I'm glad you enjoyed it, but it's just a concept.

I usually don't break my promises... but I'll do it for a good reason, I'm trying to apply this route change to the any%, and then I'll quit. /this change should save more than 6000 frames. //looks like I'll have to keep my promise, I never had such bad luck in a battle. 72 frames trying to manipulate Krow and I finally gave up.

Um..., I guess Metroid is not as laggy as Donkey Kong, but if you're having trouble with lag, you can do this: if the original TAS is >,>,>,B,>,>,>,A, but when you paste it in your TAS you got a lag in frame 3 that is not present in the original TAS, then it must be changed to >,>,>,>,B,>,>,>,A. I solved most of my desync problems this way. and here's a little tip to make a TAS more reusable: unless it saves time, do not press any button while the game is loading, it makes the TAS more readable. ex: at the Press Start screen, use S instead of A,B,A,B,A,B, also to start a new level, avoid the A,B,A,B,A,B if possible. /or is it a reset? if so, we should ask the creator of TAS Movie Editor to include a reset function on his program, or include its functions on Snes9x, like the FCEUX, it would be really helpful for newbies like me.

I promisse, I'll stop messing with someone elses TASes, for good! but, feel free to use my concept if you find something useful on it. This is the last one. @ Marcokarty: The glitch is only useful on the any% run. The bonus levels and the DK coin are located above the point where the glitch can be used.

The 75 coins on Pirate Panic are collected to allow me to enter Animal Antics sooner, wich allows me to fight with the 2nd K. Rool before the 1st one and skip a cut scene. The kong family adds 1% each to your final score and I want to reach full completion, so, I must visit all kong houses, complete all levels and collect all Krem and DK coins. /by the by, collect the 75 coins on Pirate Panic adds nothing to your final score.

The 2nd (1st?) battle with Kaptain K. Rool is no more. <wondering> It uses a kind of cheat to collect the 75 coins, and I know it's against the rules to take advantage of cheats to create a TAS, but, use a warp barrel or a glitch to finish a level faster isn't a kind of cheat? Anyway, it's just a concept, so I guess it's ok... </wondering>

My two runs are almost the same, so this will be my Hybrid run from here on, there's one advantage on my new run though, you can watch the credits, YAY!!!

Hi, to use the floating trick you need three things: enter a safe water, switch the kongs and take damage, you can use it twice on Slime Climbe, but you need to wait for the water to rise, and it wastes a lot of time, so using this trick to reach the bonus won't save time. I'm putting my Hybrid TAS on hold until I finish this test run. a run that shows both endings of Donkey Kong Country 2.

here's some numbers: collect the coins wastes ~2230 frames skip Crank's cut scene saves ~4013 frames = ~1783 frames saved (with reset) = ~790 frames saved (without reset) um... too much trouble for a few frames. The only advantage would be don't use reset and watch both endings on a single run!!! and here's a test to collect the coins on Pirate Panic. and a new Hybrid TAS wip. (maybe the last one) I managed to skip some barrels on Bramble Blast.

The Rambi example was just an... example. sorry, but my English skills are still very limited. the only change I'm refering to is: Arctic Abyss -> Animal Antics. also, no back track is needed to enter Klubbas Kioskes, but the time will be saved on the cut scenes, the long conversation with Cranky will be outside the movie, I know it's a cheap trick, but well... /oh, oh... you are right. using reset is faster, but TAS Movie Editor doesn't work after reset... I'll need some help if I want to test it... //better yet, I'll make a version without reset, just for comparison.

Well, it’s not so many frames, but thanks for your enthusiasm Marcos… Another example of route change that gave a good result: Rambi Rumble. Anyone would have used Rambi, but Comicalflop saved time by not using it. But remember, I’m not a TASer, the only way for me to test this route will be reusing Comicalflop’s TASes, so if it work it's all thanks to his efforts as a TASer.

No, you can't skip the later stages, as I said, you MUST complete all stages to achieve 102%, only the route would be different. it kinda break the game sequence, defeat the second version of K. Rool before the first one... but you still have to play the entire game. I can't tell for sure how much time it can save, but I guess 2000~2500 frames can be saved with this route change.

I guess it's so silly that no one wanted to try it before, but when I finish my Hybrid TAS I'll try this out, just for the heck of it!

Maybe, but you must collect them again while playing, so I guess it's not a cheat, but a shortcut. by the by, the link is not working here either, so I can't post another one... try again later.

