Anyone wanting to learn a language might check out this site that I help maintain. The bbs has a slew of web links for learning Japanese, and many slews of things for other languages.

I speak English fluently. I can read French fairly reliably, and I know enough Japanese to play through RPGs if I have a dictionary at hand. I can't speak these things, of course. I also know bits and pieces of Esperanto, Tagalog, Mandarin Chinese, and one of the Elvish languages from Lord of the Rings.
And a lot of you seem to speak japanese.
What do you expect? We're nerds.

An all kill run is a piece of cake, methinks. I've found that having to dodge a constant barrage of bullets wastes time, particularly on the bosses. I wouldn't recommend it for a speed run. Up to level 3-ish

Would it be better to stick with 2 characters with the same weapon? Because the first two characters have a magnum instead of a "scattergun".
Bob, the shotgunner, is consistently kicking Billy's ass in my run so far. I'd say use Bob and Cormano, as they will dish out the most damage.

Track 4: This is probably the most entertaining track I've done so far. I majorly harass Grinder and even gain a lapping bonus!
Yeah, that was awesome. Shooting him from behind after knocking him down the hill is a bit like adding injury to insult, isn't it? :D I had a look at your FAQ...
An opponent is close to you over a jump? When you're both about to be airborne (side-by-side), you can lean in their direction to potentially knock them in the wrong direction (or off the entire track!)
Any plans to do that later on?

She's a "ghost sweeper," apparently. Joreishi (as in the title) means "exorcist." I can read Japanese fairly well, but I've never bothered to find out anything about the plot. I don't think anyone's attempted to translate this game. Maybe I'll take a stab at it after I finish the run? (Yeah, right.)

Edit: I started this post and the movie below before anyone else had posted, so I'm apparently echoing a lot of stuff. lol. Kickass. I've been wanting to see a run of this. You should slide instead of walk, megaman style. It's slightly faster (I think). There's also a part in level 1 right before the bulls come where you could have made the screen scroll all the way to the right, and I think that would have saved some time. Other than that, and the stuff you mentioned, there's nothing wrong with the movie... but there's nothing really special about it, either. To illustrate my point, I made a 2 player pacifist run of the first level. Style counts. ;)

2. You seem to make an extra, unnecessary stroke at the end of the ectoplasmic boss battle. It could be necessary and I somehow didn't notice, so if that's true, let me know.
Yeah, I made about 10 of those throughout the game. Easy enough to hex them out. The jumping into walls is a pain. It'll take some frame advance to get the timing exactly right, especially in level 2 and 7. Thanks for watching. :)

First draft -Plays on the hardest difficulty -Takes no damage -Aims for fastest time -Manipulates luck Very easy game, very linear. It was also a lot of fun to run through, which I managed to do in one sitting. Most of the lost time could probably be made up by luck-manipulating the bosses, I think. Then there's level 7, which is altogether terrible. There are two glitches in level 1. First, the zombie that jumps through the window. Hard to see, but it seems to turn into the ice-shard icon. I managed to beat the second glitch to the end of the level this time around. Any comments? Suggestions? Empty praise?

You can view my run up to the first track in Drakonis here: http://detachd9.homestead.com/files/video/rrrCHEM.zip
OMG! That was completely insane. Very nice shooting.
Shift+8 function? Is that the "shift from reading to writing" function that supposedly doesn't work? You know, I never really understood why it was always assigned to Shift+8. Maybe it's a Nitsuja thing.
Yeah, that's the one. But I found out that the problem has already been addressed and solved elsewhere, so it's my own fault, really.

edit: Drom, the link you gave for your current run was the exact same run as you posted earlier. The game ends for me at frame 29595 with you jump jetting off the first track in Division A.
Crap. Savefile has screwed me yet again. Just as well, I guess. All the crazy stuff happened after the desync. I restarted and managed to do the first track. I'm going to look into a glitch(?) with the shift+8 function that somehow erased tracks 2 and 3 before I go any further with this run. *grumble* Idea: In one race, lap everybody. It would be quite a feat, if it's actually possible. I'm sure it would require extensive use of pushing everyone into going the wrong way. I also learned today that if you're rolling backward down a hill and someone runs into you, you don't (apparently) take any damage, but they do.

How about just "tool assisted run" (or TAR?) The biker mice from... august? ;) The game is very similar. I guess Interplay sold Konami rights to use the engine or something like that. The physics and contols are much the same, but they jazzed it up quite a bit.

