This was discussed before: http://tasvideos.org/forum/viewtopic.php?p=486697#486697 The problem with flagging this movie is it’s difficult for newcomers to understand what happened when a level ends. And personally I find it really unsatisfying when a level just randomly ends. I would much rather have a movie that doesn’t use that end stage glitch get the flag and the star than this movie. I have already suggested giving the flag to Rockman & Bass as an alternative, I’d like to see more discussion on that.

This might be wrong actually. It’s possible that the ceiling is still there, just that it’s higher up because the GBA height isn’t as tall as SNES. Either way, I did what I could to try and get as high up as possible, but I unfortunately dont know this game well enough on a tasing level to pull it off. If someone wants to experiment they are free to do so.

My only concern for this is what if they use an older version of bizhawk where emulation would be not as good? should it only be allowed for bizhawk versions 2.4 and up? it might be best to only allow it if the author plans on testing it on console or something.

If neither Super Game Boy enhancements nor Game Boy Color's full-color graphics are supported, Game Boy mode should be used.
From what I could figure out, the Pokemon first gen games (at least for Blue and Red) did not support full color modes. They only supported partial color modes. It wasn’t until this movie that Blue and Red would start using GBC mode. So this seems to be in contradiction to the rule.

Since we are going to see alot more GB/C movies get console verified now that Gambette is almost perfect in emulation accuracy, one thing that is in the back of my mind is if normal GB mode should still be used for submissions. Sometimes GB games will have different properties or will lag differently if run on GBC mode in GBA, and movies have to be in that format in order to verify in a GBI, was forcing GB submissions to say in GB mode always a thing with the exception of Pokemon? or would it be allowed to submit GB movies in GBC in GBA modes?

This game isn't working on Gambatte in the dev build? Does it work in GBC mode, or in GBHawk?
for Gambette it wont work at all, both in GB and GBC mode (and GBC in GBA). however in GBHawk it works just fine, both in GB and GBC modes. Edit, in 2.4 it works just fine with both cores.

That does not make it a TAS under the definition of what a TAS is. Tool-Assisted is to imply you use tools efficiently to speedrun a game, the use of a turbo button will assist you in getting a faster time, but it is not efficient enough in getting the fastest speedrun. Tools such as the one in most emulators like frame advance, savestates, ram watch, etc are all used to make an efficient speedrun, where as Turbo does not help you with direction, control, turning. that is somthing you have to do on your own.

Ive been getting the same desync issues that were in 2.3.3 on 2.4, however it only seems to be an issue with laggy GB games. It happened quite often in Zen Intergalactic Ninja. All that was happening was some areas of inputs were not properly green zoned, there would be spots that were lighter in color compared to emulated frames (which are darker).

You need to convince me that: 1) This submission is a speed-oriented movie that beats all existing records 2) This submission isn't too trivial for being considered as an example of superhuman play
The first issue I think needs to be re-looked at for cases like this. I don't have the authority to really say anything on this so I'll leave it up to staff. As for the 2nd part, I will link EZScape's video of him trying to learn and pull off the trick. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9YEC5Qz7CNs If this really was trivial to achieve then it shouldn't take effort to learn and perform this trick consistently. EDIT: I even have tried to pull off the glitch myself and still havent achieved it. I am doing my best to understand how it work, but I believe the effort needed to learn how to do it is enough evidence that this is not trivial at all. EDIT 2: I managed to get it by doing the easier jump method but I have not been able to get it the way the TAS does it, it is incredibly frame perfect to get. EDIT 3: I got it exactly how it is in the TAS, but only after trying to get it after 30 tries. I was then able to get it every 5-15 tries afterwards. The fact that so many people can get this time doesnt make it Trivial, because it just a frame perfect trick that is short enough that people can try and try it again until they get it. If it was Trivial, then I would be getting this trick consistently with every try.
