It might save that 1/2 second as there is no "enemy missed" or "you took 0,0001 damage" message after the "Enemy used an attack" message. And against faster opponents, it is always faster to paralyze. And the base damage difference between strenght and body slam is 5, and it is really not that much (Bubble has BD 20, water gun 40, bubblebeam 60, surf 95, dig 100, strenght 80, BS 85, ignoring the damage bonus blastoise gets by being the same type than the attack).

Aren't you going to get body slam?

Shoat is useless - break is the same thing. According to my terribly hard calculations, you need to have everyone at lvl 70 to be able to kill Neo ExDeath in 2 turns (8 actions). To raise your levels, you need to use Dragon Power (20 lvls, dragonfang + (hi-)potion or 10 lvl antidote + holy water - dragon fangs can't be bought) Assuming your levels will be at least 10, you'd need somewhere between 12-24 actions (3-6 turns) to prepare, and golem and carbuncle possibly to survive, and 6,001... = 6 actions to kill it (reflected damage). That makes a total of 6 + 12 + 8 = 26 actions, 6,5 turns. Assuming my calculations are correct, 7 turns for final battle is not bad. Assuming original levels are 10, it would take 18 gil tosses, 50 * 10 * 4 * 18 gil, total 36000 gil. The algorithms are (lvl + 10 - def) * 150 for gil toss and 50 * original level * targets for lost gil. NeoExdeath has 30 def and exdeath has 35. Damage should be 7500 to NXD and ED 6750. Highest HP for NXD is 60000 and ED has 40001. I hope my calculations, values and algorithms are correct.

I'm working on a better version already, so I'll just cancel this.

Cheap tactics for world 2: Abductor: Let it kill you. Whee. Gilgamesh 1: Demi Gilgamesh 2: Release a sand bear, jail bear and 2 sand bears. Stupid lizard: Fenix Down Abductor (is it the name?): Break Stupid Plant: Death Claw + attack Gilgamesh 3: !Mix a doom potion, if you can. If doom potion works, death claw should too? Atomos: Sleep... or Dark Shock + Lvl 5 Death Crystals: Deathclaw can hit them all ExDeath: Release 4 yellow dragons. Really the only way to kill him fast. I think the fastest way to kill the last boss is !mixing level up potions and throwing gil. Gil Throw is fast and deals a lot of damage, and you don't have to buy that much stuff so you'll have a lot of money.

Any luck figuring out what was causing random desyncs in OoA? Odd that it would happen in that and not OoS...
Well, the only difference really is the hard reset. And the random desyncs were around the hard resets, so I think it might have some effect.

Okay, I started redoing the OoS run. I cleared the second dungeon and it is about half minute faster. I can't put the video to the internet now ._. Time is saved by reducing useless diagonal walk (a surprise), reduced killing of bats, setting bombs better to get throught many places faster and getting the first heart container and taking more damage in second dungeon. I have enought money for the boxing match. I hope I can save enought time for <2h run

I also may not go and beat the Vermilion Gym right away.. I'm currently looking over the possibility of skipping it and just going right at Cerulean instead and progressing on until I pick up Fly, then when I get a chance, Flying back to Vermilion and defeating the Gym then, and also looking into other possible timesavers as well.
Missed this. You need to defeat Lt. Surge to use Fly.

And, to answer the Strength slave question, I do have an idea for that - Snorlax. Catching it will almost certainly be faster than trying to defeat it, since it has loads of HP and will likely be impossible to one hit once I reach it.. and I just toss Strength onto it instead of Blastoise. (Marowak, on the other hand, is weak to Water and should be quite easy to one hit once I get that far.)
The fastest way is to run. And the marowak can't be caught. But you could run from it too :P

Ok, looks fine (better than my OoS run, which is no miracle) but couldn't you have used the restart sequence to get outside the library or some other house after getting the key? You would have needed to enter it first, thought.

IIRC, non-critical hits have a bit of variation in their damage themselves. So for example, if the enemy hangs on with a couple of HP, try the hit a few more times and it can vary to be more than their health and kill 'em. In one fight, he got confused and hurt himself like 3 times in a row.. ouch.
All attacks, except nightshade, seismic toss, dragon rage and sonicboom (any others?) have a certain amount of randomness (the end of the damage calculation is ...*255/X, where X is a random number between 217 and 255. This applies for critical hits too. The beginning of the damage calculation is 2A/5+2, where A is the level and CHs double it. After that, it's pure multiplication except for an odd +2 damage which doesn't do almost anything). For more random babbling, getting Zapdos would really require the use of master ball. It is about impossible to do it otherwise. But I understand now why you won't get it :P Fly will help you get to Lavender from Celadon quickly, from Fuschia (how is it written?) to Pallet, from Cinnabar to Viridian. I think it should be gotten. And getting a strenght slave might not be the fastest way, because blastoise can learn it and it is a whopping 5 base power lower than body slam and can't paralyze. No idea how much those 2 "minor" things help compared to the small amount of time it takes to catch a slave. Meh, I'm writing random things again.

