Frozen Dreams, you will be tucked in a rocket and shot out of this community in no time if you keep up this ungrateful and utterly saddening attitude. I'm saying this as a moderator, not as a member. If you are somehow unable to receive help from a fellow forum member (and say thanks), then you shouldn't be asking for it in the first place.

I liked the way you beat Bomb Man with only the fire shield rather than the actual fireball. Nice work so far. I also hadn't seen the Fire Man battle yet, which is also really neat because of how you don't just stand at the initial position, like in most other boss battles.

I agree with Flagitious run of SNES Zelda 3... It's very well done and very entertaining to watch
I'd like to add to this that regardless if there are movies that are more deserving of a star, it's at least fair that the long version movie gets the star of the short version. It much more suits the prerequisites, mainly because I doubt the occasional viewer would really be interested in a minute-long glitchfest.

A lot of stores are stupid and can't properly put product information on their pages. You could very well have been the victim of a typo. There is no Final Fantasy IX on-line, what you saw was Final Fantasy XI.

SNES Zelda: A Link to the Past (USA) in 1:20:16 by Darren Smith (aka. flagitious) is, in my opinion, worthy of having the short version's star. It's a much more enjoyable run to watch. EDIT: and while we're at it, the description could use a little extra zing...

Ok, I have a pretty good idea how my next version will look now. However, there is a wildcard in that the steps to next encounter don't always seem to be constant, and there's no explanation why in some cases. I've found some cases where particular squares don't advance the counter, but in other places encounters happen with more or fewer steps for seemingly no reason. Unless I can figure this out, I'll just have to work with what I can get.
Strange. I figure that they'd use coordination checks to count down to the next encounter. I suspect that those tiles might be starting points for NPCs such as bats. Maybe you could check if that's the case.

Goes to show how useful the RSS feed is. :) I picked this link up from my Google start page, which allows you to aggregate data from feeds. I have to reinstall Snes9x due to repartitioning, so I'll watch it later. Seems interesting, though. Good job. :)

Like I said on IRC, congratulations with your (still unofficial) world record. :) I can't wait to see the AVI. Make sure you send it to Radix before you send it to Twin Galaxies!

Omega: I have a short movie of the first level on Mayhem. It's probably close to the fastest possible solution, but there are some places in which I had extra cursor movements. I would upload it if I knew where to do so.
Any reason why you're not linking to it, now that you've made it?

I say go for it. Make one or two levels just to show the game's potential. Lemmings is a game so well-known I believe there's got to be at least some interest. I for one, am interested to see how this turns out.

I've watched some of the WIP versions and find that this run is of extremely high quality. You really go great lengths to show a movie that fans of the genre will appreciate. It's also incredible how you were able to squeeze all that gameplay in such a relatively short time. A firm yes vote from me. (In fact, I'd be inclined to give this run a star.)

Sorry about that. The movies were deleted off of the server due to my friend degrading in hosting plan. Fortunately, since then, he's already upgraded again and increased my storage limit to 500 MB, so there's room for my game videos again. :) I'll get the directory back in order soon, but for now, here's the latest WIP (about 20 minutes into the game, entering the pirate base).

Does the amount of text affect your luck? I was thinking that if it didn't affect it too terribly, then you could do a whole test run on the translation so you could know what was going on the whole time. Then the final run would be in Japanese. Or has this already been discussed?
The luck is decided by the amount of frames you wait outside of battle. Text is no exception. One extra frame of text could mean that the item you use in battle could only do 30 damage instead of 100 damage. However, the main reason why I'm running this game in Japanese is because I want to get used it a little bit. Although, you're right, maybe it would be a little easier if I did it in English. It doesn't matter too much, though, since I can tell what I'm doing and where I'm going. Save states from the Japanese version can be loaded in the translated version. I frequently scout ahead in the English version.

But it's not genuinely lossless, is it? I believe that the saturation data is lossy, or something like that. It sure does look very good, though.

Does using the translation desync the video? If not, all you people who want to see the translated version could at least TRY playing the translated rom with his video.
Yes, it does. In fact, it doesn't even reach the first battle because the English translation (by Neil Corlett and SoM2Freak, I haven't tested others) has one extra paragraph of dialogue before it. Even if that were not the case, it would desync as soon as one of the translation patches shows one more line of text in a paragraph, as the text is skipped with exact frame precision. If anybody wants to see a translated run, unfortunately, they're going to have to make one themselves. It's a shame, considering how cool the dialogue in this game is, especially for its time.

That'll make it difficult at the moment. Also, isn't it possible to run WMV or Winamp TV servers? I'm not saying it's better to use those, but we could consider those, too. "BisqTV" sounds like it could be pretty neat!

Moved to SNES Games. To answer your question: flying is much faster than running, because running is pretty slow in Super Mario World. I also believe that it's impossible to finish the game with the fast route that goes through Star Road without using the cape to get to certain areas.

Please post in the right forum. Which game are you talking about? Super Mario Bros 3, or Super Mario World? If you edit the title of this post to include the name of the game you mean, I'll move this to either the NES or SNES forum.

I don't wish to put myself into this ongoing debate, but I'll tell you this: the whole paranoia that someone will take your run, your ideas and route, and obsolete it easily with one or two simple adjustments, is the exact reason why we have an official world record organisation that won't give out movies of submitted runs. An organisation I'm firmly against. This isn't for our personal gain, let's keep that in mind. We're all working on a large collaborative effort to entertain ourselves and the crowd. This run wasn't made to be a quick and dirty way to snatch Sleepz' record, it was made because the game could have been done faster. With the Super Mario Bros movie being obsoleted by just one frame, I don't see a reason to vote no for this submission.

You should get a seed from the automated bot soon. I believe it's programmed to start seeding files that are requested automatically if there is nobody else to help you out.

While we're on the subject, I added the Archive's game videos RSS feed to my personalized Google page, meaning whenever I search for something, I'll see the last three uploaded files in that category. :)
