I hope the guidelines make that somewhat clear. I posted some initial thoughts about this here, but I agree that this doesn't answer your question very well. Therefore I hope there will also be some suggestions made for guidelines, and if we end up agreeing on some kind of answer to your question, it might be good to work it into the guidelines somehow. I'm not satisfied with either the formulation, or the specifics of the guidelines, so input is welcome.

Will you ever get over the past? One thing I can only repeat over and over is that Super Metroid isn't Chrono Trigger. The knowledge I gained in SM over all this years is just not comparable to CT, so don't worry, I won't make the same mistake anymore.
I think people are largely over looking the things that were not so good in the old days. This tends to be a strong factor in just about every aspect in life e.g. 50/60's were better compared to 80/90's. Normally this is what happens when diversity takes place over time.

Where would we get the isos to make the tas', though (rehtorical[sp], mind you). I mean, it is a lot more difficult to find dumps of massive GCN iso's than any 1,000 kb snes rom or whatever. Unless EVERY movie was encoded to AVI and shared that way, a GCN TAS would be quite pointless due to the average internet user not being able to find or not being able to download a whole, clean, [!] GCN iso to watch the movie... the emulation is a small step for TASing, but easy to find isos are the bigger jump.. imho (To cover my ass i give a disclaimer: I am NOT asking for places to get the roms, as stated I was thinking hypothetically and I really dont care to know where I can get the roms or any of that jazz)
