I can believe it! 2a has some pretty tight energy constraints, plus those barriers to shoot down. 3 in contrast should largely just be a matter of being in the right place at the right time. Infinite flying would be so handy for playing that stage normally... Are you planning to abuse death at any point? The penalties for dying are pretty minimal, after all.

Which is not to say that its plot makes a lick of sense...

Glad to hear it hasn't been forgotten. Good luck with the TAS!

So that's why I remembered there being one of those sphinx enemies in 1-1! Confused the heck out of me when I saw the normal run, because an enemy I distinctly remembered just wasn't there. Run looked quite nice; good work!

He didn't necro; you did (and then TASVA showed up a week later). Anyway, necromancy isn't a bad thing here, so long as you're actually posting something of substance.

KLMZ didn't name his character AAIIMMX; that's just the order in which the characters are input. They aren't always input at the end of the name, though, so the result is still MAXIM. :)

Is Hyper Bomb really the best weapon to use to defeat the second boss there? It has a really long delay between shots; if you had a weapon that fired "normally" (i.e. like most weapons do) and did even half the damage the bomb does, I bet it'd compare favorably. Also, you got a few health pickups from enemies that wasted time. Otherwise, I thought that looked pretty good! It's definitely interesting to see levels with enemies from all three games.

You really need to find some way to automate this. These videos are wonderful and they shouldn't be that hard to make.

I think I'd need to see a level or two of a test run before I could say how interesting it'd be. It's certainly true that the current run bests most of the bosses impressively quickly, but on the other hand, how interesting would it be to draw those fights out longer, even granted more creative summoning use?

These are always a fun watch. Thanks for making it! I especially liked the full-screen falling. :)

The thing about hacks is that they need to do a good job of showing something new, whether that be in mechanics, aesthetics, level design, etc. This is true regardless of the game. It just happens that most hacks that are considered good by players are good because they do basically what the original game did, but in a different way -- which doesn't make for especially novel viewing TAS-wise.

Statistically speaking, yes. That said, if you were female, would you want anyone else to know? Women deal with enough harassment online as it is, even (especially?) from well-meaning geeks, which we have plenty of here.

Thanks for the encode, Flygon! The run looked good, and it's an improvement on a published run. No problems here. Now, who's going to do a swordless second quest? ;)

I'd agree to this only if we keep the emerald hunting in the Knuckles run because I enjoyed watching the bonus stages.
Heh. Fine by me. Weren't the bonus stages for the first Hyper Sonic run taken straight from the Hyper Knuckles run anyway?

The "weapon get" music is Robo's theme from Chrono Trigger. But mon dieu, whoever made this hack has no sense of proper color picking. Metal Man's stage and Quick Man's stage are eye-searing! And from what I've seen (watched the first video on YouTube), the level design isn't particularly inspired. It seems to be trying to achieve levels of I Wanna Be The Guy difficulty, but doesn't have IWBTG's creativity. For example, there are jumps in Air Man's stage where you cannot see when the jump begins and when it ends. This is good design? No thanks. The original game only pulled that in the Wily stages, where you could use Bubble Lead to discover when to jump. All told, I don't like this hack. The run itself seems fine, but the game being run is not up to snuff. Voting no. Also, Rolanmen, don't you TAS nothing but Megaman games yourself?

Your decision to use Hard Knuckle in the second stage seems odd to me, since every time you shoot, Megaman stops for a fairly lengthy period of time. Wouldn't a different weapon (Metal Blade or Quick Boomerang, say) work just as well to clear enemies out of the way without requiring you to stop?

Because sometimes it causes undesirable flicker. It happens that in LoZ it was used to fake Z-occlusion, so it's desirable here.

I seem to recall that the last time a Hyper Sonic run was made, someone patched the ROM to not have the fullscreen flash every time Sonic did his hyper boost. Could that be done for one of the encodes, please? EDIT: seriously, Carnival Night Zone should have a seizure warning... EDIT 2: looked good, and I think this makes a good replacement for the existing 100%/"no horizontal underflow" run. Thanks for the encode, Noob Irdoh.

I can actually see where you are going with this. Perhaps we should wait untill a faster paced and more action paced beat' em up TAS like this comes before we consider giving stars to arcade games.
I don't have a problem with giving a star to an arcade TAS so long as it's a movie that newcomers would want to watch. If we get an even better arcade TAS later, we can always move the star.

A hack that removes the low health warning.

you know what would be the best. if encodes of this and all zelda games were made with a hack that removes the low-health warning bleep, like how megaman 1 is encoded with visible magnet beams or whatever.

I've thought about what a Magic Sword TAS would be like, but would it really be that interesting? The levels are all fairly straightforward; just grab a good companion (probably wizard), get whatever accessory it is that increases your attack, and run through the levels as fast as possible. It's a fun game, though, I'll grant that. Edit: I wouldn't mind seeing Alien Vs. Predator.

I'm inclined to agree with Dragonfangs; the run is competent and reasonably interesting, and controlling four players simultaneously is an impressive trick, but it's not zOMGAmazing. That said, I also feel similarly about the various Simpsons games, which I've seen other people rave about. I have to assume it comes down to brainwashing. :p

Not what I was suggesting. I was saying that if your approach is not making any progress, you need to find a new way to tackle things. You should know by now that arguing with Warp about rules is a good way to get absolutely nothing accomplished. ;)

I would say that an inability to recognize when your current approach is not making progress is not a good character trait. And "sane" is relative, for that matter. One of the problems with being crazy is that you can't necessarily tell that your own brain is screwing up...
