I apologize if I sounded harsh in my previous posts. It's not my intent to upset anyone. SectionX, if I get some time in the next few weeks, maybe I'll write my own commentary for GuanoBowl's run. I hope to make it text-based, and actually explain things so that people who aren't familiar with OoT can understand what's going on.
As I've said a few times already in the irc channel, I think this is the type of tas commentary which would be extremely boring and would not interest anyone except the actual commentator. This is not to discourage you or anything, I'm just saying a strictly trick explaining walkthrough for a 2½ hour run will likely have a very small customer base. And yeah a bit off topic but you tend to really be an asshole sometimes. I'm glad to learn it's not your intent, it's never too late to start thinking about that stuff.

I can actually play this game pretty well nowadays. Like, I used to have lots of trouble with lots of levels, but then while making the TAS I'd just randomly play the level I was TASing 20 times because I needed every excuse I could find to not actually do some work :) Like the Ice Igloo, horrible level at first but now I don't think I could die there if I tried.

Yup, apparently I'm making stuff up now. That just makes the Star World tougher :)

There's lots of new stuff too, including some pretty useful things :) Don't want to spoil too much though so I'll leave it at that :)

It's like this: You get to a star world, let's say Water Star World. The star in question is red. If you get the normal exit, you're shipped off to the next Star World (Crystal in this case). When you find the secret exit, the star you're standing on on the world map becomes yellow, and you can return to the regular world map. Problem is, once the star becomes yellow, instead of entering the Star World level, you warp back to the regular world map. So if you want to finish all levels, you need to do all regular Star World exits in a row. This assumes you don't know of the super secret L+R, which lets you enter the Star World level anyway, even if it's yellow. Also works to enter Castles you've finished the normal way if you want to find the secret exit afterwards.

The level is designed to make Yoshi useless. If you recall, there's a pipe at the beginning, one of those Yoshi can't pass through. This was actually a level I never had much trouble with, although I recall JXQ saying he did. Sucks having to redo it all, but maybe you find a few new exits along the way! I'm at the Reznor fight in the Forest Fortress. So just 5 levels left in the Forest, including the castle+switch palace.

is there an AVI available yet?
I'm wondering this too. Specifically, I'm looking for a high quality avi, file size doesn't matter much. Let me know.

Pipe World 5. That level still give me nightmares when I think about it. Crystal Castle feels really easy nowadays, but yeah that took a loong time to beat for me too. I agree it's a super super awesome game for normal playing, you still have a few fun levels ahead of you :) About SMW stuff JXQ has helped me regain some motivation for my run. Today I actually did 4 levels, how freaky is that!

I watched American Pie yesterday. I know what you're thinking, here I have this huge list of great movies I've never watched, and I decide to download American Pie. In my defense I was very tired, so watching a serious movie would've been a bad idea. Anyway, bleh. No surprise there of course. Shannon Elizabeth's boobies and Mena Suvari looking surprisingly hot, and also a bit like Emma Watson I thought, pushes the film up to a strong 3 or a weak 4 on my scale. Most bad high school flicks I've seen have been better than this one. Tonight I'm thinking Vanilla Sky. We'll see about that.

IT is proper well encoded.
I'm not saying it's a bad AVI, I don't know about that. I'm just saying that it has been rejected and won't be used for publication on the site. I'm not saying people shouldn't download it if they want to. I'm also saying that when the movie does get published, it will be an AVI more similar to the ones currently published on the site, in terms of size for example.

This isn't the tasvideos official soon-to-be-published AVI. This is just an AVI that HiddenGamer has been making in his spare time. A proper, well encoded AVI will appear on the site when the movie gets published eventually.
This is proper you havent even seen it and you judge it?
We've already had this discussion fifteen billion times in the irc channel. That being said, I would trust Bisqwit's ability to judge an AVI fifteen billion times before yours. It's not me who's rejected it, I'm just telling F-Man what's going on.

Yeah I would agree. I went ahead and put the videos up with no disclaimers. I hope this is okay, I can change it if need be. The only ones I made with an emulator are "SMW Front Door - 358" and "SMW Star World 3 (key) - 192" as you can probably tell. ;) EDIT: Yes I am from SDA, and dont worry, I know they dont accept .smv's. I just make them as a sort of WIP for showing my route and stuff. EDIT 2:

why would you hide the fact they're made on an emulator if you didn't cheat?
No reason, its just that it seems weird to say "These 2 videos were made on an emulator. They're not tool-assisted though, because they dont use savestates, slowdown, frame advance, rerecords, etc and are played with an SNES controller plug-in." This might just confuse a lot of people, especially when the majority of my runs I put up were done on console (with extremely bad quality, which is why I decided to switch to the emulator in the first place).
I know and I agree, I wouldn't find it suspicious at all. My point is I can totally see people less informed about the nature of emulators and tool assistance than myself finding it pretty suspicious and weird that you would hide it if you had "nothing to hide", you know? Again, just another consideration, I doubt it would be that big a deal.

It depends who you ask, in what context they're used, etc. Since there's no way of being sure if an smv hasn't been tampered with (editing the rerecord count to 0, for example), an smv is not accepted for official stuff like sending in to SDA or something, as I'm sure you're aware. For me, if I trust the runner (which I do in this case), I have no problem with an smv being considered non-tool assisted. Be aware that others might feel differently though, because of the possiblilty of cheating or other stuff going on. Edit: Another consideration is that if you do not state that your runs are made using an emulator (although non-tool assisted), if someone finds out and calls you on it, it would look pretty suspicious for anyone not aware of the details of the situation, ie why would you hide the fact they're made on an emulator if you didn't cheat?

Hey guys just wanted to drop by and check how the AVI encoding is going, thanks.
If HiddenGamer fails to encode a good .avi version, Im affraid we have to wait a bit long for the final version. DeHackEd, is messing around a bit with Mupen but lets hope he'll solve his problem. Havent heard how Nrgspoon is doing encoding this run.
Thanks AngerFist. I'm crossing my fingers for HG then :)

I thought you confuse her with another actress all the time. How can you be sure that it's actually Natalie Portman in that movie?
I think you confuse me with someone else. Maybe you're confusing me with the guy who didn't know who Natalie Portman was when we did our fun guessing game?
