I cant understand why so many users submit SMB tases when it's clear that they do not beat the publication. ESPECIALLY if they know it's slower. What does it accomplish?

My note is basically saying it’s not for games that have known skips that aren’t used in the published tas, but for movies that are so outdated that RTA has surpassed the tas. If a new skip in a game makes it so the RTA world record is faster than the published tas, then it’s included in the list.

Not sure I understand your question. If you mean why I don’t just list new techniques, it’s because it’s specifically for tases that are severally outdated to the point where RTA is faster than the current publication. Granted, I need time to update this list at some point.

This will be my only off topic post in this thread. Personally I dont care if the encode that is provided by an author is not in HD, I’m not always at my computer so if a submission comes in and has no encode then it’s a bit tedious to turn my computer on and watch it from there. Any sort of viewing I can get would be appreciated, even if not in HD quality. If I do want HD quality then I can always wait for the publication encode (in the case it gets accepted).

The fact that there’s no way to make the screen move faster makes me feel like this run is extremely trivial. Maybe the bonus stages (one where balloons come out from tubes) could make this non trivial enough to be acceptable, but as far as being entertaining, it’s getting a no vote from me.

so this is interesting. I had managed to save 163 or so more frames off of your rough draft which is good. however I decided to relook at one section in the run and found a 270 frame improvement. that improvement can be seen at around 11367, instead of clipping into the wall as soon as I get there, I realized the trampoline was actually closer than I originally thought. As far as I know this is the only thing that I had found. so now we are looking at a 439 frame improvement. here is the new file: http://tasvideos.org/userfiles/info/53534111496309487

I know Masterjun as “attempted” to do it with Mario Odyssey, but I dont think it went very far. I blame the emulator still being very early in development.

Is there any reason why the publication was not encoded at 60fps? The temp encode shows shinobi flashing during his iFrames, but in the publication you cant see shinobi during it. There’s also a few cutscenes that are in 60 but the gameplay isnt. Im just confused why this was done.

This is really the least important thing you should be worrying about, especially since that submission also got 20 yes votes on it. Those meh votes are not going to change anything, you still have the publication with a 8.9 entertainment rating (as of making this comment). I see no reason to worry about those “meh” votes. I found the last movie entertaining and I found this new one just as entertaining. Yes vote from me.

I enjoyed the tight movement and the enemy manipulation (getting it close to the stone slabs). I also liked the combat and speedy boosts from running. Not much I can say that I didn’t like other than long cutscenes or simmilar, stuff that the author has no control over.

So I never got a chance to really ask this at the time but is there absolutely no way this bootleg could be acceptable? Even though it has most of the levels from another bootleg, there are 2 unique levels.

Yes it works here too. I used it a bit in the first level, although it’s barely noticeable.
