Nope, I can open any zipped rom with the Open ROM dialog, but if I do this on "Recent ROM" I receive that error. Load Most Recent Rom on Startup option also give me the same error. About the rom paths; if I type the path manually it works for me, but the folder icon does not change the path here for some reason. edit: I'm using Windows 8, 64 bit by the way.

A really minor bug in version 1.5.0, but one that version 1.4.1 didn’t have, Zipped Snes roms won’t open if you chose them from File->Recent ROM; --------------------------- --------------------------- Exception during loadgame: System.ArgumentException: Caracteres inválidos no caminho. em System.IO.Path.CheckInvalidPathChars(String path, Boolean checkAdditional) em System.IO.Path.GetDirectoryName(String path) em BizHawk.MultiClient.MainForm.LoadRom(String path, Boolean deterministicemulation, Boolean hasmovie) --------------------------- OK --------------------------- Also minor, but would save some trouble for the user is Config->Paths…, the folder to navigate where your files are, it doesn’t actually save the path.

Here: http://tasvideos.org/userfiles/info/8806805396373444 I already pushed the last switch on Stage 6, 880 frames ahead, but this time I have a Speed Boost item, so I expect to save some time still in this area. edit; and it saved, I'm now fighting the bosses of Stage 7, 1135 frames ahead. edit Working on Stage 8, I'm looking for a Gravity Item near the start of this stage. edit: No use, the only random crate is close to the end, worse, guarded by a turret and a wall...

Oh, sorry, I was playing Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons, and for some reason, couldn't stop... but I'm back to work on Metal Warriors again. The text skip and the corrupted sound/music really seems to be related to a memory mess up; stage 3 has no music on the new run. I guess we'll have to wait until it happens to track it down, but as you said, it won't save that much time anyway. In any case, a better boost on Stage 6 put me a little farther ahead, 846 frames ahead up to Ballistic.

Weird, the screenshots of the Media Player Classic are all black on my computer, so I decided to test the same stage as seen in the video; It is ridiculously easy to clip on the walls of a two player game! You’re right about the elevator, but almost all of the diagonal ceilings are easy to clip into just flying toward them. So, there are glitches that will only work on a two player game; others just need more experimentation. I think we already have what’s needed to finish the single player game as fast as possible, would be nice to know how to execute these tricks though; 1 – Ballistic with its infinite damage charge. 2 – Nitro controlling the ship on sage 3. 3 – Skip the text like you did on your 19:24 run.

I'm not at home right now, so I'll bring some screenshots of the ones I think would be useful tomorrow. But for now, around 4:27 on this video, Drache inside a wall, would come in handy on Stage 8...

"La Bola Blanca", I can't make it work either... so, no, it's just a normal charge pausing for a few frames. by the by, there are lots of tricks on their video that seems impossible to reproduce, it would be really nice if we could contact those guys to get more details about them.

Thank you! Stage 4 is still the worst stage to TAS, I guess it's the lack of a defined way to complete it... This time I killed even more enemies, but it's 55 frames faster and I'm now 299 frames ahead. edit: Stage 5 done, the pause trick saved quite some time there, 693 frames ahead now.

Too bad it was just a mistake, it would be nice if we could somehow skip that stage, oh well... anyways, I'm having some fun with them texts, nothing that saved time yet, but I'll keep trying :) a little update on the progress of v2; Stage 1 done, 99 frames saved. edit; stage 3 done, 244 frames ahead.

Thank you, Derakon! The routes are as optimal as possible, but movement can be optimized a little further, I estimate something around 100 frames can be squeezed in the new run.

Um... I only used B and A, but I'll also test other combinations as well, thank you. oh, and around 02:59 on the encode the guy says: "They are destroying the generators" and then repeat the same text at 03:05... the text in this game is really buggy despite the pilot's name. by the by, the name "Stone" is used 10 times during the game, so changing it is a waste of time since it takes 70 frames to change it.

Thank you! It took a little bit longer than I was expecting, but here’s the completed run; http://tasvideos.org/userfiles/info/8430287772486359 I’m already working on v2, trying to glitch the text like you did in your, but changing the pilot’s name to any single character is not giving me the same result, there might be something else. In any case, there are lots of mistakes to fix, unused tricks to try out and a little bit of fooling around to add, so v2 is needed regardless of that specific glitch, would be nice to include it though.

The overflow, maybe yes, but the softlocks you mentioned also happens in my run. In stage 3 I had to wait 20 frames to skip the text and my stage 8 has no music after the boss... In any case, it's worth fiddling around with that overflow thingy, we may find a way to skip something with it, who knows? But I came here to talk about my test on Stage 9; it's pretty easy to clip into those moving platforms, so I'm confident that I can cut some corners in this stage. edit: Sorry to bring more bad news, but you're right about all the places we can zip on stage 9 not being near Prometheus; I think my hopes were too high…

Some of the texts are drastically reduced in your run, for example, at the end of stage 9's first part, the text stops after your pilot's name, but in my run it takes 60 frames for me to be able to skip it after "Stone". The guy says something about an underground base which it's not shown in your run.