No way! You must complete and collect the coin on all bonus stages to achieve 102%. But… collecting all 75 coins on Pirate Panic can save a lot of time! This would be a new route for the 102%: Collect all 75 coins on Pirate Panic. Enter Klubbas Kioskes as soon as they’re available on the map. Complete Arctic Abyss but proceed to Animal Antics. Defeat K. Rool on Krocodile Kore. Not sure if a restart is faster, but it’s not necessary. (but, by not restarting, you can skip the Rare logo) Make your way to K. Rool Duel, defeat him again and voila, 102%!

Lost 54 frames on Krockhead Klamber, but Slime Climbe gave me a little speed boost. and here it is, 1411 frames ahead after Slime Climbe. The next stage is my favorite, don't wait for anything to be completed soon here, I like Bramble Blast that much! @ IMPblackbelt: yes, it's 1% for each kong member. hey, wait a minute! your question gave me another crazy idea. what about just find the bonus but not collect the coin? like in DKC1? I know we need them to pay Klubba, but we can grab them all in Pirate Panic.

Hi Marcos, thank you. I'm changing my goal, to improve the 102% I must use the same difficulty level. So, my main objective now is to just implement the any% tricks on the 102%. Krockhead Klamber, Klobber Karnage and Castle Crush can't be improved, but I promisse to do my best to not lose so many frames on those stages.

I need Dixie to reach the first bonus, so it's no use to sacrifice her here, and enter the stage twice to collect the DK coin wastes too much frames. um... I can't test it right now, (and it may be slower) but this might work: team up/dismount over the first bees and team up/throw over the last ones.

A new wip, before Krockhead Klamber 1120 frames ahead. I'm going to lose some frames here... let's minimize the loss, shall we?

Thank you Antoids for the encodes.

(double jump trick) Need some research, but I guess it's only useful for entertainment. I was using it on my playaround to collect some of the KONG letters.

Also, I redid Jungle Jinx's bonus and saved 42 more frames.
Wow, and I mean it! I implemented your previous method, here 852 frames ahead before Kleever. by the way, I'm thinking to restart the run on "normal mode", ComicalFlop is right, Castle Crush can ruin the improvements. edit: Your Jungle Jinx bonus gave me another idea: No matter what, a bonus always synchronizes, why not TAS just the bonus stages, to create something like TAS plugins? (ok, it's stupid...)

Thanks for the tips. here's the double jump in use to reach a bonus barrel. Jump below a small enemy, like a croc tail or Neek's nose then put v+B. it worked in Castle Crush too, but there's a barrel that prevents Squawlks to go down where I want him... and to jump higher just crouch longer. /-error around frame 44265: um... thats why I wasn't able to get out of the water. thanks. //-Warp: one long roll: I reached Krow's Nest with the warp changes, but Krow is throwing useless eggs like crazy! It's better to leave the first world as is, sorry.

Co-author a TAS with you guys would be a dream come true! but... let's face the facts: Manipulate subpixels and luck is beyond my knowledge. I can only watch memory to find cheats, not character speed. In short, I am not a TASer yet, so I can't be a good partner. But I'm testing and applying the improvements you pointed right now, and will post a new wip as soon as I finish, thanks. results of the tests: -Pirate Panic barrel: Can't find the reason, but I'm 10 frames ahead on the first croc using the barrel, but 10 frames behind on the first bonus!(???) -Warp: one long roll: You're right! I was losing some frames on Kannon's Klain warp, so, I decided to left it the way it is. (I'll do it your way) -Topsail Trouble goal switch: No way! Dixie can slow you down more than a normal switch does. -Jungle Jinx bonus: I can't dismount in mid air, I must land on the ground first, or after press B for two frames. (is there any other way???) -Lost time in lava lagoon: In Red-Hot Ride I need Dixie to be the "playable" kong, and switch characters inside water in my tests is faster, so it's a kind of trade.

I tried to explain my project already, even on my own language, but failed... anyway, it's something like this: copy + paste + adjust + modify + TAS = this. /by the by, I'm still using snes9x 1.43 and TAS Movie Editor, and no, I don't know how to hex edit or watch memory yet :(

Best TAS ever? It would be great! But that's not going to happen. It's just a concept, I'm not going to submit it. I'm just showing my passion for this game, and my respect for the creator of the TAS, his hard work don't need to be wasted when tricks are discovered. I will also make sure to save as much time as I can, so, the progress will be a little slower on this one, but you can wait for a wip in a week or two. That being said, let's get back to work!
