I'm curious to know if anyone's actually played through the entire thing. I only tried it for a couple minutes, but it seems to be a crippled version of Earthbound. Earthbound is done already... so is there anything that would make a TAS of Mother more or equally interesting compared to one of EB? Not that I wouldn't watch if someone did do a TAS, but it seems like there are more worthy projects out there. Edit: and that's an honest question, not intended as flame-bait.

Not to mention gender. Cute, though.

Tactics Ogre, done by a million monkeys at a million computers until they TAS the world's fastest speedrun. It would be cool, not to mention saving this monkey a lot of time and effort...

That was cool, and about the right length so that the novelty doesn't wear off. It was definitely worthwhile, even though getting the movie took longer than watching it. Yes vote is pending, assuming Xkeeper can explain the point zefiris raised.

Bugs bunny is spinning in his grave... with Taz? An awful game on so many levels, but not a bad run. You might get some 'meh' votes if you submitted a polished run because of the horrible chunky scrolling, but I assume response would be favorable overall because of the brokenness.

Ahh... That's a shame. Gau appears! > Cyan uses retort > Imp/kill Cyan > Revive Cyan, stop Gau > Hit Cyan. > Cyan slashes Gau to ribbons. The kid's not getting back up this time. 44 GP!

Interesting... um... was it made by professionals? I'm on 56k, so I don't want to waste bandwidth to see high school students reading wikipedia or something.

I'm still hoping that FF6j (SNES) turns up some rediculous glitch. Being able to put the Moogle Charm on anyone is such a big help! Unfortunately I have no idea how to get one besides the only one. Not even the sketch glitch can give you one and that glitch doesn't work anyway. There are a few places in the game where, if I could walk through walls, I could travel between the WOB and the WOR. I'm trying to find more NPCs that I can pass through. (Sneaking into Umaro's cave is one of those points. I wish: sneak in, exit into WOR Narshe, pickup Mog and the MC.)
The desert fills with clocks and locke somehow produces an atma weapon, but it takes something really bizarre to make Edgar freak out... something like... fire 1. Heh... I've been messing with the equip anything glitch. Nothing particularly good happened. But I'm wondering, what happens if you do a desperation attack while holding two hi-potions, or maybe Soft? I don't know the address to watch.

I like the idea of TASing SF/MK games as a sort of "sports entertainment". Sort of like what was done in Vandal's MK2 submission where he fought himself. It's fake, like wrestling, but there's a suspension of disbelief that makes it entertaining. I've seen AKA's video, and I think it should play out more... theatrically, unrealistically. Have dragon punches collide, and things you'd almost never see in actual play, but can happen in a TAS. Lastly, what's the point of using turbo? Couldn't we just watch TNC at 150% speed for the same effect?

The file is about 4x too big to use as an avatar here, and the dimensions are also too big both ways. Optimizing and shrinking it down might bring it under the 75kb limit, or whatever it was. He can really bust a move for an old guy, though.

Celes (Kutan) should be using a Flame Shld. If you don't have any Flame Shlds then you might be using v1.1. I tested watching the movie without save states in snes9x v9 and the Sketch Glitch did record and playback correctly for me.
Ah. Of course. Wrong version. My bad.
In a 100% run I might want to use all of the tricks once just to show them off. I'm thinking of 777 on the IAF, but not Ultros4 or the Air Force, and never anywhere else for the rest of the game. All of the bosses should be fought honorably, at least. I could try different strategies where they won't slow me down too much. That way Offering+Fixed Dice, Quick+Meteor, and series of desperation moves don't get worn out. (Or, different from the 100% run, if everyone really really hates Setzer now, I could do the Airship Glitch and turn Setzer in Kurin! Everyone except Terra, Locke, and Mog are skippable. You will have to take Kutan, Kumama, and Kirin in the WOR. You don't need Setzer for 100%.)
Setzer is still cool... misplaced moogles are cooler, though.

Eh... has anyone else been able to watch the completed movie from start to finish, without savestates? I keep getting the same desync near the end of the FC. Celes uses a warp stone, Relm smacks the Naughty, Sabin does a blitz, everybody dies.

I would have intrest in a 100% run, but how long do you think it would take? Would it even get accepted here? Also I do not suppose a "clean" run considers Joker-doom, a dirty glitch does it? Just as that would, in theory at least, make me further want to watch it.
Second that... at face value, it would seem very interesting as to how you'd handle using a group of weaklings (one equipped with the cursed shield, to boot) fighting the 8 dragons without joker-doom. In practice, it might suck. :( I think it would be good, though. Some people can watch eight hours of football on thanksgiving. This 100% run would have to be as interesting as that, at least.

Japanese, yes. I think the only differences between that and the English version are the job names on the right-hand side of the left-hand window. "machinist" "treasure hunter"and "magic knight", I guess. Equipment, status, items and all that are the same. The names are gibberish, though. "Who is Tetareremu, and what have you done with Terra?!" edit: You loaded an English savestate in a Japanese ROM? T-E-R-R-A would seem to bear the same hex numbers as te-ta-re-re-mu...

Awesome. I might as well watch the whole thing again, since I'll be standing on my head anyway... What's the "collector's edition" about? I checked the link but it told me to enable cookies.

Note: In all likelyhood it's probably really easy. It's just that I suck.
I had a pretty hard time of it... which is not to suggest that I don't suck at SoR, but it would definitely be an accomplishment if somebody did it without tool assist.

Zomg. FFT on SDA. Just as a bit of an update, I've been playing around with ZSNES and Geiger's debugger Snes9x a little bit this week. I looked into the address of the first inquisition question to try and get a sense of how the game uses it later on, for NPC elements and whatnot. Still haven't done a proper disassembly, but saturday is right around the corner...

It says that the used to suck but are much better now.
I agree, that is more than likely the case. Still, you have to respect someone (like Nitsuja, I'm thinking) who never seems to make a mistake.

Hmm... well, my logic is that rejected submissions should figure into the final number. If someone has ten published movies, but fifty that suck, I think that's saying something.

Shouldn't the best author be determined using the semi-arbitrary confidence formula? Using all the votes for an author's combined submissions, naturally.

I don't know why, but my favorite part of the movie this time around was Shang Tsung waving his elbow in the air. An animated gif of that to represent this run would be killer.

I have one concern about this movie: does the whirlwind trick (from Zelda II) work/save time? I noticed you can turn in midair, so I tested it a bit but the results were inconclusive. (Because I don't have time to test it properly. :p)
