thank you antd, but only Exoddus have the quick save option. I'm doing Paramonia, testing if the invisible Elum is faster. edit: Use the invisible Elum here is slightly faster, attract the bees away from him seems faster too.

Um... I remember being transported to a previous area on the PC version of Exoddus too, (with the auto turn cancel glitch) but I can't reproduce the glitch on the PSX version :( Invisible Abe? do you have any .pxm file with this glitch or can you explain how to do it? I'm about to start Paramonia, but first I want to try out all possible ways to skip it.

To do this trick, I need a rock, meat or grenade acquired with the infinite pick-up glitch, but Abe cannot bring items to Mosaic Lines. also, I can't fool the Sligs with this trick, they do not stop firing until Abe is dead.

I can make one of the Sligs walk to the left more than he normally do, but not enough for him to step on the land mine.

I'm working on the bad ending of Abe's Oddysee this time, here's the first wip: http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/555851373/Dooty%27s%20Oddysee%20-%20Bad%20Ending.pxm Unfortunately, skip Paramonia and Scrabania is not possible yet.

The same run submitted twice, the submission text copied twice... can I vote No twice too?

Um... I like the concept/demo idea best. I'll keep "updating" our 102% run then, thank you. edit: the update was abandoned, I'll start the whole run again as soon as I have some free time.

Thank you guys. But there's something bothering me; sometime ago I did a run that has two endings, it uses a kind of in-game cheat to collect all the 72 Bonuses Coins on Pirate Panic then I collect them all again on the stages to reach 102%, defeat K. Rool on the Lost World then on his flying croc. here's the original run: http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/24087158/DKC2_Patchwork_TAS.smv I really want to redo/improve that run, but I'm afraid it would be considered cheating. What you guys think about it?

I'm doing a small update on our 102% run, trying to include some of Umihoshi's tricks. here's what I did so far: http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1572564514/CDN-DKC2-102P.smv sadly some tricks didn't work, like his Kreepy Krow's fight, but the ones that worked saved quite some time. (455 frames faster up to K. Rool Duel) edit: the "webs away" trick from DKC3 also work on DKC2, but there's no "solid" walls in this game, the web must then hit the ceiling and it can't save time most of the time. (actually, it was already used on the bonus room of Toxic Tower, the only place where it can save time.)

Really nice work here, even the boring parts are not so boring anymore. Easy yes vote.

To me the cutscenes are only annoying when I watch the movie on the emulator, as any fast forward attempt gave me a desync. anyway, the run is simply amazing, all the glitches, skips and strategies made this the best Zelda TAS I've seen so far, it's really a Star worth run. Strong Yes Vote from me.

It's short enough to deserve all the Yes votes, but to me it's boring as it can be, so I'm voting NO.

1. Bumping twice on those Knokas seems to disable Kiddy's hit box for a short time, enough to pass through that Buzz, but it's not a tradeoff as it ended up saving time. 2. I did this already in the 105% run as Dixie, but it's easier to do as Kiddy; just jump one frame before the Koindozers should shove you. 3. Climb the last rope as fast as you can, when you reach the top, going left or right will force the camera to follow you. It's possible to do something similar in Ripsaw Rage, reaching the treetop ~3000 frames faster, but then you must wait for the ripsaw to start moving again, so it's useless there.

This game have some of the most beautiful tunes of all the shmups I've played on the SNES. About the run, your lag management was just brilliant, nice fooling around on waiting periods too, so my vote is YES. though I'd love to see the improvements you suggested for my vote to be a STRONG YES

The .smv was sent, but there's just better luck with Krow (kinda), the double jump on Lava Lagoon and also a good luck on Kleever. oh, and thank you for the explanations, it's starting to make more sense.

I mean the LUA script used to identify the sprites, some of them still seems meaningless to me, but translating those descriptions may help in a way or another. edit: here's the script:
function DKC2()
	local scount = 0
	local cx = memory.readwordsigned(0x7E17BA)
	local cy = memory.readwordsigned(0x7E17C0)
	local x = memory.readword(0x7E0A2A)
	local y = memory.readword(0x7E0A2C)
	local spx = memory.readwordsigned(0x7E0A30)
	local spy1 = memory.readwordsigned(0x7E0E06)
	local spy2 = memory.readwordsigned(0x7E0E64)
	local saru = memory.readbyte(0x7E08A4)

	for id = 0, 21 do
 local stat = memory.readword(0x7E0E9E+id*94)
 local sx = memory.readword(0x7E0EA4+id*94)
 local sy = memory.readword(0x7E0EA8+id*94)
 local sspx = memory.readwordsigned(0x7E0EBE+id*94)
 local sspy = memory.readwordsigned(0x7E0EC2+id*94)
 local num = memory.readword(0x7E0ED4+id*94)

 if id < 7 then
 if stat ~= 0 then
 gui.opacity(0.7)
 else
 gui.opacity(0.4)
 end
 gui.text(2, 80+id*8, string.format("%d(%x, %d, %d)", id, num, sspx, sspy))
 end

