Actually you never need to upgrade after that. They're always just as good as they'll ever be, especially if you're in a hurry.
That's a shame. With all the tricks and secrets in this game, a run that indulges in showing the game off a little might be acceptable... or at least worthwhile to create for it's own sake. But, as I said, I lack the cojones to take this on myself, so I wouldn't expect anyone else to, either.

Hmmm, isn't this like the predecessor of FFT? Interesting, but wouldn't TASing this game may be boring since waiting for turns tend to slow the pace a lot. It plenty and fun to play by yourself and all, but for the viewer, I'm not sure if it works better than the standard action/adventure genres. Conceptually-wise, you could look for some ideas in the FFTA thread... they should share similar ideas.
Yeah, you'd definitely have to be a fan of the game in order to get much out of the movie. I was really hoping the FFT project would take off, but so far, it doesn't look like there's any interest. I suspect the reason for that is because FFT is a GBA game, as opposed to the more accessible (and easier to emulate) SNES. Ogre Battle, apparently, is simply too massive... which could probably be said of this game as well. Heh. There was a thread about it a while back.

Hilarious. The "Zan dance" would make a nifty avatar. I liked the finisher, too. A little flourish never hurt anybody. (Except Yamato.)

Or, for the lexically challenged using the search feature, "tactics orge" and "tactics oger" I've been thinking of this game recently... and while I don't have the time to play it, much less run it, I'd like to open a discussion. It would seem an interesting game from a TAS point of view, considering all the variables and options that are possible. Right from the start, an informed player can customize the player-character to be an ideal fighter or wizard, etc. ...Either that, or the player's decisions are all irrelevant and there's only one useful unit class, and the same attack will be spammed relentlessly throughout the entire run. I've got my fingers crossed for the former. Useful resources: http://www.luct.tacticsogre.com/ http://www.gamefaqs.com/console/snes/game/588770.htm The game is Japanese only, and there seem to be similar games in progress for the GBA that are not Japanese, so this probably won't take off... but I still wanted to at least put the idea forward.

he electric conveyor belt part looks more impressive than it is. The hit box for the electric beams are way bigger than they appear, but it's pretty ambiguous where Raphael is at any given time, so I look like I'm dodging like a champ when it's really pretty simple.
Ha ha ha. Awesome, man. Awesome. Keep it up.

It seems as though snes9x actually emulates this one. Look what those punks did to my car! The problem with most racing games is that the player gets into first place, and never has to leave. I think that won't be a problem with this game, as it was more than likely programmed by satan himself. (I.E., the difficulty is evil enough to merit a run.)

I agree with AngerFist... though I have to wonder, if someone actually did a 100% run and an all-medallions run, what are the odds that either run would be rejected on the basis of already having a completed run? It's OoT; the demand will be huge regardless.

Speaking of the TMNT2 movie... are we to understand that there'll be no moonwalking through the edges of the screen in this game? Surely someone has thought to try reproducing that glitch in this game by now?

Within 20 seconds of starting this movie, it's obviously nothing most of us haven't already seen. Someone else can tell you about missed shots, but I didn't like this because it's simply unimaginative, and doesn't do anything that most people couldn't do at 50% speed. Wiggling back and forth isn't any more interesting than just sitting there... there was a discussion about this in another thread about one of the Gradius games or a submission thereof. Point is: irrational movement is (at best) unsatisfying to watch for ten or twenty minutes. I think the latest idea is to spell out words using the ship/options. Some style of cursive handwriting, I would assume. Also, annihilating all those red vine things around 7500 might merit a submission... might be impossible, but that's the sort of insanity that makes a game like Gradius watchable, IMO. But, hopefully these ramblings help you cook up something fun for next time... I'm really not one to boo at a free show for no reason. ;)

I don't know... can a movie be published for kitsch? I kind of enjoyed it, but other than the save/load trick, it was on an ironic level. Voting yes, but I think "boring movie" should be included in the description so people know what they're getting into. And if it does go that way, the screenshot should probably be "YOU GET A MEDICINE!" around frame 21300. Extra points for Engrish, you know.

I watched the WIPs of this one, so it's an easy yes. I had hoped he would overcome the final teams with more panache, but I think any TASer would be hard pressed to outdo Dasrik's performance.

I would concur with the "nerd gene" theory... mainly on the basis that I myself am a teetotaler.

You just know that if a movie is labelled "boring" someone's going to get pissy about it. Why bother?
I can already imagine it. - Takes damage to save time - Aims for fastest time - Uses warps - Boring movie
Ha... Brilliant. I hope somebody implements this.

I'm glad people are taking notice of this. America is turning into [insert favorite fictional dystopian future] more and more every year. Has Bush managed to cheat himself a third term yet?

I must suggest Captain Novolin. Not only it a pain in the ass to play, (requiring luck manipulation to compensate for poor controls and enemy design) the game has an unbelievably stupid premise. Revolution X looks like another bottom-of-the barrel choice for a tas. It features an "Impossible" difficulty that might prove interesting in a run. Both for SNES.

Well, in the odd chance someone ever attemps to do a TAS of this : use zsnes! snes9x ALWAYS crashes at a certain point of the game (happened to me a few years ago, forgot about it, happened again a few weeks ago... so I tried on zsnes and it worked out well)
I think it might be worth waiting for a stable version of Sne9x 1.5. It might emulate the game better/without crashing. It would be nice to see this game get TASed, though I should think that in a game as unique as this, there would be a couple glitches waiting to be found somewhere, though I haven't had any luck with that myself. Edit: Also, I found this Wikipedia article interesting:
The Drakkhen series' most recognizeable feature is its custom overworld engine. First used by the original Amiga version of Drakkhen, it was later used in the PC and SNES ports. The Dragon View version sports basic terrain shading and mountainlike "boundaries" that enclose areas of the continent. The day/night cycle however is no longer present.
Apparently there are some version differences. Exploitable, perhaps?

How do I use the memory RNG values Nitrodon found to manipulate the fights?
That, I've been meaning to figure out. Nitrodon might already know, but if not, it's probably a simple matter of setting watches on the addresses he listed earlier, and learning from observation.

Wouldn't you do all your levelling on the overworld, where you have a bit of control over the randomness? IIRC, that's where all the brains are. Tasty, tasty brains.

I'm not a fan of this game. The last run was hard to sit through... this one was much easier. A pleasant surprise. Yet another yes vote onto the heap.

Huh. I might have guessed about the traffic...
Also, re: "address of spammers"... where do you intend to get those addresses from? More than 99% of all spam is sent with forged addresses; addresses of other spam victims. Distributing them in honeypots isn't doing any good; it only causes the spam victims to get more spam.
That I did not know. The site I linked seemed rather naive. I'm not surprised. Thanks for the speedy and informative reply, Bisqwit.

I like the idea of tripping up spammers by any means possible, but... what do you make of this? http://members.hostedscripts.com/antispam.html Do you think that actually works to any extent? And if so, wouldn't it make more sense to use the addresses of spammers, rather than strings of random letters?
