This thread hasn't had activity since July. Has PSX TAS'ing been abandoned?

This is a pointless video. It is the same as entering a cheat code to get to the end of the game. Also, it wasn't necessary to make to prove a point

Voting No, because you didn't chase any girls. Sorry, just kidding. Easy Yes vote. Quick Question: Is there a way to kill the first boss closer to the door, so you don't have as far to walk? Edit: The screen shot needs to be one where Jason is the same color as Halo's Master Chief. The resemblance is uncanny.

It is the quality of the video. Newcomers don't make the best videos due to experience, not friendship. Movies are judged on quality, not friends.

Just so you know, I'm working on this run at the same time as SF2. I've managed to determine how to get the jump on an enemy. Now I just need to determine how to get the enemy I want. Additionally, Criticals and misses seem to be very complex. The RNG is fairly difficult to manipulate, since 80% of the frames in this game do not accept input.

The website needs a picture of the woman who is forcing him to sell it.

Did some experimenting with this. It not only speeds up Cursor movement, it speeds up question dialogs, and text and face dialogs (no move in and move out of picture, simply appear and disappear). However, whether or not this code will be allowed on this site is a totally different question. I could see this being quite controversial.

Two little things that might be completely justified but I didn't understand: (1) Can you avoid getting the heat axe for Gort? It takes some time, albeit not very much, and isn't really used for anything.
Same with the Atlas in this run, the only way to avoid getting the item is to have a full inventory. Since no one has a full inventory at either point, they are impossible to not pick-up.

(2) I guess you had some trouble getting Pelle killed. He was pretty much useless in at least the two battles prior to being killed. Is there no way to unload him earlier?
Actually, Pelle was a necessity 2 battles before he was killed. He kills the two Golden Garygoyle things at the beginning of the round. If anyone else could have done this, he could have been killed at the Mishaela fight. The tower battle is the only battle he sits after becoming useless. Additionally, Max is the only one who is strong enough to kill the Gargoyle other than Pelle. This would throw off his experience balance, if he were able to reach them.

I wonder if some time could be gained by switching the mobility ring between members on the forests/mountain part, but it's so obvious I guess you'd have already thought of it. I'll still watch the queue for more details about this run. Congrats!
The big problem being switching the mobility ring causes the turn to end, takes 1.5 seconds to switch, and 1.5 seconds to equip. Additionally, imagine this (P1 has mobility ring) P1 - - - > P2 P1 Gives P2 mobility ring P1 P2 - - - > Next turn P1 - - - > _ _ P2 P1 can no longer reach P2 to get mobility ring, due to decreased movement. Additionally, P2 would have to 'skip' a turn to give P1 the mobility ring. (since he is held back by P1's movement.) Finally, I don't know of any battle where it would make any change, since all forest/mountain areas are achieved by the birds wiping out an enemy or enemies, post mobility ring in chapter 5. Just wanted to answer your question :) Sorry for the novel.

The other problem is, the question asks "Were you entertained by this movie" Not: "Were you MORE entertained by this movie than the published one?" If you are entertained by every movie, kinda loses any ability to compare.

Since my last movie sat in the queue for months, I managed to restart the game from scratch, and save 13 minutes, 45K frames. However, since I really like the old movie, and it was destined for publication, I'm going to make an unprecedented request: Please 'publish' that movie, and obsolete it right away. No encoding necessary, but it allows me to discuss the differences. Additionally, it makes this movie more interesting, for the reasons noted in the submission.

Actually, if you notice the poll question is "did you enjoy watching this movie?" That is a pretty subjective standard. And if you read through the FAQ (I think that's where it was anyway), Bisqwit says that he would use entertainment as the obsoletion criterion if he felt he could judge it fairly.
I went back and read the FAQ. Wow, it seems to go against the entire site, and entire reason most movies are obsoleted. Also, to others, I didn't say this didn't contain superplay parts, I just said some parts were not that super-ish.

As promised: http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/136230091/Shining%20Force%20II%20%28U%29%20%5B%21%5D.gmv It is nowhere near as impressive as SF1. Oh. and I had misspoken earlier. It is a maximum of 18 minutes between 2 RNG values, with the RNG executing once per frame. Also, killing characters to save time appears to be a moot point. The game has auto-revive built into many battles, so I may abuse that. Criticals appear to do 150% damage, Double attacks do 200%, and counters do 50%. This reduces the usefulness of both criticals and counters. Apparently, there may be many more bugs in the Japanese version. It may be worth switching to be able to abuse them.

Voted very much no. This belongs in the thread for "do something funny" not a published run on this site. Even though some parts were enjoyable, I don't see how following a girl around is "superplay" nor is randomly punching the other player, and other such ridiculous parts. It will be entirely upsetting if this movie obsoletes the current one. I thought we were trying to avoid using 'subjective' things like entertainment to judge a movie.

I looked into this more last night. I've got code for predicting both attacks and battle order, but I'm not 100% sure it will work past the first battle. Also, this is going to be hellishly more difficult, since the rates for misses, criticals, doubles, and counters are all currently 1/32. I'll post a starter WIP tomorrow, or over the weekend. Plus, I should be able to lock down requests for a special GENs version.

During movie playback/recording: When loading a save state that is inconsistent with a movie, you are prompted whether or not to load the save state. However, after selecting no, the save state loads anyway. Additionally, it would be really nice if Gens would release files such as trace.log so you don't have to quit gens to edit it, delete it, and etc.

Why are some runs published only a few days after submission, while some stay in the queue for months? Complexity? Popularity? Randomization Algorithm?

I don't know this game at all, but I may be able to help with the luck manipulation, if you want to try again. I don't know how popular this game ever was, or how interesting a time attack would really be.

Two questions: Are you still intently pursuing DOSBox as a possibility on this site? Perhaps I'm missing something, but the statistics for movies page is very hard to find. I had to google to find it before. Is there a reason why it isn't on the front page, or am I just missing something?
