Oh, you're so funny! That joke never gets old! I'm sure Mac users appreciate being told how inferior they are every time their operating system gets brought up. Surely one of these days they'll get the message. (In related news, you have the right to make stupid jokes, and I have the right to tell you you're an idiot)

Ah, misunderstood. I thought you were saying "There's concern that the game could desync", but you're actually saying "make certain you get the right path through the game, which is determined when you start". There should be no risk of desyncs, since the playback will always give the same RNG state at the time a new game is started.

Seems a straightforward-enough game. Very straightforward, in fact. My only major complaint is why didn't Obelix just walk out of there? It's not like there's a force in the world that could keep him prisoner...

Warp's implication is that if you have replaced some of the textures, then you might have also hacked the gameplay. Of course, you can hack the gameplay without changing textures too, but many people aren't really rational enough to think about that. They'll see something that doesn't fit (even though it has no relevance on gameplay) and think that everything else you did is therefore invalidated. Or maybe you'll get lucky and get actually intelligent YouTube comments. Be sure to let Google know if this happens; I think they have a prize for the first person that happens to...

I'm not familiar with the game, but as long as the "game pattern" depends on the starting state of the game there should be no problem. The movie starts from a known state (freshly-initialized "blank" Playstation) and everything follows deterministically from there. Or does the pattern depend on some poorly-emulated aspect of the hardware or something?

If the queue is empty, then there are no threads on the Workbench. It has happened once before.

If I recall correctly, the doc bots have invincibility time after getting hit. Still might be useful, especially if you already have Rush out (does it work with Rush Jet and Rush Marine too?), but mostly just to make the first hit arrive sooner.

No, no, go ahead, especially if you can introduce some new glitches. I'll just keep the previous run around as well so I can enjoy the music when I want to.

"Nitsuja" is, of course, "a justin" reversed. It just happens to look a lot like "ninja". (This became more obvious when we had nitsujrehtona on the site for awhile)

Regarding the uncapping of Youtube time limits, does this mean 'everyone' can upload a video of any time length? I need to test this..
If I correctly understand Flygon's post, basically users that are attracting lots of viewers to the site are rewarded by being allowed to upload larger videos.

Capcom has been doing nothing but riffing off of their previous works for the better part of a decade. Why would they stop now?

Aww, destroying the music would really hurt the entertainment of the run. :\ Well, it's not like the existing run will go away. If a run with the pause tech is published then I'd recommend it include a link to the current run in its description.

Rockman is the only one that can get all CDs, since some of them require Rush Dig to pick up. So at least for the 100% run, Forte is out of the running. Generally, Forte can navigate levels faster thanks to dash-jumps and double-jumps, but Rockman can take down bosses faster thanks to charged shots. As zips get more prevalent in the levels, Forte's advantage there becomes marginalized, but I don't know if it's entirely out of the picture yet.

Aile crawls faster than Vent does, if nothing else. I think she also recoils more when hit, but that's not generally much of an issue.

If the replay file is indeed a replay file, you should in theory be able to do everything that a traditional emulator can do by editing that file. It'd just be horrendously tedious because you'd have to play back the entire movie to see what effect your edits had. Generally, my opinion on this kind of thing is that it does meet the standards for "tool-assisted"; the only remaining question is if it meets the standards for entertainment.

There are almost certainly lots more solutions, so feel free to try to come up with your own! I apologize for rushing my own solution out, but I do have an ulterior motive... I used Blender to find the solution. It's not really designed for this kind of thing (for example, it cares not a whit if two blocks occupy the same physical space), but it worked well enough.

I just now found a solution. It was a big help to start out by placing as many of the 3D pieces as possible, saving the comparitively easier-to-work-with 2D pieces for the endgame. I've put my solution online as an image sequence here and as an animation here. In each case the four pieces shown at the end are the pentacubes that weren't used. It's entirely possible that there are solutions that use those pieces, though. Solving this was fun. And now I can use this as the basis for making a real-world version of the puzzle.

Ahh, English. What a language. :)
I'm Norwegian man, English isn't my primary language :) Please don't expect me to spell every word correctly, although I'm trying my best.
It wasn't so much the spelling as it was the "I can't X, but I can X" phrasing. No worries though.

Yes, brute force is rather out of the question. That's one of the reasons why it'd make a good physical puzzle -- I'm considering trying to make one out of wooden cubes but I'd like to know that there is a solution (and, ideally, what the solution is) before I start work. EDIT: I've managed to create a 5x5x5 cube in Blender that re-uses one pentacube once (the one that's a 2x2 square with an extra piece tacked on in the same plane). A render of the cube (minus the duplicated piece) and the unused pentacubes:

Would it be possible to get those explanations added to the submission description?

There are 29 distinct pentacubes (combinations of five cubes in three dimensions, similar to tetrominoes). Is it possible to construct a 5x5x5 cube from pentacubes without using a particular pentacube more than once? Obviously four pentacubes would be unused as there is only room for 125 blocks. I don't actually know the answer to this, but if you do I'd love to see your solution.

The forum admins, particularly Nach, would be the people to talk to about making the forum more smartphone-friendly. It's entirely possible that there's a phpBB module for mobile phones that could be enabled, which would at least be a good start.
