I think that a little help goes a long way... Well, I couldn't understand some of the values, like what they're supposed to do, but here are the "easier" ones; Download Rayman.lua
Language: lua

while true do memory.usememorydomain("Combined WRAM") xpos = memory.read_u16_le(0x2FBE8) ypos = memory.read_u16_le(0x2E5DC) xspd = memory.read_s8(0x2FCBE) yspd = memory.read_s8(0x2FCC0) gui.text(10,130,"X Speed: "..xspd) gui.text(10,142,"Y Speed: "..yspd) gui.text(10,154,"X Posit: "..xpos) gui.text(10,166,"Y Posit: "..ypos) emu.frameadvance();end
But someone more familiar with the game, and with Lua in general, should be able to add them all. Anyone?

We are discussing this issue on the DKC2 thread and it seems that it is also affecting the final time of my run. Mine is 35 minutes long with lots of new time saving tricks, while the published run is only 34 minutes long. (The pulished run was done in Snes9x 1.43, which we know is inaccurate, but the time difference is too big.) creaothceann, Amaraticando and me also have tested the game on bsnes, or higan as it's called now; in all three cores the speed of the fanfare is as we expected, with no speed up at all. (no save state was used during my tests though)

Yep, BSNES is not the culprit. I got higan v094, 32 and 64bit, and all three cores, accuracy, balanced and compatibility play the fanfare at the expected speed. Sadly, I never managed to make Lsnes work correctly here. Or it plays really choppy or it won't run at all. I'm getting this error with Lsnes rr1 delta 18 and DKC2 pal 1.0; Can't reload ROM: Unknown ROM file type edit: I was trying to load it on "lsnesgb-wxwidgets.exe"... my bad. But it's still horribly slow and choppy, so I can't use it to TAS.

I don't know if it can be something on my end, but here's the bonus fanfare; Link to video anyway, I'll try to send this video to BSNES bugtracker. Thank you, all of you, for the support. edit; looks like there's a bug on the bug tracker; http://board.byuu.org/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=458

I'm still a little confused about the timings, but even if I have messed something up during the creation of this run, it wouldn't be a minute slower. So, the problem seems to be BSNES not emulating the game properly, and that's why it'll not be submitted.

Oh, sorry about my lame explanation of why Dixie is the preferred kong, or a lack of... Her guitar solo is way faster than Diddy's boom box. It's so much faster that even a switch back to Diddy on the next stage is still worth it.

1) Taking damage there would be a lot slower; if you enter a boss battle with just one kong you'll be forced to break a DK barrel. Also, Dixie is the preferred character for almost all boss fights, so you'll need to switch to her. 2) Those porcupines tricked me on the 100% run, but not anymore; you can spawn the last ghostly rope before the porcupines! And since rolling through an enemy stops the screen for one frame, it's faster to avoid them. I've asked a question on BizHawk's bug report, and adelikat suggested me to try the Performance mode. I did it and the bonus fanfare plays at a normal speed. Now I'll try it on Snes9x 1.51 and I'll post the results here. edit; On Snes9x 1.51 it's super smooth and the fanfare plays just fine, but the frame skip must be adjusted as follows; Config/ Speed/ Frame Skip/ Detailed Settings.../ Otherwise it'll play too choppy with automatic frame skip. (or too fast with auto frame skip turned off) So, the problem is the BSNES Compatibility mode. But it's kinda late to regret my decision to use the PAL version with BizHawk...

Hmm... interesting, I wish you all the luck with the Snes9x implementation. Use the performance profile? I'll do that! Thank you, adelikat, for the speedy reply. edit; I just tested it, and in Performance mode it plays as expected, wit no speed up whatsoever! Too bad it's not possible to change it to Performance when recording... I'll wait for Snes9Hawk before attempting a run of DKC2 then.

