Hooray for ending the fight with Guile's hilarious upside-down kick. :) So far so good; I'm curious to see how you're going to manage to keep things varied though. Good luck!

I played only a little of Alundra 2, but from what I remember, it's a 3D game, while of course Alundra 1 is 2D. That means that basically all movement will be completely different, and it's very likely that nothing about Alundra 1 will help with Alundra 2. Unfortunate! I wish you luck with your TAS though!

Ah, thanks for the clarification. Approaching 6 from the wrong end also added a lot of frames in my approach. Whoops!

However, the password itself can be much more optimized. The current one takes 25 frames to input. A better choice is: 1 1 1 1 8 3 1 8 6 1 1 1, which takes 9 frames.
I'm not saying you're wrong, but even assuming that you can move and change a digit in the same frame, how can you do that in 9 frames? Move down and switch to 9 Switch to 8 Move right and switch to 2 Switch to 3 Move right Move right and switch to 9 Switch to 8 Move right and switch to 2 (assuming we can wrap around like that) Switch to 6 (four more frames) That's 12 frames...still less than 25, though.

I am a bit worried that these discussions even occur - I've lurked here for years now, and as of late a great many movies are being rejected based on the rules of the site; in the past, the site rules actually were changed instead of letting a good movie get turned down because of them.
You have a pretty solid nostalgia filter there. As far back as I can remember, we've spent most of our time on the Workbench bitching about the rules and/or about runs that break them.

it’s not really a walkathon, is it? that’s just a side-effect of the glitched password, which makes you skip boots it’s not like it was a goal choice, I mean
The fact that you can't dash is a big part of opening up the entertainment options, since the runner has much more time on his hands to creatively dispatch enemies. So I don't think it's that unreasonable to call it a walkathon.

The modifier keys (alt, shift, etc.) typically have the best support for having multiple keys down at the same time, so if you need lots of keys pressed together, then you'll have to rely on them.

The scrolling text is comments, in Japanese of course. You can disable that by clicking on the speech bubble in the lower-right corner. The lack of actual video is a problem I've had many times with Nicovideo, unfortunately. Dunno what causes it.

Youtube staff don't check the validity of the copyright claims they get. Even if they are blatantly fake, the video will still be removed on the spot, because that's how their system works. It's sort of an automated process. File a complain, get a video immediately removed, no questions asked. You still have the option to dispute the claim, though.
As I understand the DMCA, they are required to behave this way. Any complaint must result in an immediate removal of the offending content. However, they are also required to put that content back up if the person who uploaded it claims that the complaint was erroneous -- at that point, the uploader and the complainer have to duke things out in court. Of course, I'm not a lawyer, so I may be misrepresenting things. That's just my understanding.

No, there's no TV license in the United States. However, there also aren't any government-run TV channels; the closest you get is PBS (Public Broadcasting Station) which is nonprofit and relies heavily on both viewer support and government grants. Instead, the wavelengths used to broadcast TV over the air have been auctioned off to the companies that use them; they're required to conform to broadcasting standards (meaning that anyone with a TV and antenna can watch what is broadcasted) and make their profits off of advertising.

I wouldn't really consider this to be low% by the traditional meaning of the word. If nothing else, a low% run should generally be no faster than the any% run. Maybe "glitched low%". I do feel strongly that the category needs to indicate that it's glitched. As for the run itself, seeing the weapons in the first stage was interesting, and the slower pace through the fortress levels left more room for playing around (which you made good use of), so it was decently entertaining. I'll go ahead and vote yes for it.

What happens if you don't grab 15 fruit in a level? The play certainly seemed optimized, but the game doesn't look all that interesting. Voting meh for game choice.

Looks good. :) I guess the different weapons don't change your tactics that much, but they're a nice change of pace anyway. Kinda weird how there's a massive lull near the end of the level, though.

Neato. I look forward to seeing more of it. :) Regarding 1P vs. 2P, I've always found split-screen multiplayer FPS runs incredibly hard to follow. So 1P is actually preferable as far as I'm concerned.

10 seconds, heh. The problem with running this game is that there's a huge number of people finding improvements all the time, and the 120-star TAS wants to have the best strategies for every star. Unfortunately many stars are somewhat random (e.g. getting coin drops from boxes) and thus the game isn't always hex-friendly. All that means that the people working on the 120-star TAS have to re-do a lot of stars over and over again when improvements in early stars are found.

I think it works fine without the death -- you can readily claim that it's a stylistic decision even though you're making that decision after the fact. :)

I remember trying to play this game, and finding it to be absolutely brutal. Your character moves slowly and has short-range attacks, and dodging enemies if I recall correctly is extraordinarily difficult. The ability to just walk through enemies by abusing hit frames makes this game seem much simpler than it actually is. I didn't see anything that said to me "this can be improved!" though I do have one question -- I'm assuming that, during the Pride refight, you can't shoot your sword projectiles any slower? If there could have been fewer projectiles on screen, then the lag would probably have been reduced. It would be nice if the submission notes included a description of whatever it was that was picked up before the Tower of Souls. Anyway, I'll go ahead and give this a yes vote. It's not the most entertaining run in the world, but it was well-made and systematically broke a horribly hard game to bits, and there's always value in that.

No they don't.

Presumably the TAS would be operating under the restriction that suicide is not allowed. There are plenty of TASes which have rules based on "Well, this would be entertaining, except for this one weird bit, so I'll have to make a rule so that bit doesn't interfere."

I'm giving this a meh. Mostly because it gets really old having every second computer match be interrupted by a new challenger and then watching you fight yourself. Every so often it works, and in some cases you use it really well. (I love when Dhalsim does that slam move that freezes the game and the only way to move on is to bring in a second player.) But I want to watch you fight computer opponents. The PVP matches just aren't as interesting. If it wasn't for the constant interruptions, this would be a huge yes from me.
Contrarily, I find the computer matches to be less interesting than the vs. matches, because they're just no-holds-barred beatdowns. Certainly there's some entertainment there, but there are far fewer opportunities to surprise the audience; mostly it's just trying to string together attacks in as creative a manner as possible. Meanwhile the vs. matches have some tension because you don't know which side is going to win.
