Since this thread is already on top of the forum, I might as well show you all this cool and weird glitch, which I just caught on tape for the first time. Neat huh?

comicalflop, I'm not looking to post stuff which will actually be included in the movie :) But yeah Vanilla Dome 2 is quite neat. I can say this though. Tubular might now be the coolest level in the entire run, easily top5 anyway. Ever since we (jimsfriend, <3) got it to work we've been screaming uncontrollably, pretty much. It's awesome.

Holding left and right at the same time will make you go much faster when in a lakitu cloud or in P-balloon mode. It was originally discovered by skamastaG on console, interestingly enough :)

Hey guys, I haven't done a lot of work on my 96 exit run lately. Today, though, a new discovery was made which means some of the pretty cool looking new stuff I had done is obsolete and needs redoing. So I figured, why not release a few pretty nice looking levels which won't find their way into the final run? Hopefully it might generate some interest in the run. These three levels were 3½ seconds faster than in the published movie, in total. Click me. Star World 5 secret exit, Gnarly and Tubular. Hope you enjoy.

AKA and RT, Congratulations on keeping up with the latest hip internet lingo. Might want to add a bit of substance though, or people might consider your posts stupid and unnecessary.

comicalflop, It sucks you're feeling stressed, obviously. I'm glad you've identified the problem though so you can start dealing with it. Good luck.

Imprecise may not be the best word, but everything seems to move faster due to that increased gravity, which gives you less reaction time than the original in all sorts of spots.
Well, that is inarguably true. But then again, it comes down to one's reflex limitations and other abilities, so the problem is present here — although not with the game, but rather with your personal inability to control it (as, for example, being unable to drive on highway is the driver's problem, not the vehicle's).
In other words, what you're saying is if you're driving on a regular highway, then switch to driving on ice, it's the drivers fault not being able to control the vehicle, rather than the ice's? Am I interpreting your analogy correctly?

AKA, You really need to read the submission text before making uninformed comments/votes like that. Here's the quote: " * y/x are still pressed in this run, but only for holding items, never to increase mario's speed(except for underwater) Left/right and Y/X are never pressed at the same time on land or in air. This puts mario's maximum speed at 21, where the normal running speed is 49 and flight is 51. However, we manage to exceed the 21 max speed on a few occasions through various techniques." It very clearly says that holding Y (or X) is ok as long as it is not used to increase Mario's running speed. The reason for this is being able to hold items, like you said yourself. It's really very disrespectful to dismiss a run like that because of ignorance alone. As for this, "I thought this game was impossible to complete without pressing Y or X and I was indeed proved right.", well duh. Congratulations on that discovery, and congratulations on being proven right. Edit: Cardboard was faster.

N, Bisqwit submitted a walkathon of Super Mario Bros last April 1. So the concept is old, the run itself is new. Edit: Actually 2 years ago apparently.

Also, since I like to have creds: [20:36:33] <Fabian_> not that it matters [20:36:40] <Fabian_> but I think I was the first one to do the ABABAB 64 speed glitch [20:36:46] <Fabian_> in a demo of one of the cannon levels [20:36:48] <Fabian_> a couple months ago

Guys saying you didn't like the movie but voting yes anyway, Maybe this is stupid and unnecessary to point out since you all probably realize it already, but just because the first TAS on a new platform gets rejected, it doesn't mean every TAS ever made from now on for that platform will be automatically rejected. So, voting yes on this run because you like the "concept of PC runs" despite the movie itself sucking very much is, well, weird at best.

I went searching for the original Super Demo World topic started by my friend who I was co-working with. To my surprise, the wip we uploaded was still avaliable for download, so I uploaded it to microstorage. Here it is. It's the first 5 levels for a 15 exit Super Demo World run. Also, here's the thread with the relevant discussion. This was a couple months before the hopping glitch (a now standard and huge timesaver) became known. Plenty of other stuff is bad with the run too, of course. We did manage to get the title screen perfect though :) All in all it's roughly 4.25 seconds slower than JXQ's 15 exit run, which is pretty close to optimal. A few months after this movie was made I started (individually) on a 120 exit run of the game. Eventually JXQ joined the project, and that run of ours is still one of my favorite TASes and I think in the top10 of rated movies on the site. Wee nostalgia.

I watched 20 minutes of the run. I voted no. Frankly, I can't imagine this movie wouldn't be instantly rejected had some Schmoe made it, rather than Bisqwit. I think it would be very unfair to publish something as unsuitable for a TAS as this, when we reject much, much more interesting (and equally well made) movies for being too boring, repetitive or unsuitable, just because of its author. gaia summed it up pretty well: "Most of the game is spent in hyperspace, running back and forth between planets, talking with aliens with dialog too fast to read and picking up items that we don't really know what they are unless we read the comments (or know what they are already)."

moozooh, I definitely think people will/do/might care about recognition and all those things you mention. I don't think people (yes there are obviously exceptions, such as yourself) will/do/might care about the forum title "Expert Player", however. Hope this clears that up. Edit: To further clarify, this was said in the context of people starting to work much more/harder in order to achieve this forum title "Expert Player", as stated in the original quote. I don't believe this will ever act as a huge (or even small) motivator.
