Also, it wasn't so much a claim as much as it was a fact

I think you are being very pedantic. Like I said, I think the discussion should've ended there. If you are concerned with making an any% TAS I suggest you do it yourself. I have full faith in OoT's community that if a new TAS was warranted based on recent discoveries they would put in the appropriate effort as needed.

The point is that there are several glitches that could be used in a TAS that aren't being used in unassisted runs.
You just contradicted yourself within the next paragraph..

Are you even reading what slowking has posted? I urge you to perhaps read the statements again telling you how the TAS would be nearly identical to current RTA runs. I would also suggest you watch the current RTA record and compare it to the "spliced" TAS already out there on the web. I think this discussion should end here, there is nothing else to be said that hasn't been already in regards to any%.

I don't appreciate you calling me names. I will be reporting you for harassing me. This isn't the place for that... In regards to what n3rds said, I agree you two should make a full any% tas, it's overdue and you two would be a good person to do it

This is way too similar to all dungeons,i have to watch minutes until i get some different stuff,i can't believe this is going to be accepted but i guess zelmetrario always gets a pass. Defintely well done, but not entertained by it.

Oh alright sorry for the misunderstanding. Typically English speakers have the word "significantly" being synonymous with "worlds ahead". Perhaps you can draw a diagram that helps illustrate how far ahead you think the Ocarina of Time Any% TAS would be compared to the current Any% record or even for the small trick you mentioned. I would love to TAS this if the trick is significant enough, not worlds ahead, to change the route.

Yeah, I'll help guide you in the right direction. A couple sentences earlier you just said this.

For a TAS they shouldn't be much of a problem, and would probably make the TAS significantly faster, and quite different from the current any% WR.

I am not sure I am understanding your argument. We have those tools and we have applied those tools in this very TAS. It still takes an enormous effort even with the tools to create a highly optimized TAS. There is over decades of combined experience in OoT that worked on the planning and creation of this TAS. If a tool can shorten the TASing process by orders of magnitude over decades of experienced players I'd absolutely love to see it. However as it stands, you are heavily generalizing people of N64/GC TASing of being lazy or incapable of basic programming.

I'm just curious what are these tools that N64 TASers lack? I think you are seriously underestimating the complexity of TASing a game with hundreds of runners over time, no new tool is going to be created that will dampen the sheer amount of knowledge required to make even the most basic route. There already exists memory watch, lua scripts, and a vast amount of information on ZSR/accompanying spreadsheets that are used. Hell, even this TAS makes use of a new tool to view collision... which you can find in the submission. What tools do other systems use that would benefit the creation of N64 TASs? Attacking jmarvin suggesting he is lazy for not developing tools is fairly arrogant.

This route is amazing so far, what do you expect to do after Tricky 2? I'm curious where you go from there

I'd love to see you beat the game with 8 balloons! Good luck! This will be an amazing feat to see considering the current low% run does 10 balloons, I really hope you do finish this. I wish you the best of luck. Sincerely, Faschz

I know the answer to that question, but why not try yourself. You seem to just be posting incoherent irrelevant messages that have no relation to any sort of TAS. If anyone was actually interested in some modern DKR TASs they can be found here: Wizpig 1: https://twitter.com/pheenoh/status/826098534516670464 Jungle Falls: https://twitter.com/Faschz/status/842649732069568514 Ancient Lake: https://twitter.com/pheenoh/status/850574522126405634 Fossil Canyon: https://twitter.com/pheenoh/status/871566259556581376

Hey guys, not sure if this is entirely relevant, but I couldn't find a better place to put this. I'm participating in a TwitchPlays for OOT, and earlier today we finished catching the rest of the Big Poes. Right after, I played the Prelude of Light to warp back to the Temple of Time so we can go turn in the poes. However, instead of those light particles showing up to take Link away, the screen just faded to white and transitioned to the next scene much more quickly. Here's the clip of it happening: https://clips.twitch.tv/twitchplayspapermario/DrabKangarooNinjaTroll We're playing this on a PAL 1.2 ROM on Project64 2.1. I couldn't find anything about it, so if this is known and there's a known method of triggering it, please let me know.
This is another effect of hyrule field glitch, zfg has a video here of the exact same thing. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F9gDddOyL4c

