I'm picking up the improvement again, but I want to use the new emulator, lsnes, this time. ( http://www.elisanet.fi/ilari_l/lsnes-rr1-delta5epsilon2.7z ) I did a quick test and the results are pretty good; there's a lot less lag on the new emulator, but the sound seems a little worse than Snes9x. So, depending on the gains with lag reduction vs sound problems, it may be better to stick with Snes9x, anyway, we'll see.

Never mind, the run sync up to a certain point with v1.1, so I think there's nothing too different between the two versions. anyway, thank you for your efforts with the new emulator, I'm about to start a DKC2 improvement using it. (as soon as I find out how to configure all the new features of course...)

Thank you all guys for the kind comments. About the screenshot, stage Five and most specifically the Desert Worm almost made me give up the improvement, so I think this screenshot is a summary of all the trouble I went through to finish the run, I hope you enjoy.

Very good run, just one concern; any particular reason to use the (U) (v1.0) rom instead of (U) (v1.1) [!]?

Comicalflop is more than right about that, I thought the any% was good, -and it is-, but... then I saw the 100% wips and I have a humble request: any chance of a partnership between zvsp and Nahoc doing the 100% run?

Some of your solutions are at least unexpected. I enjoyed every bit so far, so please keep working! by the by, my game pack is also Japanese, I had to break the back of the cartridge to make it fit on my Brazilian console though.

It was not possible to avoid any lag in the second stage, so I went with a more agressive approach, here's the second wip, 322 frames ahead now: http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1331685722/Dooty-Sparkster.smv edit: I'm fighting the Giant Caterpillar now, the lag here is kinda high so I think it might be possible to reduce some. edit2: the fight with the Caterpillar still lags a lot, but now it's a little faster. I'm in the middle of the submarine stage, but one of the steel snakes are moving sooner than it moves on the current run. I tried to delay the frame I enter the stage but it didn't work, I'm now trying to find a way to avoid or kill it, but looks like it will be the first slower stage of the new run :( edit3: that was close... some sections are indeed slower, but overall the stage will be faster. I'm fighting the Colonel Wolfheim, 497 frames ahead so far. edit4: I'm inside the pyramid, 527 frames ahead now. I don't know why I'm editing this so many times, looks like nobody is reading... well, never mind, I'll keep editing it anyway! edit5: I think I know, it may be the lack of new wips! If that's the case here it is: http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1779065362/Dooty-Sparkster.smv edit6: two days trying to manipulate the Desert Worm and I only managed to get frustrated... I'll leave this game alone for a moment otherwise I'll abandon it. edit7: finally managed to manipulate it, I'm now doing the "shmup" stage, ~600 frames ahead. edit8: I'm doing the boxing fight and I've managed to punch four times per round, but it's not enough to finish the fight in three rounds, so I'm still experimenting. edit9: wow, finally! the fight is finished in three rounds now, I'm doing the Stage 8, ~700 frames ahead. edit10: I'm "fighting" the Crystal Reactor, ~800 frames ahead now. edit11: the run's done and submitted, 889 frames faster.

Yes, you're right, I think I was a little emotional trying to defend the site when it was not even being attacked... I'm feeling stupid now, sorry.

Why? I don't understand.
If the site is of no importance to him, nor the rules I do not see why his run should be accepted here. I may have misunderstood what he said, and if so, my apologies. (okay, sorry, I'll keep running away from these kind of topics...)

252 frames saved on the first stage only with lag reduction, I'm using the same techniques found in your run, but sometimes I need to delay a spindash or use it somewhere else.

I also hope so! I'm basically trying to reduce lag, but weird enough, I managed to save some frames moving slower!?! I'm fighting the Golden Knight, 216 frames ahead. I'll post a wip as soon as I finish the fight, right now I'm in a really bad spot for the next hit...

I know that sooner or later someone will get angry with me and will start to beat my movies, but I'm also working on an improvement to the game Sparkster.

Thanks Bablo, I also must thank you for all the tricks used on my run. I did the tests;
Omnigamer wrote:
I'm not sure if it's faster or slower to jump before that second hit
That part is kinda tricky, one frame faster and I lose the chance to take damage on that last enemy, also, it's not possible to zip-jump at the left edge of ledges or on some platforms.
Omnigamer wrote:
For both of the flying mini-games I think you can position yourself lower
Hey, you just found out why I'm ten/nine frames faster than the previous run; One pixel lower and I would take damage ten/nine frames later, weird!
Omnigamer wrote:
the middle path on the Sand River (could be slightly faster)
There's no need to grab any walls on the middle path, but the luck manipulation there is a lot harder than it is on the upper path, so it will depend on how lucky you are.

Thank you for paying that much attention to my run :) but no, it was not, I was trying to collect all items and kill all enemies, but when I couldn't reach one gem I decided to avoid everything after that.

Okay, I'll try to do a comparison chart including the conversations and loading times, but almost all stages are different in a way or another, so I'm not sure how it will work. In the submission text I'm only comparing the stages, from the first possible input, to the ending of the stage.

The only collections that looked suspicious were the ones in Lair of Kharyon (especially just before the boss fight)
They shouldn't have changed the location of that last eel, the stream forced me to use another Comet Flash, but I also started this stage with less magic, so I have to collect more refills than Bablo.

The only places where I couldn't say for sure if the run was as fast as possible were the horizontal sections with scrolling walls
It's not possible to jump while crouched under those walls anymore, but it's still possible to reproduce Bablo's glitch in those stages with a little trick, so, those stages are indeed slower, but as fast as possible in this version.