Well, that certainly explains the matter. And technically even Rival isn't forced, but a pokemon with cut can't be traded. The cerulean trainers really are annoying, too many grasses with stun spore and poisonpowder. Against squirtle... And a speedrun would be really boring. Menuwars without any kind of attack graphics. And if nobody knows (I doubt it, thought) random battles can be prevented by stopping for a while right before the battle. Blastoise will probably be around level 50 in the end. Earthquake is behind a single trainer in the 10th or 11th floor in Silph co.

which trainers in vermilion? There are only 2 forced battles (Rival and Lt. Surge). Consider getting zapdos, it defeats sabrina and lorelei with no problem and might kill some of the rival's pokemon faster. Criticals don't do exactly 2x damage, it might be better sometimes if it is not a critical.

Great, now it desynced here too. Oh crap... It desynced with me once in the first dungeon too, had to remake it. And now I have to do the tokay island third time... If it desyncs once more then I'm gonna stop, it's totally not fun to do a long game which desyncs all the time. The block puzzle in the beginning of 2nd dungeon is red with me too. ...okay, I checked. It desyncs even in the 2nd-dungeon-done video. Why haven't I noticed this before... I at least check every dungeon even if I don't check everything between them.

Third dungeon done. The video is almost an hour long already... The Tokey (tokay?) Island is annoying so I didn't really have any reason in doing this fast. And I had to redo the whole island once thanks to a mistake ._. Third dungeon is pretty much walking in circles, thanks to the spinning wheel-thingie. I took the heart container once again, it refills hearts really fast and gives more energy to spend. Bosses are nothing special.

Can't see the run now but I think using that kind of glitch-warping will just ruin the game. I'd rather see a run where the game is defeated like it was supposed to be played than a run where you just use glitches to skip the whole game.

Yes, you have to do the trading sequence and then go to the patch's house to fix the broken sword. Takes really long time. First dungeon done. I picked 10 rupees (and few by "accident") as I need money for all those minigames. The order of the 2 switches in a room in the dungeon doesn't matter, the platform is still there where it shouldn't be :(. Second dungeon done. I had to "visit" the Black tower to manipulate Maple into giving me her potion. Better hope I won't waste it during the game. I almost did that already, thank god I noticed it. This game seems to take longer than OoS (with all the time travel and evil puzzles). I took the heart container because it was the fastest one to get and it might be useful. More hp to sacrifice for speed, at least. Good timing with bombs kills the second boss kinda fast and the miniboss is just waiting. I hope someone watches and comments the run so I don't have to redo the whole run if I make a more-or-less obvious mistake.

I just wonder: 1. Why did you save so many times during the game? 2. Is it possible to do a glitch run?
1. To "warp" into some places faster than it would take to walk. No point in walking from the depths of the dancing dragon dungeon when you can just save & reset to get to the beginning much faster. 2. I don't know any glitches, if you know please tell me. I already said I'll make version 2 after making a run of OoA, which will be started tomorrow. I'll try to make it so good I don't need to redo it.

The only things I would need to do in OoS is to get the ring secret, the secret to labrynna (is that its name?) which is gotten after defeating the game and the secrets for getting the sword upgrade and other possible upgrades. All of them can be done after defeating the game (well, the ring secret... I don't know when the earliest time it can be gotten is). Well, it's a mute point now as it is clear there are more people wanting the non-linked game. The planning of the path for OoA is little harder, as I have to think where I can travel throught time before the tune of currents and tune of ages. Like visiting some house in the Lynna City after the first dungeon so I can save&reset to get to Nayru's house fast after the forest scene. Or maybe just straigh visit Nayru's house (somewhat far away from the straight path to the forest), I have to check which is fastest. And I need to collide with Maple to get the potion fast the king zora. And as there is no input about the Noble's sword, I won't get it. I'll probably start the run tomorrow morning (it's about 10:30 pm here) so expect something tomorrow.

I checked and diagonal movement really is slower. Still not sure about the reset thing, I might as well trust nitsuja. I just need to find out how soon the reset can be pushed with the data saved. Linked game only makes the game easier by giving me more items (with most of them useless on a speed run, maybe some item apart from the sword upgrade can make the run faster (Bombchus maybe?), no idea). The story changes are mostly some minor dialog changes, some different NPCs in some places, a total new dungeon which takes too much time even if the prize would be useful and the Room of Rites with Twinrova and Ganon waiting to be killed. And Zelda also appears, mostly wasting time. I'd personally rather do the linked game than the normal, as it would finish the story and raise the damage I do, resulting in faster time. But if the audience wants the normal game, I'll do it. I'll probably start the run in sunday, I'm not sure which game I'll do and Saturday I'm too busy with life. Today probably is wasted for either planning or personal things.

That's only an illusion - use the frame counter and you'll see that it (extra diagonal movement) always slows you down compared to going straight. (Not cutting across corners diagonally also slows you down compared to walking around going one direction then the other.)
Ok, I'll look into it. Thanks for the information. Now, I'll ask your opinion about few things in OoA... 1) Should I play the linked game or the normal? In linked game there is a lot of extra story, 4th heart container in the beginning, and a shield in the beginning. I can also use passwords to get a sword upgrade and the red ring for 4x damage 2) Should I get the Noble sword (Master sword in the linked game) or should I just ignore it? It takes a long trading sequence to get it, so I personally think it it not worth it.

The heart containers may or may not help. It is really hard to say before doing the run, so I didn't take any of them. And getting recovery hearts isn't that hard, thought it takes only 1 text box and little walking to get the heart container. I'll look into it when I make the version 2 someday (this has so many small flaws...). Not before the OoA run I'm going to make soon.
