His eyes are exactly 1x2 pixels each, which doesn't seem unreasonable, though I admit I haven't played the game myself. What looks wrong about them?

Clearly "SD" stands for "super duper" and thus should be used only for encodes of at least 1 gigapixel per frame.

Terminal gives you access to commandline utilities, which can do some things faster than a GUI can. For example, if you want to move all .jpg files in a given directory somewhere else, in the GUI you'd switch the directory listing to sort by type, drag to select all the .jpg files, and then drag them into the new destination; on the commandline, you'd type "mv *jpg destination". Of course there are some things the GUI does better than the commandline; it's all a matter of the right tool for the job. However, basically any non-graphical work I need to do I know how to do on the commandline, so it scores bonus points for familiarity.

Gotta say, that big "GAME OVER" over most of the screens is really killing the entertainment for me. :| I guess that's what categories are for though. One glitched-out run and one unglitched.

Wow, that was pretty dull. The highlight, if you can call it that, was probably how they couldn't even be bothered to keep the klaxon at the end in sync with the countdown timer. Still, it's an improvement to a published movie. Nice work, Aqfoobis. Thanks for the encode, Sgrunt! Or sgrunt or whatever.

So far I've not completed any TASes or contributed any code, and people still tolerate my presence! Or at least they're polite enough not to say anything to my face.

Awhile back I used to make chainmaille, and I had a project I was working on to make a chain shirt with an inlaid wolf head, which is this icon. Never did finish the inlay, unfortunately...would've been a nice shirt if I had.

Thanks for the detailed explanation. Makes sense. :) Sounds like you might have to spam levelups during the nighttime then. Or take non-STR levelups when human? Not that boosting STR would help much at this point, would it?

That is pretty dull, but if it's only two minutes then it can be skipped over. What exactly is going on there?

Looked good to me. I should try playing this game sometime; it looks pretty interesting.

The game also only dizzies if you do the "right" dodge (i.e. low if they go high, high if they go low) regardless of what position you have with respect to your opponent. So for example, if you're standing above them on a slope and they go to punch, then you have to dodge high to avoid the punch but can only go low to dizzy. I think there's also situations in which you can't get hit no matter what dodge you do, but doing the right dodge dizzies them.

Holy hot pink borders, Batman! Sounds good on the run, though.

So you submit a movie without any intent to see it published. Established members can get away with a few joke submissions, but new members tend to get labeled as trolls. Why shouldn't we label this a troll submission?

Arukado was overly dismissive, but he does have a point. You simply aren't going to be able to make a run that meets the quality criteria for this site without using frame advance. Even back in the old days before we had frame advance, players were playing the game at 6% speed and getting near-frame-precision on their inputs -- and they would retry segments over and over again until that near-frame-precision was frame-precise. You're welcome to not use frame advance. But that will negatively affect the quality of your run, and it most likely will not be accepted here. And if you don't want your run to be accepted, then why are you submitting it for publication? Please, before you submit your next run, post it to the thread for the game and let other people give you feedback. We're much harsher to submitted runs on the workbench than we are to WIPs posted to the game threads.

Class changing a character is only relevant if their increased offense makes up for the time spent on the class change. As I understand it Lise is basically irrelevant with or without class changing -- it's not worth spending the time to level her up / buy her better weapons since that time could be better used letting Kevin attack more. Hawk's more of an edge case since he does contribute some useful damage.

Generally, I'd ignore the votes. Read what people are saying about the movie. That's far more informative, and they may have questions that they want you to answer, too. The voting is just to get a quick feeling for how people feel about the movie.

It's been awhile since I played, but isn't Captain Blue basically awesome except that he can't see the warnings from incoming attacks? I'd guess that for character variations, the two most interesting would be Joe and Alastor, since they play most differently. And the most powerful attack is the slow, zoomed-in punch, isn't it? As far as TASing is concerned, you'll be in fast-forward a lot of the time, won't you? That should be...interesting.

Thanks for clarifying, Praetarius. And for those spells you can't stop, at least you have Reisz/Lise handy to take the damage. :)

My guess is that this is intended to stop streaming of movies and TV shows -- the MPAA et al don't want to have to spend their own money playing whack-a-mole with YouTube uploaders, so instead they're getting the government to deal with it, by making it a criminal matter instead of a civil one. Videogames are just another casualty. Not that I think that it's a good idea even for that purpose.

Everything is judged on entertainment value. It just so happens that, for fighting games, speed factors into entertainment much less than for most other games.

He's glitching the heck out of the game, you do know that right? Kevin's strength stat is glitched way beyond what would be achievable via levelups. As for magic defense, there's a multiplier in the game code that kicks in if the character has changed class. In other words, the magic defense equation is different for base classes vs. upgraded classes.

The main issue with hacks of Super Metroid is that there's multiple versions of the ROM out there, some with headers and some without, and the hack patch doesn't work if it's applied to the wrong type of ROM.

Very nice. My favorite parts were the shinespark slow falls to go down the shafts that were meant to be shortcuts in the other direction. :) Interesting that it's faster to kill Kraid than to use the Norfair back door. I guess the lava swim requires too many energy tanks for that route to be worthwhile?

Well, that was brief. I think the moment of greatest amusement for me was when Link formed a suicide pact with the ninja in Ikana Temple, but the whole thing was excellently done.
