I enjoyed this movie, which is rare for me in a 'run-right-for-justice' movie. So, yeah, definite yes vote, stands out in the crowd of RRFJ movies.

In the Theed Palace, after waiting for Amidala to catch up and running past the Droideka (around 17:50 in the encode(Thanks, Cardboard!)), you make a single jump and grab onto the edge of the spiral ramp. Would a double jump not have been able to make it all the way?
That actually works by forcing the screen to scroll. While a double jump would make up the distance, the screen wouldn't actually let me move that far. Something about the way a hang/recovery works, forces the screen to scroll. The same thing happens at the beginning of City of Theed, when I do a single jump to the balcony. The hang/recovery forces the screen to scroll, allowing a transition that "shouldn't" happen.

Too bad you couldn't have taken at least 1 swing at Jar Jar in the swamps. A good entertainment tradeoff IMO. In coruscant, is it actually possible to make him fall to his death, or was that massive manipulation?
I actually took a few swipes at him during the Swamp's Boss Battle, at the same time as using him as a Gungan Shield. The Boss's death Coruscant is actually pretty easy to do on the console, except he pushes you off, so your jump back has to survive. This actually happened to me by accident while testing things in the run.

Good job on this, I'm somewhat surprised that the sound is audible. But for the official encode, I just want to point out that the mz experimental plugin might give an interesthing result for HD/youtube.
I tried it, and the run syncs, but JPB is at 30 fps, and the GPL forces 60, so it is unwatchable using that plugin. However, its been hard enough on encoders just to do a PSX run, so I'm happy with the 2 I'm getting.

I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger, those who attempt to vote No for silly reasons. And you will know my name is DarkKobold, when I lay my vengeance upon thee. In all seriousness, Obi-wan is the 2nd fastest Jedi, but Adi Gailla hits like a wet noodle, so she is useless against Darth Maul. Plus, Mace Windu doesn't even have a purple saber in this game. Uh, this shouldn't even be run, until the hack is finished. Strangely, I can't find the rule, but I vaguely remember that WIP hacks are not acceptable. Also, DDRKhat, you should cancel.

An explanation of multitrack would be nice though.
You know, this may be the reason that multitrack runs really haven't picked up steam. (not the online network, the verbal expression). Anyway, multitrack stands for doing multiple tracks of recording, sort of like a midi file. You generate each of the instruments musical tracks separately, and then play them together to get music. Multitrack works by recording each player (in a multiplayer game) individually for a section (defined by the TASer), and then the script plays back the actions of that player while the TASer records another. Finally, once all players are recorded in the script, it is played back simultaneously, and set in the movie file. I think adelikat's Ustream has a recording of him creating level 2 of the Simpsons TAS we did. Also, I will be recording some of Turtles in Time soon in the future. These are good examples of how multitrack works.

Actually, the point everyone is trying to get across to you is that how the run looks has an effect on the answer to that question.

You seem to read only what you want to read. Have you even bothered to read everything that I have written in this thread? I have been having a civil, rational conversation about the rules and how the technique used in this run should be handled according to them, and how the rules should be understood. You started to convert this conversation into some kind of flamewar starting with your "you lost all your credibility" BS.
Deflected. Again. I wasn't trying to flame you, I was trying to explain why not watching the run made you look bad. I give up.

Wow, Warp, you are just not getting it. I noticed you STILL haven't answered my question. The discussion with you was civil until everyone found out you had not watched the run. I will state it in as few words as possible. You look bad to people because you seem too LAZY to watch the run, making you UNINFORMED about the current run in question. However, this has not stopped you from making LONG-WINDED posts.

I'm honestly trying to have a conversation about the rules and the rather exceptional case of this particular game, which creates a rather fuzzy line about whether it can be considered breaking a particular rule or not. Why are some people here considering this as being a jerk and a douche?
Because, once again, you can't have an honest conversation when you didn't even take the 30 minutes and 42.12 seconds to become informed what you've babbled about for multiple posts. I really don't know how else to get this across to you: That pisses people off. You started arguing something that you didn't even bother to first become fully informed. People start feeling that you are lazy and just here to argue. Once again, Warp, seriously, why are you here? Do you even like TASes, or do you just like arguing the rules of this site? Remember, I was like you once. However, I chilled out, and realized the site was about entertaining movies first, and the rules second. So yes, there are rules. But if some run comes along that is hellishly entertaining with a game genie code? It would probably be accepted.

#1 You would have known what was happening, and people wouldn't have to explain to you what happened in the movie. You had zero clue what actually happened, but that didn't stop you from making those 5 posts. #2

See that up there? Voting is the first and most basic form of stating your opinion. You decided to ignore that request to watch, and spiel your opinion, repeatedly, in verbose form, numerous times. You want to talk about rules of this site? That one is ON EVERY SUBMISSION, because it is THE MOST IMPORTANT part of the process of forming an opinion about the run undergoing the judging process. #3, It demonstrates a total lack of interest in the actual content of the site, also invalidating your opinion. You forget that the person making a point can be just as important as the point being made. Why should anyone care about the opinions of a person who doesn't care about TASes? I asked a question, which you ignored. "If you can't even be assed to watch a TAS that you are going to comment on, what are you doing here?"