 gui.opacity(0.7)
 if stat ~= 0 then
 gui.text(sx-cx-4, sy-cy-(id%4)*8, string.format("%d(%x)", id, num))
 scount = scount + 1
 end
	end

	if saru == 0 then
 spy = spy1
	else
 spy = spy2
	end
	gui.text(2, 150+0*8, string.format("speed: %d, %d", spx, spy))
	gui.text(2, 150+1*8, string.format("position: %d, %d", x, y))

	gui.text(254-24, 2, string.format("SPR:%02d", scount))
end

gui.register(DKC2)
edit2: what I could figure out so far is that the warp barrel's ID is 1(0) and that Diddy must be holding that sprite to do the glitch, but sometimes even holding the correct sprite the glitch didn't work :( anyway, I'm still reusing Umihoshi's .smv file and I'm at Glimmer's Galleon 40 frames ahead.

I don't know if I'll be able to start Krow's fight with Dixie, I'm still trying to understand Umihoshi's LUA script, some of it's numbers ara very confusing to me, so my run will reuse Umihoshi's .SMV file as much as I can.

I also want to "translate" the Japanese TAS to use the US Rom. Of course it will not be submitted here as I can't contact Umihoshi, the creator of this TAS to ask his permission, but I'll post the results here for learning and etertainment purposes only. Let's see if I can squeeze some frames out of it while translating.

It's the vehicle used on Demolition Drain-Pipe and Terraway Toboggan.

No, it's still Manky Monkey, 38 minutes.

But somehow, she comes back from the dead! Continue to play the game and you'll see her with Kiddy.

What overall time do you think is achievable?
I estimate the final time saved to be around 30 seconds, but there's some tradeoffs on my run.

I'm halfway through Poisonous Pipeline, so I guess it's better to post the final run instead. anyway, I redid Lightning Look-Out trying to finish the stage as Dixie, but it's slower than use Kiddy on Koindozer Klamber. I'm 1502 frames ahead now and since I'll avoid a switch on Poisonous Pipeline I think using Kiddy there was not so bad after all. edit: the run is completed, 1696 frames faster or 00:28.27 seconds. I'm trying to put it on Microstorage but it's not working here.

Thank you ElectroSpecter, I'm now testing that Creepy Caverns glitch to see if can save time somewhere else.

Hi ElectroSpecter. Not much, some stages are even slower than your run due to speed entertainment tradeoffs. The big time savers so far are that sacrifice on Fire-Ball Frenzy and the Kaos fight, both on Mekanos. edit: um... I'm not so sure anymore if it's worth the trouble to redo a 40 minute + movie to save those few frames... anyway I'm at Fish Food Frenzy 760 frames ahead. edit again: redid the Kreeping Klasps and now I'm 783 frames ahead, but still at Fish Food Frenzy :( edit once again: I'm at Krevice Kreepers now, 853 frames ahead. edit one more time: I'm working on Krack-Shot Kroc, and I'm 1107 frames ahead now. another edit: fighting against Bleak, 1202 frames ahead now, new wip as soon as I finish him. yet another edit: no time saved on Bleak's House, so I guess there's no point to post a new wip now. I'm doing Buzzer Barrage and testing a small trick that might save time here, pressing the opposite direction on the right frame makes you fly backwards. should be on the above edit: by the by, I've found out how to spawn webs at will: one of the webs must hit a wall, then you can spawn as many webs as you want. (it may save time on Donkey Kong Country 2 102% too, I'll test it.) I wanna be a vested editor: the backward flight worked just great, and now I'm at Kong-Fused Cliffs, 1243 frames ahead. Kong-Fusing edit: nothing much new on Kong-Fused Cliffs, just a few frames saved for not stomping on some Kopters. last edit (not yet): I'm doing Floodlit Fish now, but from this point on I don't think there will be any important time saver, maybe in the K. Roolenstein fight, so, I'll see you there. pointless edit: Floodlit Fish done, but I'm kinda frustrated with the result, so I'm redoing... not so useful edit: okay, now this is more like it, Floodlit Fish is 43 frames faster. I'm doing Ropey Rumpus at the moment, 1388 frames ahead now. frustrated (again) edit: Barbos, the most complex boss in the game is a nightmare to manipulate, I guess it will be the only slower boss fight of the new run... whew! edit: almost the first slower boss, but the second phase of the fight was good. I'm testing Kiddy alone on Creepy Caverns now and he is doing great, 1470 frames ahead so far. new glitch edit: at the end of Creepy Caverns Kiddy have to slow down a bit (1462 frames ahead now) to avoid some Boo Barrels, but then a Clasp bumped into him sending him straight through a red Buzz: Lightning edit: Kiddy also did great on Lightning Look-Out, 1507 frames ahead now, but Dixie is the best kong for Koindozer Klamber, so it may be slower.

Sorry to give you such a trouble Dada, it's also my fault as I was following a YouTube video entitled "99 Mudokons Guide", so I thought it was a correct branch for my movie.
