the other thing to note that getting all maximum coins in this run, as mentioned by the authors, is impossible. since maximum coin's goal is to get the maximum amount of coins you can get in a single run, it would be in a different category.
the only way I believe that that max coins could be obsoleted is of one of 3 things:
1. A newer run has the same amount of coins collected but is more optimized
2. is it discovered that more coins can be collected even if it make the overall run time longer than its predecessor (like for most low% categories)
3. if you can get a run that has max coins AND can collect all items as well.
since this movie isnt able to achieve the maximum amount of coins, it wouldnt make sense in my opinion to have this run obsolete max coins, since there's arguably different goals for each tas and because this run cant achieve max coins either.

Man, this version of the game is such a downgrade. You can barely see what's going on in most of the cutscenes because the grey palette makes everything difficult to tell apart.
Only question I have is why do you have to get in and out of the car before you can drive away?

the game pauses every time you get an item, and because it's 100%, the game would frequently pause after every item get's collected. having to watch this for an hour long run can get annoying to watch. I dont think somthing like that would be necessary for this category.

Congrats to Stovent on becoming a publisher. When I first joined here, he has been very helpful with teaching me some basics of TASing, while also teaching me how to Video dump, and eventually how to encode.

I have recently discovered a homebrew genesis port for Fix it Felix Jr.
for those who dont know, this is a game in the Disney movie "Wreck it Ralph", and was a parody of the classical donkey kong arcade game.
I did a short TAS of the first level as I was interested in how this game would work, and it's surprisingly a well made homebrew.

Sometimes when I watch speedruns of my favorite game, speedruns of the game may be using glitches that are too complicated to really understand. Sometimes this ruins the experience in some cases for me personally.
There's also times where I watch glitchless games where they play through the game as intended as possible. This run would be easier to understand if you've played the game before, and shows how fast you can get through the game as possible without using glitches the general public would never know.
In general, do you enjoy watching speedruns with glitches or without glitches?

I have updated the movie to include a few time saves.
some of the more notable changes:
in 3-2 at the end of the level, where I do the ceiling trick before getting to goofy.
in 5-1, I dont take damage at the end, this is so I can skip the first encounter of Pete in the final stage.
during the actual Pete fight, I found out you can throw another block at him before you take damage, this makes the fight faster than before.

I apologize if this has already been discussed, but there might be a small time save in the wario battle. right as wario leaves the screen, you're able to scroll the screen and continue to the next room. the TASes for this game have mario getting up to speed to go to the next room, however I thought about maybe trying to get mario to top speed before the screen can scroll. I made a short demonstration of what that would look like (was done better in the 2nd time trying to do this):

only problem with this is when wario moves off screen, it causes mario to halt, however doing a jump when that happens seems to prevent your speed from changing, that means you most likely would have to be on a higher level when going to the next room.
and the other problem is having to hit the wall in the loading zone, but that maybe could be avoided by jumping after the screen scrolls.
again, not sure if this has been mentioned before so I apologize for not looking into discussion for it.
Edit: should also mention that this same method is used in a different game as well: DecapAttack
(example is at 1:59 if you cant get time stamps)

after every boss battle, the player get's to maximum speed and hits the edge of the screen as soon as the game allows him to continue.

Any% means beating the game as fast as possible with no other limitations. 100% means completing what can be considered 100% of the game's content. If both 100% and any% are the same thing then there's just the any%.