For those who don't know, this is actually the Japanese version of Final Fantasy Legend. I'm curious if this glitch would work in FFL USA. Really, I'm surprised that the author has been so ridiculously productive, and yet the submission texts are lacking in any substantial information. Also, I know a couple people were working on FFL1 and FFL2. I wonder if these submissions will kill that work.

The SM64 120 star is in a difficult position. The current 120 star run is woefully out of date, due to the amount of work currently being put into individual SM64 stars. However, while that is all well and good for the SM64 community, someone attempting to do a 120 star run would be have previously achieved stars constantly outdated while in the process of making the movie. So, then, they either continue working on a suboptimal movie, i.e. possible rejection, give up, or restart from that star. Losing proposition all around, IMO.

Is there a way to split this page into 2 pages, between forum rank/player rank? right now, it is sort of messy, and if you are curious who all of the skilled players are, you have to sift through the forum ranks. http://tasvideos.org/MostActivePosters.html

So, let me get this straight.... You've made 5 multi-paragraph posts in this thread, and you expect people to take your opinion as valid, and you didn't even take the time to watch the movie? Seriously, you've just lost all credibility in this thread, because you haven't even seen the source material for which you are arguing over. Do you even care about TASes, or are you on this site just to argue?

Now if the Konami code was a glitch, and it gave you superpowers? That's a different story. It's not an intentional button input under certain circumstances, now... it's become a chance occurance, the accidental access of code due to luck and random coding.
I'm not sure you understood what I was saying. Please read my example again. To recapitulate: The so-called "konami code" is an intentional cheat that Konami put into many of their games. It isn't just a random glitch that just happens to give you immunity or whatever the code does in a specific game. It has been deliberately coded into the game to give you that cheat. Using this kind of purposeful cheat is generally forbidden by the rules because it makes the TASing rather moot and pointless. Now, and this is the most important point, it doesn't matter how the konami code is being triggered, it's still forbidden. Even if you trigger it by abusing some glitch it doesn't make it any more acceptable.
I agreed with you up to this point. Your assumption is that the konami code triggered by a glitch is NOT acceptable. I would state that is wrong, it is a situation that has not yet been explored by the site. You raised an interesting point, and stated it more eloquently than I , but you took it too far. The decision on this run sets a presidence for cheat codes triggered by glitches, in a sense. That decision has not yet been made.

Sorry about disappearing for a while. I only now got around to taking a good look at this script. Seems pretty exclusive to FCEUX with the need for iup, but darn sweet regardless. At the moment, I'm trying to formulate something even more intuitive than the pop-up box. This would take a "run-while-paused" gui.register and something like this script's ability to type stuff on the spot. The script I linked to attempts to make FCEUX's natural subtitles easier to handle. Yep, I feel like we're competing on subtitles now. A small competition, but let's see what we can build! ... Not many emulators support a "run-while-paused" gui.register. This does limit the scope of use somewhat...
I was hoping for more of a collaboration than a competition! Also, for some run-while-paused applications, I came up with a crappy pause -
Language: lua

savestate.save(PAUSE_STATE) while paused do savestate.load(PAUSE_STATE) emu.frameadvance(); -- some code to end the pause end;
This allows you to have input on frames, while not actually moving forward. Cheesy, cheap, but it works.

Well, it is extremely easy to take the moral high ground when you are not the one taking the risk. Each copyright violation could cost up to 250,000 dollars per user that downloaded the ROM from this site. Sure, you can wax on poetically about the reality of the situation, and how little game publishers care, but you AREN'T THE ONE PUTTING YOUR ASS ON THE LINE. Given that the ramifications can be in the MILLIONS OF DOLLARS, legal liability isn't something to trust to 'everyone knowing and understanding the situation.' So, get off your high horse of superiority, and realize that in the real world, people have to cover their own asses. Is it hypocritical? Sure. Does that matter out here in the real world? Hell no.

The debug menu is definitely unreachable without the glitch (and without a Game Genie - the only other way to get to it); whatever means were originally used to access it were disabled when the game was released. This probably does count as an exception to the rule, since the debug menu cannot be accessed without extraordinary measures. Of course, I can't make the call myself, but that's my opinion.
Personally I think that using such a debug menu to "cheat" in the game is completely equivalent to using a cheat-key (such as the Konami code). It makes absolutely no difference how the cheat is entered (ie. whether there's legitimate support in the game or whether it's done via a glitch). The Konami code (for Konami games supporting it) is forbidden for a good reason, and the same reasons apply to this case as well, IMO. The Konami code wouldn't become any more acceptable if it was triggered using a glitch.
This is actually what I was trying to express in my post - it seems like the konami code executed through a glitch. What if there was a similar style control-based code to get to the debug menu? I doubt this would be acceptable then.... however -

The Konami cheat code analogy doesn't really work here, because it's something the developers knowingly left available to players... it isn't showing off anything really impressive. This, by contrast, shows an abuse of game mechanics to achieve a result never intended by the programmers. To me, that's an example of superplay.
This is a well stated reason as to why it could be acceptable.
