OK, this is pretty awesome. Got 6300 frames of Metroid Prime playback to sync perfectly. However, I'm still having a problem with savestates and Dolphin not taking input after loading one. This is kind of important to making rerecording work, so I'd like to know what can be done about this. Also, hotkeys stop working for me if I don't switch over to the main Dolphin window. Any ideas why?
These are pretty important to the dolphin devs, I would let them know.

However, the platforming in the stages is pretty good. I have one question, though, before I vote: Would it save more time to die more in Stages 5 and 6 instead of in Stages 3 and 4? It seems like you have to wait a lot longer for objects in Stages 5 and 6.
I was thinking the same thing.

I went ahead and voted no, because I'd rather see the other published.

I asked Rayas to submit this, because I want to know which version people prefer.

Um, no. Do you see the title? Tool-assisted superplays. The goal is the most entertaining movie, not the fastest. See the recent brain age submission.

I'm going to edit the movie in order to get a proper ending, yeah. It should be done in the next days. EDIT: Ok, movie done, lengths 20-ish more frames to get an unglitched ending (yet a few graphical glitches happen during it, but I had them on every emulator I played): http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/637618849/Dragon%20Crystal%20%28UE%29%20%5B%21%5D.mmv
Rayas, would you be willing to submit this as a new movie? I'd prefer people chime in on a new submission, with the one they want to see.

Completed, I can agree with. Abandoned? Maybe someone will be interested in seeing it, if they attempt their own run? Also, how can anything ever be 'abandoned' versus put on hold indefinitely? I have enough projects like that, lol.

I converted* some pxm movie and as expected pretty much all game seem to desynch sooner or later, with the psxjin beta :( Also, in BoF3, the emulator ignore the input after the first battle. (pjm) *(thanks to lua)
It would be a massive surprise if anything sync'd at all. The whole reason this project was started was because the original spu implementation was shit, and we had a coder skilled enough to replace it. However, that means all of the timings are going to be off. This SPU is far improved from the previous one, no more need for Eternal SPU to get all the sounds, and the crazy sync issues with the previous one should be gone.

Alright, so I started looking into my own personal test run of FF8. I do plan on running this game, and have already started looking into how the RNG and etc. work. Unlike what mz thought, the Stutter-run trick helps a ton for this game. While darkwasabi is able to reset the "Danger Value" by saving, there won't be any save/load in my run, so if a battle can be skipped by stutter walking, it will save time, even given the increased step count. I've already written a script that tells me when to stutter-run and when to normal run. Anyway, I'm going to post a pjm at some point soon, but that will be useless to everyone as PSXjin hasn't been released yet. It will be here soon, though.

I'm guessing if Bass, Protoman, and MegaMan are all different enough runs through the main game, that they'd all have a chance of getting accepted here.

Watched a good portion of your WIP - the only thing I noticed is you had health left at the end of level 1 - Otherwise, the run is looking good

So, I'm planning on accepting this - but I'm considering having it obsolete Top Gear 2. Top Gear 2 is not as entertaining of a run, and was mainly accepted to obsolete the one track Top Gear. I'd like some feedback on that idea.

Unless you do nothing but play around in the menu after you see Epona, then it desync'd near the end for me. Played fine to that point, though. 41DEFF9B1FD2831F48FBFA2DD1054E4D - My MD5

You think that's tall? I bet strangers don't even ask you if you play basketball. You've got to be at least 6' 4" before I consider you tall. XD Anyway, I started my first practice TAS tonight. I'm catching the fever. Counting frames and beating my own time is exciting. There's even an unpublished WIP of the game I'm doing ... and so far I'm kicking its butt. I have one question about rerecording logistics. Let's say I run Level 1, move on and run Level 2. Then I realize a better way to do Level 1. How do I rerun Level 1 and tack on my existing Level 2 run? In this case, I'm on SNES9x, 1.51 v6 svn 113. I was wondering this going in, and now I'm in the situation where I need to know!
People ask me to play basketball all the time. Just yesterday, I was in the grocery store, and someone asked me to join a pick up game in the frozen foods aisle! Of course, I had already made my way through that aisle and stocked up on frozen pizzas, so I had to decline. Your question totally depends on the game. Some games allow you to hex edit your input from a previous level into the movie. However, if the game has things such as randomness, the occurrences that happen in level 2 may not be the same! Since you are only in level 2, I'd start back, and improve your level 1. Who knows, you may find improvements to level 2 by redoing it!

I would rather have seen this go to the real end, and I'm waiting for the possibility of a real-end movie to cast my vote.

My guess, though, is that Dark Kobold was looking for something like this: suppose you have to take 900 samples sequentially, the probability of it being of type X is p(X) and can be changed. How would you manipulate it so that you have the highest chance of being close to 20% X after each sample is taken (not only at the end)? If you have x X's and y Y's, your current ratio is x/(x+y), if you take an X, it goes to (x+1)/(x+y+1), if you don't, it's x/(x+y+1). So, you want your next ratio to be 1/5, your expected ratio can be defined in terms of the probability function: (x+1)*p(X)/(x+y+1) + x*(1-p(X))/(x+y+1) = 1/5 Solving the equation, we get p(X) = (y-4x+1)/5 . Obviously, 0<=p(X)<=1, so in the case it gets negative, pick 0, if it gets larger than 1, pick 1.
Thanks, I'm pretty sure this is exactly what I was looking for!

Fighting games, in general, have a hard time getting accepted. For whatever reason, they just aren't much fun to watch to the vast majority of TASers. Even movies which allow the character to morph into other characters get rejected (see any reject Shang Tseung Mortal Kombat Movie). The opposite of this is any fighting movie with significant and interesting glitches. So, if in your test run, you find cool glitches, your movie will have a much better chance. Anyway, my recommendation for this game is like any other that is weak in its publication chance - make a test run (doesn't have to even be the full game), upload it here, http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php and then post that to this thread. You probably won't get a ton of feedback, but the feedback will be good. I'm a dragon ball Z fan, so I'll do my best to watch WIPs.
