Funny enough, you can hold the button down, simply by left clicking, and then right clicking while still holding the left button down. Releasing the left button no longer helps. As long as you don't lose focus, you are 'holding the button' TOOL - ASSISTANCE!

Can anyone make a graph of movies that do obsolete an old movie and those that don't vs. date?

So is Dega suppose to work with some/all/any GG roms? SFII Haja does not work. Game crashes when you press start at the title screen.

I don't know what you are talking about. This game is great. I loooove Shining Force II! I want this putrid game to burn with the fire of 1000 suns. Errr uh..... First off, I'll be demonstrating a glitch which allows you to skip 3/4s of the battles, however, the glitch doesn't actually allow you to complete the game. So, it dangles this nice juicy 'bestest TAS glitch ever' and then punches you in the kidneys, steals your wallet, and sleeps with your wife. Second off, the wonderful fun things I could do in SF1, like pick any random battle order I wanted, achieve double hit double criticals with impunity, force enemies to miss like they were guys that failed to become stormtroopers due to aiming problems, those are all gone. This is all due to a crappy new randomization method, which I can only select once per character. Oh, you want a character to double hit as the last character in the round? Better like whatever battle order you get, because that is what you are going to get. Sucka. Finally, there used to be numerous ways to win a 'battle', by entering the town early, or by walking around 90% of the enemies, and killing the final boss. Now, you can walk up to a town as the main character. you can stand outside the town like some kind of crappy rendition of a christmas carol, but if one bat is off on the corner of the map playing a one man game of catch, you have to kill him, because apparently Bowie is a homicidal maniac. Oh, and of the 40 billion battles in this game, only like .0001 battles actually end when you kill the final boss, and then, he is surrounded by so many enemies, you'd think there was a discount on retarded enemy lackies at the retarded enemy lackies store. Phew. So take out everything that made SF1 a good TAS, piss on it, claw its eyes out, and then turn it into soup and eat it from an old tire, and you have my general thoughts on this TAS.

Well, I figured out the movement glitch. Some pretty cool things will be doable in this movie... However, massive sequence breaks don't work too often, due to the linear nature of the game. First use of it won't be for a few battles, since it only works to the right or down. (With varied exceptions). With that said, I will be continuing this run. Here is a new attempt with the speed-up code everyone requested. http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/512626796/Shining%20Force%20II%20%28U%29%20%5B%21%5D.gmv This game angers me on so many levels.

There is only one way to decide which movie gets published: CAGE FIGHT! Voted yes on this movie, real-time beats in-game time (to me)

Omega: It seems very disorganized. Also, a lot of projects seem like they are started and never finished. I keep hoping on finding a site for finished games, like the one in this thread.

Cool. Thanks for the quick response. On point 3, just as a hypothetical, if you had maintained enough speed from before entering the boss room, would the jumping to maintain p-meter work to allow you to enter the floor? Or doesn't it work that way? (You'd probably lose the 15 frames due to a sub-optimal boss fight, hence the hypothetical nature)

Lots of questions, but voting yes. 1st: Could the enter the pipe sooner glitch be used here? 2nd: Can the pyramid in W2 not be skipped like... oh, most of world 7? 3rd:Can you enter the floor of an airship (like bowser), to end the falling scene faster? 4th: At some point in the run, you slow down to get a mushroom at the end, and then, the next level, you get a flower, making it star-mushroom-flower. Was there a reason to slow down and get the mushroom? (I can't seem to find it now) Finally, it would have been nice if you had saved the clouds for autscrollers in world 8, since you already have a video showing those off. However, that isn't a negative, just a consideration.

Does anyone have any statistics on how many movies are 'new' as in, do not obsolete an old movie, vs. the number of obsoleting movies? It seems to me, that the majority of submissions and publications are on 'old' material. Thus, it isn't a lack of new games, its a lack of interest in doing them.

I've been playing this some today, and I have some questions: 1. Is there anyway to sort the itemlist? Right now, my itemlist looks like chaos, so it would be nice with such a feature. 2. What does crisis do? My crisis bar is at its max right now, but I don't know what to do with it... 3. I would personally find it nice to see how much money you have in total when you have won a battle, not just how much money you got from the fight. Overall, the game is looking very promising. I'll keep on playing this some more, hopefully I'll reach a weapon shop sooner or later... ;)
1. The item list is usually auto-sorted - first useable healing items, next in battle items, then weapons, armor, rings, spell cards. Probably, you just don't have enough items yet for it to seem sorted. 2. Crisis requires spell cards. All spell cards have a regular ability and a crisis ability, the later being super powerful in some way. Healing spells all have a 'heal the entire party' crisis effect. It doesn't help until you get a full party, however, which is a few missions out. 3. I'm wondering if you think I wrote the game.... I didn't. I just played it, and absolutely loved it. I figured the FF nuts on the board would love it. It is actually kinda old, I think.

I just finished [playing] it, and it was amazing. It is really a throw back to the good Final Fantasies of the SNES days. The plot is better than the past 3 FFs, with real twists and turns. The bosses actually prove to be a mental challenge. Lots of side quests near then end, as well. It is the FF I've been clamoring for since FFIX and beyond sucked. Unfortunately, it took me forever to find a working download location, and its from a sketchy Brazilian site, but it worked for me. http://baixaki.ig.com.br/download/Last-Scenario.htm

well, for every frame, there's 2^8 input possibilities, or 256. If you take a video that's 10 minutes long, that's 60fps * 600 sec = 36000 frames, giving you a total number of 9,216,000 different movie possibilities.
You're wrong: the number of possibilities is about 10^86696 (BigAl ftw!)
Indeed, Titus Kwok's calculation (256 * 36000) would hold true in the case that you have 36000 possible choices for a single frame where you will hit any of the 256 button combinations, and the rest of the movie is completely blank. But when each frame has 256 choices, the total number of possibilities comes to 256^36000, i.e. approximately 10^86696. In other news, you responded to almost a year old post, which was already responded to by Rusty.
Actually, I was the first bumper, so it is my fault. Additionally, neither post was on topic. In the case of chess, if you have a pawn, you can hit Down Left Right, and it won't matter. Only up will. And it will only matter during your turn, not every frame of the game. That was the point of this quickly derailed thread. Strategy games have limited moves, unlike an action game.

All these seem more irritating than hard. Hardest part? Looking at the decompiled source for the first time, looking for very specific things, when you have zero idea how the game works in the first place. Assembly is the least friendly language ever.

actually, I've done semi-test runs of this game, and there is good info on the SDA forum. First and foremost, you can trigger the note in the bar to be the meeting between the brigand and Bruno if you free Barnard before noon on the first day. Getting into 2 goblin fights allows you to rest your way to night easier. You do NOT need to do the first Baba Yaga quest to use the mirror on her. I think that doing the first two is required for fastest time, and the 3rd part is so fast, that it is worth doing to 'fully' complete the game. Grab the mirror, go to BY, and defeat her. All this can be done by noon on the 2nd day. Fully tested.

Any working theory on the trick? Such as "if you grab the flagpole beneath its bottom (by entering the block it is standing on), the game will skip the flag lowering animation, giving a faster completion time"?
Also, how does this effect the 21 frame rule and fireworks? I'm not clear on either, so it may have zero effect.

Even with addiction to a TAS, eventually you have to beat the game. I was actually addicted to TASing a certain game this semester. It didn't really hurt me in anyway... but I could tell when I'd sit in class and create strategies for the TAS. Thank god they eventually end.