Thank you! The run is almost complete, and I guess it will be under 15 minutes! (or so I hope) Here's another mistake to be fixed in the v2 of this run, but too late to fix now: I noticed that you skipped some of the text in your run faster than I did in my run, but it took me a lot of time to realize that you changed your pilot’s name to “K”! (can save ~3 seconds in the long run)

A painful stage indeed, but finally some progress: http://tasvideos.org/userfiles/info/8273137775208706 and here's a "desired" screenshot:

The wip ends near that spot, so I'll try to make it happen, wish me luck... edit: It didn't happen... but the stage went pretty smoothly, and I'm now working on the Final Mission.

Yeah, the rockets can boost the Mech up to 20 (in the wip it's only 10), but I found it slower to wait for more rockets. (I'll make sure to try a better manipulation on the v2 of this run though) edit: a little update, I mean, lack of update :( stage 7 is my new nemesis; it's really easy to make mistakes there, so it will take some time...

Sorry for the delay... I call it checkpoint, but don't know if it's the correct way to call it; sometimes when you stay at the center of the stage, the enemies won't appear, no matter how long you wait. going a few steps to the right or to the left causes them to appear again, so there may be some kind of checkpoint system on this stage. anyway, I gave up the stage 4 for now, I'm already working on stage 6. but I must redo some previous stages, I found a more optimized way to control the pilot around. edit: http://tasvideos.org/userfiles/info/7945970220117717

Yeah, that happen with the first enemy on my new try, but... although I can kill the first ten or so enemies faster than my first try, I'm still killing more than 24 enemies, thus finishng the stage at, and I'm not kidding nor lying, the same time :( I was so excited with the new strategy that I was not taking into account the time needed to exit/enter the Mech...

You already gave me a faster solution for Stage 4 some time ago;

Since going up didn't work I thought it wouldn't help, I was wrong! With the new discoveries of checkpoints and the need to kill just 24 enemies, and since the pilot can reach them 2 or 3 times faster than the Mech, this strategy is working like a charm! New Stage 4 soon...

Yes, it is there, but one thing I tryed without success is passing through the green barrier, it would save a huge amount of time... edit; More notes about what’s needed to complete stage 4; - 24 enemies must be killed to finish the stage Some enemies will flee when shot, hence my pseudo 20 kills - There are checkpoints you must reach to spawn them No matter how long you wait in one spot, they won’t spawn - If you spawn more than 24 enemies you must kill them too That’s why I’ve killed 27 in my last wip to finish the stage Talking about mistakes, these are the real shared addresses;
HP  : from 0X00422/0X004A2 to 0X00D22/0X00DA2
Hpos: from 0X0040C/0X0048C to 0X00D0C/0X00D8C
Vpos: from 0X0040E/0X0048E to 0X00D0E/0X00D8E
Hspd: from 0x0041A/0x0049A to 0x00D1A/0x00D9A
Vspd: from 0x00418/0x00498 to 0x00D18/0x00D98
Hspd/Vspd (horizontal/vertical speed) working with all enemies now. It's on my new Lua script, but it's ugly, lots of "gui.text()"... anyways, still no new Stage 4, sorry about it, I'm working on other stages before Stage 4 pisses me off, I'll try it again after that.

Thank you, I'll test it too at home. about the stage 5; The auto cannon below the bridge open the path to me; it shoots on the bridge and on the thin ice. I have to backtrack a little, but surprisingly, there are no enemies on my way. edit: I was wrong about switching to Havoc; it is possible to reach the boss and kill it with Ballistic!!! I’m still working on stage 4, so it’s not optimized, but it’s roughly 1000 frames faster than Nitro; http://tasvideos.org/userfiles/info/7673380551225240 and about Pasky13's script; It works pretty well, but if you ever have interest in working on it again; - A feature that I’d like to see in your script; a pilot's speedometer display. Unlike the mech’s speed address, the pilot’s address changes all the time, so it’s hard to keep searching for memory addresses every time I need to get out of the mech to press a switch or finish a stage that requires the pilot alone.

Hey, that was fast! Thanks a lot, Pasky13. I'm still fiddling with stage 4, but I'm also testing stage 5 with Ballista, I can reach the "boss" a lot faster with it, but I need to switch to Havoc to finish the stage.

Well, I do :) My programming skills can be divided by zero thus I think everything related to porting things is complicated, so, if it's too much trouble for you, don't worry, I can restart the run on Snes9x 1.51 no problem.

I implemented one of your suggestions on stage 3; pick up rockets on the "port", it is 70 frames faster. I also did stage 4, but even TASing it for hours, this stage still looks not optimized. Some possible reasons; 1 - It’s not possible to kill enemies that spawned so many pixels off screen; I need to scroll the screen towards them. 2 – Killing a group of enemies on the right side of the screen will make the next one spawn on the left side. It can’t be manipulated, or at least, I don’t know how. 3 – Flying with the pilot really makes them spawn faster, but they take the same time to come down into mech’s range. 4 – Some enemies stuck on the right side of the ship that can’t be reached by the mech; they can be killed, but it would take a very long time, longer than waiting for other enemies to take their memory addresses. 5 – I’m lazy and I like to make my stages in one shot; redoing is for losers. Um, well never mind the 5th reason… Anyways, here’s the wip with the fix on stage 3 and my first attempt on stage 4; http://tasvideos.org/userfiles/info/7633036150544456
