This messes up position and speed subvalues such that it doesn't nicely connect into the previous movie, plus the birds are in different positions on the subsequent tiers. Still worth redoing it though, as it is a significant improvement, so sadly this will delay this submission.
You should take in mind on doing the secret levels too, if anyone in the future will planning to do all levels as "full completion" this movie will get obsolete due to the new rule changes, like happened here. I asked for the confirmation of a judge some replys above, but nobody answered me, but I think you understand.

Alright, I checked and the secret levels don't unlock doors, but I have a great doubt, if a "all levels" TAS is created including both secret levels should obsolete the "any%" TAS in this game like happened on the tinny toons movie with the new rule?

They unlock doors of the castle when you finish them right? they can be used for the any% run or count as a cheat? I have to download the rom and check. Btw I really liked the run, Yes vote of course.

I remember in this game that in a window of the clastle there are secret levels and when you finish these levels you unlock the door of the last ones... right? I'm not remember correctly (my memories of childhood are very vague).

Evil_3D and Archanfel, please do not quit the site over this argument.
I will not do it I know that the deprecation of gens will happen soon or latter, but let us do our super-human movies here the remaining life time of gens. It's hard/frustrating moving to other emulator when you have accustomed to a constant-productive workflow on this emu.

Please don't play coy with me. Let's look over this submission's discussion where it was first called out. Since we're going to play detectives.
I'm not playing here.

The only person who gave a valid point whilst you and Archanfel were shitposting was WST.
My experience using both emulators was the same as WST, just removing the Linux factor.

One of those reasons that are there is "MY COMPUTER IS SHIT" (paraphrased) which is somewhat valid especially if you haven't upgraded your system in 4+ years... and I thought my oldest system was shit, but that runs Hawk fine.
I'm not going to buy a new PC just to run Bizhawk here, specially with the inflation in my country don't allow me currently. I'm talking serious when the emulator runs awfully slow when I have to open his tools.
Spikestuff wrote:
Linux support is a great reason too. The push is needed for you folks to actually needs to port it to something that already has a foundation in the Linux area for the better emulator, aka lsnes. Since WINE isn't doing the job for you.
If I have to choice, I'll choce to upgrade gens to gpx-plus core, add TAS Studio/RAM search and improve the avi dumper. But heh, I'm not a programmer yet to try.

Keep in mind, for those who making TAS for themselves, their emulatior choice is not depending on TASVideos rules. Even more, nothing depends. Only their own feeling what emu and what TAS they like to do. And only by coincidence resulting TAS is acceptable here. Just because people tend to use better tools and interesting runs.
This is how I started in TASing, and surely the majority. I never imagined I would end up debating something like this, even with my low presence in the forums.

My view is: If you want Gen TASers to swap to Bizhawk, then accomodate their workflows (performance/OS compatibility needs, camhacks and other scripts they rely on, etc). Otherwise you're asking for TASers to effectively make worse work by swapping to an emulator that is less performant for their use cases.
This is why I originally asked why gens was used, but I think most people were frustrated when a troll answer like "Gens is love, Gens is life" was given instead of a more genuine answer.
First, it was a little joke about the "love and life meme" my intentions wasn't insult bizhawk dev team. Second, when we give our valid points about why we still used gens, some others still said to us to do a valid asnwer of why do you really use gens. It's our personal point of view/situation a valid answer or simply a empty word for other users? Third, it's a shame to see how the work of Archanfel is smearing only for use gens. These nonsense situations make me think on still in this community and simply quit or work off the site. I'm a favor to remove the last words of the movie description, don't have sense unless some users have planning on mark every innacuracy on every movie on the site, seriously, we need to stop this bullsh*t.

The question is, are there any unavoidably different in-level routes between these movies?
New routes no, the any% version will be like this movie only without the extra grass, forest, caves and snow levels. Part of me doubt to do the any% version in case some day something like this happen. Luckily you maded a comparison encode some post above, so you literally can see what I'm talking about.

Also I agree with Spike here, I would still like to know why gens is still being used. An no “gens is love, gens is life” excuse please.
Gens is hate, Gens is death... just kidding. On my personal experience using both emulator I can say: Gens 1. It's faster and don't have performance issues in old machines, even using .luas or another emulator windows. 2. It's easy to use and understand, is useful for newbies who want start TASing Genesis, Cd, x32 games. 3. Linux support I guess, for that marginal group of people. 4. It don't have TAS Studio, so editing inputs with TAS editor can be a little frustating. ( check desync, close emulator, open tas editor - .gmv, save, open emulator, movie and checking for desyncs again ) Bizhawk 1. Using it these days I noticed that have big perfomance issues on my PC, when I open ramsearch, ramwatch or running .luas, the emulator start running very slow. ( I have 4gb ram, athlon II x2 215 ). 2. It can be very confused to use the first times, specially if you come from another emulator and wonted to your personal set of hotkeys. 3. Has very useful tools like TAS Studio and edit the movie in real time. 4. With a good PC is more recommended, not only for sega games, it supports more console emulators. 5. Linux people can't use it, I guess. Personally I think that they should let people enjoy what they do here and not force them to always use Bizhawk if there is a more comfortable option for them, a movie made in gens has the same effort as one made in Bizhawk and should be valued equally, even if they have "1/2 frames of loading times differences". Now I would like to ask you, for what reasons do you hate gens? In the site as I remember there are some consoled verified movies of gens. (Idk if hate is the correct word, I'm not native english though)

And Sonic folk it's just because of Lua being your excuse and lack of a "camhack". (Since some of you are apparently Linux bound) How about you port a better Genesis emulator into something like lsnes, an emulator that goes to Linux and use that instead?
Are you attacking me for doing a joke? good, good boy, the world needs more people like you. I'm not really insterested of talking about a topic talked 100 times already and I don't want to ruin Archanfel's submission with this, thank you.

I like this tipe of goals, the movie was very entertaining for me even when I'm not 100% fan of Mario.

I don't think this deserve a rejection only for that, as the first movie of this goal I prefer to give a chance for publication, after all, nothing stop you to obsololete this movie later.

Obviously you can use 2 players, but I think is better going for the arcade version of this game, the arcade version have more content, levels, the first boss has 3 phases instead of 2 here, and you can use the 3 characters at the same time. So personally I preffer TASing the arcade version of that game for this reasons.

Just to extend a little more the new glitch in mhz2: you can spawn the capsule buttom and the capsule itself at the same time, this prevents it from spawn at the end but if you don't adjust the possition correctly you can get crushed in the boss arena. I don't think that save time in the transition 'cause Sonic always jump on the second engine of the ship, but I wan't to show this. Link to video