A 2 Player Adventure TAS on Adventure Two! Player 1 uses T.T. and races for fastest time while Player 2 uses whatever he/she chooses and uses multiple missiles to blast the CPU drivers and finds the keys. Silver Coin Challenge is harder on Adventure Two because of different placements. Darkwater Beach and Icicle Pyramid beat each other up, Other two battle courses 2P is on guard duty. There is no mercy invincibility in many racing games that I know of. NASCAR games will count you out if you wreck you car. Bill Elliott's NASCAR Challenge counts you out if you spin out. NASCAR '99 counts you out if you flip (except on 2 players). NASCAR: Dirt to Daytona does not count you out no matter how badly damaged your car is. Probably the developers didn't playtest it before releasing it to the public. Only the publishers do that. Now for the characters: Pipsy and Tiptup are light Conker and Timber are medium light Diddy and T.T. are medium Bumper is medium heavy Drumstick, Banjo, and Krunch are heavy Light is fast acceleration and turning, but low maximum speed. Heavy is high maximum speed, but slow acceleration and turning. Stats are opposite from Mario Kart, except for turning which are all about the same (before Double Dash!!). Medium being average with the exception of T.T. who is the best character of all. The DS version is different as there's different minigames. The Balloon Pop and Wish Challenges are new features. Microsoft owns Banjo and Conker, Nintendo owns Diddy Kong (Because of Donkey Kong), All the other DKR characters are owned by Rare. For the ultimate challenge: enter FREEFRUIT, BYEBYEBALLOONS, TIMETOLOSE, BOGUSBANANAS, VITAMINB, and ZAPTHEZIPPERS. These codes only work on Tracks mode (except for Time Trials). Just like certain cheats only work on Single Player on GoldenEye. We could use the GoldenEye Setup Editor to beta restore the overworld. Trophy Race glitch from Hot Top Volcano to Treasure Caves, Snowball Valley, Haunted Woods, and Spacedust Alley. The longest tracks in the game are Crescent Island, Walrus Cove, and Windmill Plains. The hardest track of all is Greenwood village. At least you need 37 balloons to access Haunted Woods' Silver Coin Challenge, but you need 39 to enter Spacedust Alley. Ugh! If you can't beat it, do the Trophy Race glitches, Glitch to Wizpig, then T.T. Stomp to Star City. Why do that when you can TAS this game?
I'll get back to you on this!

Samsara, have you made any progress on the run? I haven't seen anyone contribute anything to this since you last posted here in 2015. Perhaps you've had to restart all progress on the run, so I have a few suggestions of what you can do if you're willing to do this again: - There needs to be a lot of luck manipulation done so you get the shortest lines of dialogue from the villagers you talk to while doing Tom Nook's chores. Oh, and, during the chores, so you get a table that takes up 2 spaces in your house in order to perform the one glitch that's necessary for an all-debts run. - In this game (and City Folk), every town starts with six villagers, one of each personality. I thought of six villagers with names under 5 letters in length that could live here; they're Bob, Lily, Jay, Gabi, Mint, and Rolf. Unfortunately, some of their catchphrases are a little long (for instance, Jay's "heeeeeyy"), so I've decided on six other villagers whose catchphrases are under 5 letters in length: Amelia ("cuz"), Mitzi ("mew"), Apollo ("pah"), Pinky ("wah"), Biskit ("dawg"), and Ace ("ace"...pfft). Or, as a speed-entertainment tradeoff, there could be a mix of villagers from these two groups or maybe a few other villagers in this game that I'm fond of being in the town, some of those being Snake, Lucy, Astrid, Chief, Filbert, and Bangle. The heavy amount of botting that has to be done to ensure that every one of the villagers from any of these groups, especially the second one, live in the town is the hardest and longest part, and trying to keep the layout that RachelB's WIP got in the process would most likely add on to the amount of time that it'd take for the bot to get the result we want. - Whichever lines of dialogue from Rover take the shortest amount of frames to display, these lines have to be gotten to in the run to ensure the fastest time. Unfortunately, this is all I can do to help, mostly because I'm very inexperienced at TASing with Dolphin due to not having done it before. I'll probably add more suggestions in the future, along with wondering if a run that only does the chores and watches the credits is worthy of publication here. Or maybe one that manages to do as much as possible in the game as quickly as possible. Or even one that does the chores, pays off all of the debts, and then watches the credits. Who knows what will be accepted here?
Thank you, I will take this into consideration. You bring up a lot of good points here

What if we used the warp to get the trophy in space land?? Do you think that could be faster? That would be crazy, just think about it. Think about it

I actually partly did a TAS of this game a year ago to get familiar with TASing, most notable thing of this is probably the clip in the cave level (Which is already shown in the theory TAS of any%) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7poyJ2CaEH8

100% TASes of 2 Player Adventure is barely faster than 1 Player. Player 2 goes for the key if available. Fire Mountain shoot Player 2 over Player 1's nest to drop an egg. Dark Water Beach and Icicle Pyramid Players team up then kill each other at the end. Smokey Castle Player 2 shoots and Player 1 shoots Player 2 so that Player 1 can get 10 bananas quicker. Racing Taj on multiplayer causes other players to disappear until you go to another area.
Wow! Nice thinking, I'll be sure to include this in the 100% route I'm writing

Are you using a Lua script in Bizhawk to do this? If it is always based on velocity you could watch that memory address and change your tapping speed based on that. Would actually make this game fun to TAS.
Yes I used a Lua script to automatically tap the A button for me

When working on the TAS a few months ago we came up with a route http://pastebin.com/U3Z3jfGA hopefully this will stop anyone trying to come up with silly routes that don't make much sense as seen earlier in the thread. The icicle pyramid section would look like this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yrw8-1IPYCw if you've seen any 100% RTA runs, you'll notice they lose the minigame to get the trophy. This is roughly 30 seconds faster than winning the fastest race in Snowflake Mountain (snowball valley) Also after looking into tapping the A button specifically in car, we found its faster to hold A until a certain velocity, then tap every other frame until a certain velocity, etc. Until you are tapping A every 4th frame. So using that we created this slightly unoptimized TAS Dino 1 TAS https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W8KhZdVfcJE
