I'll take the time to judge this, this weekend, if no one else claims it.

Trademark infringement? Where did that come from?
A trademark or trade mark is a distinctive sign or indicator used by an individual, business organization, or other legal entity to identify that the products or services to consumers originate from a unique source, and infringement is the unauthorized use of that, but that isn't important right now. I don't think this is a good idea. Runs in the gruefood are usually not published because they're not good enough for the site. Having an award for them on the site kind of contradicts the purpose of not accepting runs.
Pretty much this.

Do you need people to breathe for you as well as think for you? I think the answer is obvious, and you answered it yourself - its a glitch that saves time, so obviously yes you should use it. RPGs are longer than other games by nature, so anything that reduces the length is a good thing.
Do you need this sort of attitude? This is totally unacceptable, especially since I've helped YOU with an RPG.

any progress with the emulator problems? metal gear seem to have a history of being one of the last games with runs being published for their respective systems lol.
As far as I know, zeromus has fixed the glitch, and TEM is just waiting for a full release of PCSX to start work again.

Alright, I've reviewed this movie thoroughly, and one of the major differences is that Nitrogenesis takes damage to save time. Really, the site doesn't need a damage-less and a damage taking run, and so therefore the distinction is slightly moot. However, I can see that Tim's TAS skills are improving, and I think the game is worthy of publication. I'm not sure that this is the movie to bring this game to publication, however. Additionally, more seems like it could be done to avoid lag. 2nd, both movies take the invincibility power up in the first level instead of taking damage. Given the length of animation, the damage may be faster.

I can get similar, but not identical, behavior by writing 0 to 0x776 while paused. This resumes play, but no music until paused again.

Alright, time for some moderation. If you'd like to discuss the legalities of using someone else's input, that thread will can be continued here.. While I'm going to put the effort to attempt to split that conversation, any further post on that topic in this thead will be deleted. If you'd like to talk about the quality or tricks of abeshi's run, please continue. On the issue of the run being submitted, we will approach that issue if/when it comes. It appears the author is content, at the moment, with nicovideo.

FinalFighter: I thought you couldn't do delay-stage clear without the elec beam - therefore, doesn't it still make sense to do elec man first, instead of playing through bomb man to get the magnet beam? Sorry if I misunderstood.

Hey, looks good so far. I'm wondering what sort of role luck manipulation will play - I know items can be dropped, but is it worth the time for manipulation and equipping?

If the level end is triggered by music - Would it be possible to use this glitch to get the music to start playing earlier?

I don't know what to vote on this game yet, though. There's a lot of autoscrollers without a whole bunch of gameplay variety in them (the asteroid dodging is a notable exception). The burn shot thing is cool, though it keeps looking like it should be more controllable than it is. It does make the non-autoscrolling parts pretty cool.
Yeah, the burnshot is only controllable at two places - where you start it, and (if) after you hit a moving platform in the prison level. So, I have very little control beyond 'start at this point.' Thus, some of the technicality of this run was finding the right spot to start the burnshot.

I'm a little concerned about the boss fighting too. In a number of the fights, you keep waiting to charge shots and fire them, even when the boss has little health left. For instance, I think there was some boss near the end of the first video where you charged a shot to take off two bars rather than firing a few simple shots. There are some boss fights where you just use those super charged attacks, whatever they are, over and over. It may be the fastest way, but it doesn't really look good. I was sort of hoping there'd be more in-your-face fighting like there is with the other Shubibinman game.
Unfortunately, the charge attacks for two players does too much damage too fast to be ignored. However, the caveat is that you can't fire normal bullets or charge shots until the attack has completely cleared the screen. Also, 1 health bar can take anywhere from 3-8 normal bullets to take down, and the charge shot only takes ~10 frames to charge (once you are allowed to fire again.)

In short, this is a decent game, but the scrolling parts and boss fights make me unsure of what to vote right now. Some more comments on the bosses would probably be useful.
Yeah, I tried to entertain as much as I could during the autoscrollers, but I couldn't find much beyond 'look, I exited the ship! Glitchy!' or 'look, I'm flying backwards, and shooting from my butt!' Also, I improved the inca monster in the updated submission.

I cleaned these up in the new file. There was some crappy play in the sewer level that got saved due to a crash. My bad. Also, made some slight improvements to level 1, and the weird statue boss when Mue dies. As a result of hexing, the blue ship takes damage in the asteroid field, but this didn't affect the rest of the movie.

How about a new award: "The most impressive improvement of an existing TAS." (And "most impressive" doesn't necessarily mean "largest".)
While I dislike this idea (face it, MegaMan 1 has sealed this and every other award) However, I like the suggestion, as it makes me think of the contra-award, best new TAS, awarded to the TAS that has no previous run. Best Original TAS?

Link to video So, I had known that some pretty glitchy things happened when you hit either L+R+D or L+R+D+U. I had given up on it being useful at all. However, Aqfaq contacted me, and showed me his short run, which demonstrates that the glitches can be useful! It has something to do with the inability to load the ducking animation for L+R, as L+R+D does nothing until you hit the floor. While I'm going to continue my movie (and label it warpless), I'd like to figure out how to use this warping intelligently. I spent quite a bit of time, trying to get anything worthwhile to happen, and thus far have failed.

After Sonikkustar Nitrogenesis suggested Shockman for the DTC3, I decided to try it. First off, it crashes PCEjin like, I don't know, every 30 seconds. However, I've found a workaround. I created a batchfile that auto-loads all of my required pieces, so I can quickly resume when it crashes. As annoying as this run is to make, there are enough cool moves, glitches, and modes of transport that it is making for a fun TAS. WIP coming.

Small change I'd like to see this year - TAS of the Year should not also win Platform TAS of the Year, and that should instead go to the 2nd runner up for that Platform. I'd like to know if people agree with me. A second, probably less popular idea, would be to prevent the same TAS from winning multiple categories, such as Glitchy and Innovative, or etc.

Just one question, though. At the end of Stage 5 (I think), just before the boss, you bounce off of a blue wizard to get over a pillar. It takes a little while for the wizard to get there. Wouldn't it be faster to shoot out the dirt in the wall to your left and hop up there first?
I tried, and it seemed impossible to do - 1 pixel back, you hit your head. 1 pixel forward, and you fall off.
