I have some memory addresses in this Lua script; http://tasvideos.org/userfiles/info/2815437733265150 But for the trick to work, you must slide for at least one frame in some stages. edit: the game seems to store this information, but I don't have that address yet.

Yes, there is, but the 120 star run of Super Mario 64 was not letting me work anymore :) http://tasvideos.org/userfiles/info/2813229867929931 There's a new trick; duck under water. And something that I think will force a redo or at least, it's a possible improvement; You don't need to roll before the jump-and-roll trick, slide for a few frames is enough.

Beautiful, the highlight for me is definitely Bob Omb Battlefield, especially the collection of those red coins! Also, for the thumbnail, alec kermit's second screenshot, or something around it. Seeing Mario with that Koopa shell is hilarious :) Thanks again guys for such a good run!

You're more than right, thank you! When I improved the beginning of the second stage, I avoided that first roll as it is slower than just run. I redid the second stage, I need to collect 2 Rubies to transform Congo into Super Congo on stage 3, by the by, stage 3 is a lot, and I mean A LOT faster with the hover trick mentioned by Omnigamer. I'm now fighting the first boss and I'll post a new wip as soon as I beat his ass :) edit: about those Warps, this is what the manual says, it's in the previous link; The Slot Machine: Three Crowns = Warp into another stage - a Lucky Zone! Well, or I don't know what that means or I'm completely out of luck with that slot machine... Every chance I have to spin the slot machine I try for about 100 frames and the only thing I win is extra lives :( Is there another way to warp to other stages or I'll have to be extremely lucky on the slot machine? Well, as you can see I know very little about this game, so for now it will be a "warpless" run, but if you know how to warp, and if it will make the run more entertaining, please let me know. last edit: searching for "Congo's Caper Warps" on Google led me to this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Q_0K0afY7A The guy uses a warp to pass one of the water stages, so, looks like the slot machine can't warp me to other stages after all... In any case, I never played this game before, so if you know something that can improve this run, even if that means restarting the run, don't hesitate to tell me, thanks in advance. last edit, for real this time; just to make sure I understood this warp thing; the warps are "NEXT" signs hidden on some stages and all I have to do is look for them, right? Well, that seems to make more sense :)

That's a nice coincidence, indeed! I'm just at the beginning, so any info, memory address or even a walkthrough would help me alot. edit: why do I need a walkthrough? well, ZENEO9 said that there are warps in this game, but I don't know where they are... edit2; found this; http://www.gamesurge.com/playstation/strategy/psx_man/Congos_caper.shtml

Eye Of The Beholder drew my attention to this game, and I have to thank him, the game is delicious to work with. The roll trick as demonstrated by DLH112 is really fast, but the sliding needed to start it is too much slow. I accidentally started a roll after a jump on stage 2, it's a lot faster than sliding, but I can't reproduce it anywhere else. Even worse, I improved the beginning of stage 2, but then I can't do the roll-after-jump-trick again :( Here's my first attempt with the jump and roll trick: http://tasvideos.org/userfiles/info/2722430814483834

I was thinking to do Super Back to the Future, as suggested by goldfish, but there's too much lag in that game and I lost my interest :( There's a lot of new tricks at the Congo's Caper thread, I'm downloading all of them now and will take a look tonight, thanks for the suggestion :)

I know nothing of programming, but some time ago I connected a NES controller on a SNES (with some cutting and soldering), and it worked. Is it possible to adapt what already exists to verify NES games to work on SNES games too? It may be too bizarre, sorry to bother you guys.

Ah, Desert Bus... do you believe that I watched that run throughout? Just kidding, I just hope they don't accept it now...

The run is done, the conveyor belt took some of the improvements alway, but it's still faster.

Thank you, all of you, but the "buffer trick" (that I regretably forgot all about...) can save time even in the first stage! I guesstimate the savings to be about 300 frames in the long run. Unfortunately, it's impossible to edit this game without causing a massive desync, so I'm working on an improved version and setting this one as delayed until then, sorry.

Gosh, I completely forgot this trick! I'll do some testing tonight and see if it is possible to edit the run, thanks for reminding me.

I also do not understand why, but in the 16-bit era it was common for enemies to explode to show that they were dead or blink to show that they were receiving damage.

Thank you, guys! The movie is done and submitted. I was afraid it wouldn't be possible due to the error I was receiving with the wips, so there's no submission text yet, sorry. edit; fixed!

Do not worry, I'm brute-forcing my way through the game; run right/left for "justice" is not that complicated :) anyway, I'm trying to upload the 1st wip but I'm receiving this error message;
Errors found in upload:
<<< Can't parse movie (error from format parser) >>>
Errors from the movie parser:

error_handler:
	errstr=Division by zero
	errfile=/home/tasvideos/public_html/formats/bkm.php
	errline=75
edit; It's on MediaFire if you wanna take a look; http://www.mediafire.com/file/b4w7qz45b1lzdo5/Dooty-Timecop.zip edit2; New wip; Gangsta Paradise on foot with only one frame of lag! http://www.mediafire.com/file/8ib9i2lxx4km7c4/Dooty-Timecop.zip I still can't upload wips on my storage, I hope I can submit the final run...

Nice, thanks! Lag is really a serious problem in this game, and avoid or minimize it will be the hardest part of this run. I did some "improvements" on the script; it now have a table to hold the player's states. He also have a hitbox now, but I couldn't find the addresses for the enemies, looks like it's 1 byte signed but I'm not sure. It's really simple as I don't know Lua, I'm doing it reading other scripts, please take a look; http://tasvideos.org/userfiles/info/2256711388207910

Yes, I'm finally getting along with BizHawk :) Here's a script I did with some of Omnigamer's addresses, but I still need some more, see the "todo"; http://tasvideos.org/userfiles/info/2235851729942125 edit: I forgot we can put scripts on the storage... anyway, the game is really enjoyable to TAS, but I'll need all the help I can get. edit2: @ Omnigamer; I completely forgot to say thank you, sorry man. but I never used RNGs before and I confess I do not know how to use them... but if you can help me with the Lua script I will be very grateful.

Hi, Omnigamer, just watched your Speedrun. I'm still working, but my boss is not around so I have some time to use his computer :) But let's get down to business; I'm currently without projects and I'm playing some first person shooter games with my nephews, but I suck big time playing in real time. So, before I get my ass kicked again by one of my ten year old nephews, I think it's better to do another TAS :) In short, I'll get all the info you gave us and put it to good use on a run of this game, unless someone else is already working on it, of course.

I did not know that it is possible to pause Atari games, interesting. anyways, we spend much of our time looking for flaws in the games we TAS, of course there are glitches and "glitches", but generally I enjoy this kind of run, so my vote is Yes.

I didn't solve it yet, but seems to be the same problem on both games, platforms and enemies are not duplicating or stretching, they're changing position for one frame; the ice platforms to the right and the enemies to the left. I have no plans on doing any Atari runs, but I'd love to be prepared to watch them when someone do. I hope the encoders are not upset with what I said about preferring to watch movies on the emulator; I do not have internet connection at home, so the only way for me to watch movies is download the file for the emulator in my work and taking it home to watch later. So, if someone can confirm for me that these games are running without no errors in the graphics I would be very grateful.

I was about to complain (sorry but one of our duties as true TASers is complain...), when I saw your post about your tests, so I'm clueless; I don't know what's wrong here, some of my favourite Atari games have strange graphic glitches; the ice platforms on Frostbite are stretching and Megamania have duplicated enemies :(