I'm having an issue with the bonuses and credits of Donkey Kong Country 2, PAL version. They are playing too fast with lots of crackles on the sound. Here's a run that reaches the credits; http://tasvideos.org/userfiles/info/18975630746878529 If I play the game on Snes9x, the speed of the bonus fanfare is fine, so I suspect that the credits will be too. So, unless I have understood it incorrectly,

What desync?
It desyncs with a different rom, v1.1. But even that rom has the same speed problem as v1.0, and one less trick, so it's no use to use it.

I don't think it would be so troublesome to adjust the movie to sync. (with (V1.1) [!])
I've tested it with (V1.1) [!], and yes it syncs pretty damn well up to Rattle Battle! (even using the same version it's impossible to sync Rattle Battle if you splice it) Other problematic stages are the Kart ones, like Haunted Hall etc., but the main problem is the team up jump, not possible on v1.1. Also, the sped up "Bonuses Fanfare" hints us that the credits will be too fast as well on (V1.1) [!]. Just out of curiosity; this run's in game time: 0:35 published in game time: 0:34 So, I must have done something wrong, 'cause even my in game time is slower. :( edit; Now, for something even weirder; the fanfare on Snes9x 1.43 with the PAL rom is at a normal speed!

Yeah, it was a real disappointment when I saw the final time and realised it is so much slower than the published run. But the noisy credits screen is too much annoying for me to submit it like that. We, me and Samlaptop, are working on other projects at the moment, but I'll try the NTSC in a not so far away future.

That was kinda challenging! Lots of differences between the PAL and NTSC versions. It was also a fun experience, people helping out here on the forum, giving advice and stuff, thanks everybody. But sadly it won't be submitted. One of the reasons is that it's slower than the published run. And most important, the credits screen is really weird in this version. It rolls too fast and the sound crackles a lot, even when encoded. So, I think there might be something wrong with the game/emulator. anyway, here's the final result; http://tasvideos.org/userfiles/info/18975630746878529

eww... it's an improvement so it'll probably be accepted, but there's no way for me to say it is entertaining so, No. I agree with thatguy, that it should be a run to prove that the emulator now emulates a particular system. It could be bundled with the emulator, as the Lua scripts are? Pretty unlikely we'll see it happening, though.

I can't agree more, the run is a lot cleaner and more badass at the same time. Sadly the Nightcrawler stages are not the highlights of the run for me anymore. Instead, the whole run is a highlight now. Congratulations on the improvement, not only of the run but also of your TASing skills.

The SNES version is indeed a lot better. The sound is better, the graphics are better, the game play is better. Well, suck it Genesis fans! Of course, nothing's perfect, we still have the auto scrollers and waiting periods, but they're not boring enough to be a drawback. So, Yes.

Yes, it was the Glukkon. Here's a WIP that fixes the issue, it's still up to Feeco Executive Office though; http://tasvideos.org/userfiles/info/18648747525899326

English is supposed to be an objective language, but it's amazing how it can be so confusing sometimes. So, if you're not a native speaker, it's hard to know who is being sarcastic and who is trying to teach you something.

Great! Now we know how to call it in Russian; пенопласт Portuguese; Isopor Greek; φελιζόλ and thanks to Eszik, finally in English; Polystyrene anyway, I have a weird feeling that we're kinda off topic with this discussion...

Oh, Google Translate... I know how it feels, as I still have to use it quite a lot. :) Well, I'm sorry if it sounded like I was pointing out a mistake. (it would be stupid, since I myself don't know how to call it, too) In Portuguese, my native language, it's called "Isopor". But I think it's a brand, not the real name of that thing the chickens are eating.

Yeah, too bad it's still not possible to TAS the PC version. Anyway, I tried some crazy things to make the PSX version pass this point, and it seems to be related with the Shrykull Power on door #2. Our next WIP will fix this issue.

Oh, thank you guys. And sorry for all those edits, but I don't like to double post just to say that I'm stuck or something like that. But don't worry, I'm not stuck. :) I'm just a little busy with another project. Also, I'm working on a surprise that I promised for this submission, so it will take just a little longer.

No wonder that there are only rejected submissions of this game... it kinda stinks. Also, no doubt about the effort put into the run, but we have to suffer the consequences of our choices sometimes.