Dromiceius, I really enjoyed watching your demo! It gave me some more ideas. How could I neglect forcing your opposition the wrong way? Your 3rd track was great! I'll force the opposition the wrong way a few times throughout the run. Wait 'til you see what I casually have been doing on NHO! Right before those crazy consecutive jumps over the gaps...
I discovered in my next segment that hills are also very effective for screwing people over. I sent Grinder rolling backwards down the big hill near the ramp in track 3. I guess it's too steep to climb, so he had to go the wrong way. Good luck with the rest of Chem VI. I hope yours doesn't turn out as boring as mine did. I let it drag on a few races too long, I think. As for the jump-jets, I found out that they can be used to leap onto ramps! I would have actually used that in chem/track 3 if I were willing to place 4th for the little stunt. I might actually do that next time as my current run has come to an end, desyncing around frame 94000.

Nice stuff, EscapePlan. I'm not sure what you should do about the armor/engine dilemma. I'd say get the armor, but my priority isn't so much to win races as it is to make other people lose. Armor is good for that because it allows me to hit the breaks when someone is behind me, causing them to stop, and me to go faster. (AKA "the jackass manoeuver") Track 4 would have a nice jump or two if it didn't toss you to 4th place for using them to your advantage. Assuming that fact is consistent through the entire game, I don't think jump jets are worth buying. Inspired by this movie, I started one of my own novelty movie wherein I pick an enemy in the first race, (viper/purple) and then try to ruin his career every race thereafter. "Viper is headed the wrong way!" Heh heh heh.

It's a good run. Though, having seen the entire thing, I'm starting to think Cabal is really boring. I'd definitely vote yes if I weren't a lurker. Good show.

It desync'd for me there, too when I used version 9 instead of 9a... I think. One works, the other doesn't.

I've got one of those name things, too. FF6, during the Opera. Ultros: Mwa ha ha! I'll pretend to be a homo, and foil their little plan. (Guess what I named Setzer!)

I just watched the entire thing, from reset to the end. I thought it might have uploaded badly, so I downloaded it and compared the CRC32 to the one I just watched, and they're the same: 4,204,919,959 I didn't replace the movie, but added a zip, which includes the movie and a savestate from around frame 69000, well past the middle. Hopefully this works. http://savefile.com/files/1571578 Edit: I take way too long to write short posts. Ha.

I DO program. I'm downloading the source as I type this, but whether I can actually help out is about as likely than my two Lancelots beating the current best time... I definitely agree with Phil that a 3 player mame run of this would rule all. Nitsuja: thanks a lot for the advice. Things are going much more smoothly now that I've stopped knocking everyone down all the time. I haven't tried Arthur+Percival yet, but I'm definitely going to see if it's feasable.

best ending? max level? i'll watch it now because i've never seen those things and the current run doesn't achieve that goal, which i think is better. edit: damn it's desyncing for me midway through the game... with various settings it still desyncs. i'm using knights of the round (J)
Yeah, I think I was just barely over the requirement for level 16 when the Desyncs make baby jesus cry. Is there any known way I could fix the movie to not do that? Edit: It occurs to me that since the movie is the same and the rom is the same, maybe our gfx/sound options also need to be the same?

I did it in 33:44, beating the current record by an astonishing negative 15 minutes! http://savefile.com/files/7728269 This is just for fun, obviously. :) I only use Lancelot, for he the most inept knight of the round table. Not only is he weaker than Arthur, but he's actually slower than Percival. I like Lance, though, since he actually needs to block, and hit things more than once in order to kill them. I particularly like watching him go at it with two Tallmen. *snicker* A lot of luck manipulation was needed in level 7 to get to the maximum level at the end of the game. What and if the enemies drop seems to be based on the attack that kills them, as well as the frame number. I don't really understand, but it's not too hard to control. No damage is ever taken, neither by being hit nor by using M-Crush, which I have arbitrarily decided is dishonorable. I managed to get the best ending in about 34 minutes, which is ridiculously slow. I could re-do it a lot faster, obviously, but I find that the second attempt of any movie I do comes out boring and efficient, rather than crazy and full of screw ups. Therefore, for the next attempt, I'm using both players, and a cheat that allows player 1 AND player 2 to be Lancelot: 7E0D5900 The 2-player WIP of levels one and two. The is the first time I've tried controlling two players at once, so there's much room for improvement... about 45 seconds worth in level 2, it seems. The time for level 1 was 3 seconds faster than my single player attempt, however, so it's hard to say if the extra enemies in 2 player mode don't slow things don't overall. Comments? Suggestions? Ideas?

She looks like she's from the south China sea area. Could be a lot of things, but I don't think she's Japanese. Just from the words she's mouthing, I'd guess she's a Filipina... then again, that could just as easily be English. Korean could definitely fit, as well. I'm guessing the file has been passed around a fair bit? Could have been renamed from another character set, or something.

I want to see it, too, or at least the WIP. The link on the last page died. Anyone have it?
