want.

I'm going to watch this right now. If it's cool, I'll make an AVI of it to those that want it. :) Though it's much more awesome if you were to record an AVI of the actual gameplay so we can see your micro skills.

Ah, I see. Too bad, because it kind of looks strange sometimes. Maybe it's just my eyes playing TRICKS with me. So I now have enough reason to vote yes :)

It's a pretty nice run, I'd say, and the bugs that you exploit do make it look cool, but I kind of doubt some things. Such as the text; it seems as if some texts have more delay than others. Also, the first fight you have with the mammoth-looking boss looks very unoptimized, as he constantly reaches vulnerability before you attack him (unless this is required to get in more hits). I'd vote yes, but after you've answered my questions. What a Mega Man-esque game this is, by the way. :)

Fan translations generally don't have any chance of being accepted. By the way, the IRC-goers already know this, but I've restarted this run. The reason? It's difficult to manipulate luck, and since I'm only doing a test run, I might as well run through the game with no luck manipulation at all just so I can work on the route that needs to be constructed. However, I have very little time to TAS these days. I'll gradually work on it and someday release another WIP, though.

A loaded game can't be saved as replay because then it would have to include the save file in the replay. But the designers decided not to allow that for some reason (maybe because save files are easily editable). Replay files have to start from scratch and completely play out the match, so you can't do it when you've started somewhere in the middle.

I don't think turkeys are very happy on Thanksgiving.

Take the Chrono Trigger movie for example, it's 2 MB as SMV, but in a ZIP file it only takes 22 kB.
When I read this, I quickly rushed towards the list of SNES runs to see if a Chrono Trigger run had been released without me knowing, but alas.

Duhh, I should really check things out before I post. The longest movie I could find quickly (the SMWTLC movie) was approx 28kb in the zip format. Now uncompressed, it at approx 950kb. So it does make a huge difference.
It does. That's about 34 times as small, which is a huge difference in the long run. Any download can get corrupted, by the way. It depends on the amount of transmission noise how likely that is to happen. But that barely ever happens anymore these days.

I think it's 16, actually. The resolution of the image must be evenly divisible by 16 both in horizontal and vertical directions. 256/16 is even, so is 224/16, but 232/16 is not even nor is 223/16. (No, I don't understand anything of your problem. That's why I haven't replied to the thread.)
Not for MPEG-4 XviD, which has no limitations. It would be too large because you probably used a quantizer setting that's too high, or a high bitrate. Try sacrificing some quality over filesize.

Just record a regular playthrough, and try to show as much of the game as possible while playing at a normal pace. Show off the "active" mode as well. Then release it: you'll probably get much more interest that way. To me, that sounds more interesting than a speedrun at this moment.

I voted yes, but I guess that it doesn't really matter anymore. So now we're at 54 yes votes to zero others. :) Thanks, everybody who helped out to make Nintendo 64 superplaying possible.

The super P-Wing would be slow on most levels. Maybe i may use one on a screen scroller, depends on the situation for upcomming levels. Im not going to Switch from Fire-Flower to P-Wing if i need fire flower the next level. that waste time. And ill also agree with Kyrsimys. I will go for "Fastest" time, so that means fireworks waste time.
If you're going for fastest time, then why are you wasting time selecting P-wings when you can do just as fast without one?
