Aw. This was never accepted. I'm making an AVI of this. EDIT: 1 hour long, 195MB, XviD two-pass, LAME MP3. :) Enjoy.

New technique! Very cool, I'm gonna check this out later (and race you to a perfectly done version of this game!)

I encoded it to AVI (XviD two-pass + LAME MP3). Just for those FEW PEOPLE (if any here) who are too lazy to look at the movie file. I mainly made it for other people who don't have Snes9x or the 1.0 ROM, but go ahead if you want to download it. I'll encode every update. :)

"Meh" is more like a colloquialism rather than an actually existing word. If you try to say it out loud in your mind, you'll find that it sounds kind of indifferent. That's also basically its meaning. When you say "meh", you simply don't really care. Maybe the official Nesvideos submission polls could use a more proper word, but you can basically replace it with "I don't care/I have no opinion" (which is an option that should be in any decent poll).

It's AWESOME to see huge NES sprites like that behind a window. :) Awesome.

Glad to know this is still alive. Too bad Boco's too busy with all kinds of things to continue her FFV run. :(

I consider Catacomb 3d to be the "original" real-action FPS, but that's only because I've not played many others from that era. :p It would really be interesting to see this, though!

Hasn't Morimoto already done the largest part of the Rockman 2 run? I think that last time I checked his site, it said that he only had to do Wood Man and the Wily stages. I figure it's possible to link everything together once you've made the individual runs.

Sorry for the double post, but I wanted to bump this because I want to see if I can revive this. Basically, using this plugin, it's possible to make a (rather large) demo file of everything the GPU and SPU render. They can be played back using any plugin, including the Peter's, making it visually very accurate to the original. It's possible to record with slowdowns, and there are five save states at one's disposal. Superplay recording with ePSXe is possible! There's ONE thing, however: the program with which these demo files can be played back (GPUplayer) does not support exporting these files to AVI. Of course, one could always use an on-screen recorder to snatch the data, but these are unreliable and often drop frames. So is there anybody who could somehow add AVI exporting support to such a program? I don't know much about programming, and I have no idea if it's possible without the source code. Otherwise, I can see if I can contact the one who made it because he shouldn't really mind distributing the source code--the program itself is freeware. edit: I'll upload the programs/plugins and post links here. edit: here are the GPU/SPU plugins as well as the player for the demo files. http://tetravalor.avalanchestudios.net/other/recorder20.zip

Even if it isn't it's still pointless making a speedrun so much slower then an existing one, tool-assisted or not.
Some people like to see a speedrun made with gaming skills rather than frame-accurate perfection skills. :) I personally like both, but there's no reason why you should compare tool-assisted runs with realtime runs. Also, if you'd like to advertise your own run, you should start a new topic.

That was not good at all. Why even bother making a speedrun of the full game much slower then the existing one? And its so unclean. Check out my single stage rockman2 speedruns. http://www.nestrix.tk Using only blaster i complete airman, flashman and quickman faster than Morimoto in his speedrun.
This isn't a tool-assisted speedrun.

I once recorded a small demo of Metal Gear Solid. I used Techsmith's codec to record it at the highest compression, which made the game about 10% of its original speed on my 3.0GHz HTT P4. The filesize was pretty decent then.

If you still don't think that is a good reason i'll give; There is also no emulator which supports rerecording and slowdowns. One could set a FPS cap in it to slow it down, but I don't even thing there is one with recording...
ePSXe has one video codec that allows you to record data. If you simply set a lossless compression codec, it will slow the game down in order to save the data to your hard disk--rerecording is possible as well. I'm not sure what it was named, but check around on Zophar.

Very nice. :) I LOVED it when you shot to the left right before finishing off Elec. That was really great. I had doubts about this new "wtf factor" style, but it's actually quite nice now that I look at it. The fight with Elec was really amusing to watch.

Here's the file I'm supposed to only get hit once in the fight with the cellar boss. http://tetravalor.avalanchestudios.net/other/legend-of-zelda-omega.rar I recorded it using hotkeys (S and A respectively for saving and loading state 0, W and Q respectively for saving and loading state 1). B and N were mapped to respectively increase speed and decrease speed. edit: I recorded it with a valid version of the ROM (checksum okay, the (U) version) and I played the file back read-only. edit: playing the file without the read-only flag checked seems to have had no effect. the desync is still at the same place. also, I'd like to note that the demonstration video played back just fine. :\

I just recorded a movie using that file, but it still desyncs after a little while (at the first levels of the castle, obviously because of enemy AI).

The seal pyramid (or is it a tetrahodron?) can't be reached until you're in 1000AD after having upgraded Marle's pendant at the Mammoth Machine. Ripped 1000AD overworld (large)

That is SO amazing. :) Great job, Fabianx and Highness. I can't wait for Zelda's tool-assisted run. It'll be one of the best movies on the site when it's done.

That's what some people say. But that's like saying the 100m sprint at the Olympic Games is worthless because it's just running the same old stretch of track over and over again, and every now and then someone breaks the world record. Some people may find speedruns boring, but others (like me and the people of this site) think that they're entertaining to watch.
