Heh. Same here, except my personal laptop still runs on Windows. I still haven't switched completely yet, but I'm planning to do so.
To bmecoli: normally, I try to refrain from insulting members, but it's really difficult to remain friendly to people like you. You simply say that people who say that they've made a conscious decision to choose a different operating system--something greatly subjective and essentially insignificant--are stupid. First off, Mac OS X is a great operating system. It works great and has amazing stability, even when compared to Linux. The keywords "sense" and "simplicity" are relevant here. I don't see how you can, without giving any argument whatsoever, conclude that this system is lesser than other systems. Have you ever even used it for more than 5 minutes? Secondly, I'd like to tell you that you're most definitely not my favorite member for calling someone stupid for making a decision. Let's reassess the previous sentence. He MADE A DECISION. One with which you apparently disagreed. And you call him STUPID. I seriously would not mind if one of the higher powers on this forum decided to send you off to an early permanent vacation if this is your way of thinking. Please adjust your attitude towards other members' opinions. You're not going to make yourself very popular around here if you don't.

Could you post those two runs you made using save states? I'd like to take a look at how you played them. :) You're most definitely gonna improve my time now, so I might as well try to keep up...

I noticed how frustrating it is to have to do hard levels later when I was working on a speedrun in Quake. Of course, I wanted to perfect my segmented run and not my single segment run, which more or less nulled this (apart from difficult parts in the levels which came later on), but it's hell to have to stop your entire movie because you missed one grenade jump (or one use of the magnet beam!)
But still, I firmly believe that you can't really beat the highest time right now through a lower tier run unless you think up a ton more useful tricks.

Seriously. We're not going to listen to your every freaking whim, and we're not going to feel sorry if you become angry over not being given immediate attention everytime you want us to. The network rules are enforced indiscriminately, as are the rules on this forum. If your behaviour clashes with the rules, then there's obviously something wrong on your side, not ours or Freenode's.
So pretty please, just cram it, clown.

I've raised the bar.
I've got it down to 24:32 now (minus a few seconds because I ended the movie pretty late after dealing the final blow)... it's the highest tier run as far as I know because of the frequent usage of the Magnet Beam. It uses Morimoto's route.
If Sleepz (or anyone else, for that matter) manages to beat this, I'll try again.
Uploading, editing post in a sec... :)
EDIT: here it is.And here's an AVI file.
EDIT: I didn't time this perfectly, but the time at which I deliver the final blow to Wily seems to be 24:24 (counting from the AVI file).

Tweedle-dee is pretty cool because if you have that name, you're probably a fan of Bob Dylan. So no complaining! :)
(You should read the network's guidelines, as it was you who made a pretty obvious mistake. Sorry if it seems uptight to you.)

I'm right behind you, Sleepz, with 24:58. Even though I said I'd stop upon getting a sub-25 minutes time, I'm gonna continue anyway, because I can do much better than this one. :)
EDIT: also, if you're out of rocks in Wily 3 against the boss, you're better off using Rockman Buster (the default weapon) against him.

It should be possible with some well-placed Magnet Beams--they're pretty high, so it's impossible to walk on the beams at some point.
I'll try Ice Slasher (those weapons have names?)

Hmm. I wonder if there's any way to shoot those damned bombs in Bomb Man's stage out of the sky. I'm having a really hard time with that stage. Latest run is sub-26 minutes, though...

The Magnet Beam isn't all that difficult to use--though you HAVE to be ready to fail at least a couple of climbs with it. Basically, it's a matter of pressing fire and jump, and releasing the fire button shortly after pressing it. Don't try to calculate them, just see if you can make a Magnet Beam at one certain height and then practice that. It shouldn't be more difficult than learning how to do a grenade jump in first-person shooters. Tip: continuously play Ice Man's level, since there's a lot of room to practice it there.
EDIT: I'd like to add that I believe Morimoto's route, with his use of the Magnet Beam, is the highest tier run that can be performed by a human.

Yeah, that's true. It's been known for about four months now, I believe.
I do not agree with all the sequels that are being made after Final Fantasy VII.

I hate the fact that this organisation (Twin Galaxies), because it's officially recognised, decides that they have the authority to tell US how to play OUR GAMES. Screw them. This is much better than their way of playing.
EDIT: I'd like to add that I really don't see why they would limit us--when you buy a commercial game, you buy a cartridge with data. Why would you discriminate the data that you get? It's possible to use those glitches with the product you buy, so they shouldn't meddle with the possibilities.

I was mainly thinking about the pause trick since it requires a decently lenient timing from what I can tell, yeah. :) I've actually tried to do the Magnet Beam trick a few times, but after about 5 minutes of trying, I concluded that the chance of me being able to pull it off that day was pretty small. :p

I'm gonna go find the old Rockman movie which didn't yet utilize the Magnet Beam trick so I can take a look at how things are being done there.
By the way, we don't care about Twin Galaxies rules, right? :p

Not even if the emulator puts a mark everytime a rerecord was made, or logged the speed of emulation all the way through, it would be possible to make it hack-proof. So nobody's going to even try.

Yeah. I don't think people here are gonna make a million rerecords and then reset the count. I'm pretty sure I would fail gigantically on a full Rockman run, though, dying somewhere in the middle and then stopping the recording because I don't want to show deaths in it. So maybe we could do one level or something?

That would be cool. I'm not a Rockman expert as much as I'm a Rockman 2 expert, but I've been meaning to do a fun run on it. Not necessarily to get the absolute best time. Just play it and do my best.
But couldn't people always hex edit their emu movie files and set the rerecord count to 0?
