I've always been partial to this one, having seen it hundreds of times when the game first came out. It's more of a commercial than a trailer though. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DhB8XG9_5Rc

Cooljay, is that a real model or a 3D (CG) model? Either way, it's pretty impressive.
Thanks it's a CG model :)
Weird, when I looked at it last night I thought it was real but couldn't figure out what you had made it out of. Now that I know it's CG I can tell, but it actually had me fooled.

Be careful about wrapping the cords too tight! I always leave some slack where the cord meets the controller so that it comes out straight. Otherwise, over time, the wires will separate. I've lost a couple of controllers this way.

Well, back when I bought it, that's about how much they were. Kinda wish I had stocked up now.

^ I love how they probably just got that interpretation of Mario by extrapolating from the in-game sprites. They actually didn't too too horribly, except for the hat.

I actually make it a point to just call it FFIII. I have met way too many people that insist on calling it FFVI for the wrong reason (because they insist that anything from Japan is automatically better and more correct than anything else) than for the right reasons (to prevent general confusion). Also it's sort of force of habit. I actually have no idea what the real Final Fantasy III is like, having never played III, IV, or V. Didn't they only translate them relatively recently?

EarthBound is definitely my favorite (if it wasn't obvious). Even without my nostalgia and bias, I still attest that it's an amazing game. Sure the battle system can be basic, but many other aspects more than make up for that. Illusion of Gaia is probably second for me (it wasn't always). The game is really dark and weird. Some translation sloppiness kind of bugs me though. FFIII was my first SNES RPG, and I still love it, but I think I've overplayed it.

I don't think compilations will happen because Mother 2 and 3 are terribly dated games. They might look cool and have some funny plot but their gameplay is boring as hell. That battle system is a joke.
Currently, Earthbound is one of the most expensive games on the SNES, for not being all that rare. I've got my copy that I never play, but man, that game is overpriced.
I have a cart that I play and a mint copy that stays in the box with the guide and all the other original stuff that came with it (along with even the little power to the player ads or whatever they are). It cost me around $160 I think. I also have a scratch and sniff ad from Nintendo Power. EDIT: Holy shit, why is it so expensive now?! Are people actually paying $4,000 for it?

This is wonderful! It gladdens my heart to see the ultimate warrior and R Bear destroyed so cheaply.

Cool! The standard way I've been doing these is using double integrals using the pdf. The joint density is a constant (c), and c x (Area of the shape) = 1 (rule of probability). The area is 34 (graphically we see that there's a triangle of area 2 taken out of the top corner of a 6X6 square), so c = 1/34, which is our pdf. Then we set up the double integrals using both "shapes" (the 4X6 rectangle and the remaining quadrilateral), integrating (T1 + T2)(f(x)) for each. Add them and we get ~5.73!

I've been studying for an actuarial exam I'll be taking soon, concerning probability, and have learned quite a bit about it. One of the most interesting things has been joint probability between two random variables. If you're familiar with this subject, this one shouldn't be too difficult: Let T1 be the time between a car accident and reporting a claim to the insurance company. Let T2 be the time between the report of the claim and payment of the claim. The joint density function of T1 and T2, f(t1,t2), is constant over the region 0 < t1 < 6, 0 < t2 < 6, t1 + t2 < 10, and zero otherwise. Determine E(t1 + t2), the expected time between a car accident and payment of the claim.

I feel like it would just be 0 for -1 < x < 1. Everywhere else would not be plottable since infinity is not in the real numbers. EDIT: Also, iirc 1^infinity is considered indeterminate so you can't plot that either.

I might have guessed as much. What I'm really interested in is why so many of you are interested and familiar with it. It seems like an obscure subject, but maybe it's not, and maybe there's a reason that all of you are knowledgeable and interested in it. Is it a programmer thing?

I have problems scrolling past it as well. I have to ask, where does the interest and knowledge of these colorspaces come from? I'm guessing there's something special about these images, but I'm not sure what.

I made an interesting discovery, but I'm not sure it's possible to exploit without cheats. At Dyne's Monument, the very first area of the game, there is a chest behind the top of the tree (it is actually visible if you walk up as far as Alex can go, especially if you wait for the wind to blow the tree). Inside the chest is a Rememberizer and the Dragon Wings, but I've only been able to get there with a code. The crazy thing is that both the Rememberizer and the Dragon Wings from this chest are completely maxed out; in other words you can view any cutscene or warp anywhere. This would obviously destroy a playthrough of this game! Presumably, this is a leftover from when the game was being developed. Having these items at the beginning of the game would make it easier for playtesters to do whatever they had to do. Like I said though, I've only reached it with cheats. Also, FWIW, I feel that the PSX version is different enough to warrant them as separate games. Link to video

Getting into cross-stitching. I made this Magnet Hill fridge magnet: The colors are a bit off. I'll probably redo it.

This has to be my favorite BFM track: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_26-7g5sq2k In addition to how awesome it is, actually playing the part of the game that it's paired with lends much more feeling to the track. Musashi is plowing through dozens of robot enemies while rushing forward to the end of the game.

Have you considered showcasing the Link and Samus cameos? That might be nice to throw into the 100% category, though it might raise some objections in terms how arbitrary this rule would be.

It is impossible to look for videos of actual real-life ponies on YouTube. I took my son to a petting zoo recently where he saw a pony. Now he's obsessed and asked for me to find videos of ponies. A quick YT search of the phrase "ponies" brings up what I should have expected. Typing in phrases like "real-life ponies" just brings up videos of MLP characters superimposed in real-life situations. Other similar attempts fail.

I only realized I could use them on the SNES a few years after getting an N64. I was so happy. Much much later I realized there was a video and audio out on the side of my NES. I really hated reaching awkwardly behind my tv and trying to screw something in at a weird angle. Come to think of it, I still have to do this when I want to play Genesis.
