Isn't this area for tas/speedruns of things that are not accepted by this site? Which makes this the proper place? Even if not 100% exciting?

Sorry - work has gotten extremely busy - haven't had much time for this these days. Things should slow down by... Late august, I hope...

Uh, my idea wasn't to actually label the category boring - boring is too subjective for my tastes. Just an 'unpublishable' list of movies- for example, the latest OoT movie. It's a record holder, but 'unpublishable' for various faults. This serves a few purposes. The queue is overloaded, and it would reduce the need to 'publish' borderline entertainment movies. As adelikat said, it would making judging 'boring' movies easier, and not hurt feelings, and all that crap. Finally, if you wanted to view a run for a game, and didn't find it in the main list, you could find the best suboptimal one (whether for entertainment, playing, etc) in this list. (As oppose to searching the forums, which is like asking for a million dollars.) Alden- Genesis Outrun.

Yeah, I really like your Gruefood delight page. I wish you would add all the bad game choice ones, and put them in alphabetical order. I also wish I had a million dollars, so take that wish with the same level of adherence.

To get back to the main topic, I'd like to see a 'category' for all gruefood that is fastest completion of a game that was 'too boring to publish'. (Not a published avi, not an image file, or even a description, only a game/rom name, and matching input-movie file) This would allow competition for even the unpublishable games, and maybe some games that are borderline publishable could be put in this category to make everyone happy. Essentially, a record book for TASes, which removes the goal of entertainment. (Also, no crazy 100% completed, no glitches, etc categories. Straight goal of getting to the end however fastest possible, with same rule of hardest difficulty, etc.) This won't happen here, since Bisq has made it pretty obvious that it is out of line with the goals of this site.

This thread is decidedly less epic than should be expected with a SM thread. My popcorn is getting stale.

If the flying glitch had been more extensive and usable, this would have been a good video. However, it looks like a crappy rendition of the Gens game, as is. Meh.

Man, I just watched your original run a few days ago. I loved this game as a kid. Obvious yes vote. Related Story: I went to Consumer Electronics Show back in around 95, iirc. Nintendo had a booth set up, with a 'stump the experts' part. If you could stump them, you got a free power guide. One of my dad's coworkers stumped them with a Legacy of the Wizard question. I tried to use Uninvited's 'how do you open the Starbox question.' Dude I asked was like, I just played that 2 days ago. Blah blah blah. I was very upset as a child.

I agree with both of you to an extent. Video game movies are in general pretty bad... But popular opinion shows that Uwe Boll are the worst. It's not that any video game movie is particularly good... but Uwe Boll's are just especially bad... Not without good reason. Essentially, it's a real-life representation of the Producers. German financiers get to write-off 100% of movie-backing on their taxes. Then, when a movie tanks, they also get to write off the losses. Therefore, they actually stand to gain more by his movies flopping, then they do by them being a success. (They'd have to pay taxes on the income earned, as oppose to 100% return on their taxes.

I agree, with the "right" director and big budget, a Zelda movie has huge potential to be equally good as Lord of the Rings. Another upcoming movie who share the same potential is Masters Of The Universe.
I nominate Uwe Boll!

This is very typical for SF games. You need to create a zero byte Shining Force 2 (U) [!].srm, and set it to read-only. Then, every time you play back the movie from the start, you MUST re-open the ROM in Gens. Gens doesn't reset the SRM data without re-opening the ROM.

I'm going to have to disagree with you here: 1) Bisqwit has no responsibility to TASvideos. He made it, it is his to do with as he pleases. The fact that others happen to enjoy the fruits of his effort does not create an obligation to them on his part. Though if it were any other moderator besides Bisqwit, this point would have some validity... If you were correct about point 2 -- pps: yes I am taking this topic too seriously, but only because darkkobold should be smarter than that.[/size]
I see your point: Bisqwit's site, Bisqwit's playground. Thats great and all for Bisqwit, but bad for the 'TASVideos community' in the long run. As an aside, I do not think Bisqwit ever even expected or wanted a 'community' in the first place. However, there is a community, and by being the final authority on who gets banned, what gets published, and etc, it is best for everyone if he stays neutral and mature, regardless of the situation. Additionally, this attitude gives the 'me too' part of the community the validation to escalate harassment of the individual. However, this is me placing my values system where Bisqwit's is. This may not be true for him. And I should hope that you wouldn't consider a difference in opinion on 'community management' a reflection on intelligence. If you mean that I'm not seeing the 'humor' of this thread, I don't find it funny at all when someone in a position of power belittles someone below them.

While AKA's grammar was poor, an administrator of any forum should be above the childish act of making a public mockery of anyone. AKA stated it best, if Bisqwit's true intention was to make the forum more readable, he would have silently fixed the post, and not made it such a public issue. Additionally, we have numerous Chinese posters whose submission/author text is an abomination to read. I often am left scratching my head at the tricks and glitches used... yet those important parts of a video go completely uncorrected, to the detriment of this site. On the other hand, Bisqwit took the time to make the image in question, for a single meaningless post in the workbench. I'm saddened by the immature behavior.

I voted Meh. Not to be mean... It just wasn't that interesting for a TAS imo. I thought the opposite of Outrun, and was out-voted by the community. To each their own.

Playstation TASing is on the way, if you believe PSXauthor. Atari TASing probably won't ever happen since I can only think of 3 Atari games with finite endings: Pitfall (100% treasure), Indiana Jones and Lost Ark (God I loved that game, even though I could never beat it.), and E.T. (The death of Atari! YAY!)
