I'm a huge fan of the game, but it's way too boring to watch. It's a really slow game and the environments are completey dull. Panik on Funkatron however is perfect for a TAS, and I really want that guy to finish his, he got up to level 7 or so last year.

Nice, those two cork loops certainly put mine to shame, I'm surprised they could be pulled off so fluently. Great job

After that it's the same as the current route really. 1......_____..........5 .......|...3...|............ .......|____|............ ..2.............x.........y ....................4........ The existing route is 2-1-3-4-5. After collecting the final emerald sonic still ends up in the central room. He slides down the right hand side into the warp pod x. He comes out at Y, goes up the shaft and around into the boss room. The proposed new route is 1-2-4-5-3, which still finished with sonic in that central room, just in a different positon. You can still use the same method to leave. Just jump out, and use the warp pod x. I've already checked to see if you can use the super bouncing principles of the cages to give sonic enough speed to squeeze out of any of the shaft exits at the top, but it's proved impossible. It instantly overrides his movement and makes him slip straight back down anyway; so the bottom corners are the only exits to the room. The left hand side doesnt have anything useful about it, but the right hand side has that handy warp, so that's the only option here.

Here's the new route through The Machine http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1990463144/Sonic%20Spinball-Machine%20route.gmv It's not completed, nor fully optimised, but I'm sure you'll get the idea. This route doesn't involve wasting loads of time by waiting for the cages to finish rotating, so it's much better. You don't even need to do the glich to get the second caged emerald early either. As you can see, the timing works out perfect anyway, so you can just enter the cage normally. You'd have to save like 5 seconds in order for that glitch to be useful with this route, which I doubt is possible.

Well this was the first other S3&K thread I found, so I figure I'll discuss the glitch from that other thread here. First off, I presume you're supposed to have a completed knuckles save file in the first slot, otherwise it wont work. I have a sonic/tails file there, so it loaded me into Sky Sanctuary instead. Funny thing is, Sonic/tails still synch perfectly, and it actually does still perform glitches XD Sonic does a weird mid air jump at the start, and then he gets frozen during his hanging animation a bit later. Both completely useless, but it's still funny. Anyways, there's no way of copying save files, so could Mr_Sweed or someone else provide a save state which will work please? I don't feel like completing the game right now.

It doesn't have to be MM specifically, the trick is to just load any OOT save state from any rom, and it'll activate the CC glitch. It's currently impossible to work that into a TAS though, unless using a perminantly CC'd rom.

Magical so far, I loved how you mixed up the deku sprouts' deflection angles in order to still achieve the regular 2-3-1 order. Brilliant thinking right there, keep up the good work!

Nope, sorry. I just tried to aim inwards along the loop, but most of it was just trial and error

You know, it's not a Zelda II run if it's just the final section. It isn't that good to begin with, you wasted lots of time by fighting things you don't have to, and it's completely not what this site is about. In fact, the current glitched Zelda run on this site completes the whole game faster than you do that one section

Well, I was originally searching that area for a way to glitch one of the emeralds, then I found that spot. Oddly enough I didn't automatically assume I could use that spot to defy the law of physics :) Anyways, the cluck problem mentioned on level 4 cannot be passed: http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/416998972/SS-Testing.gmv When Sonic goes up that chute it automatically changes his stance. He stops rolling and starts doing an upwards dive; which is slower. I try to shoot up, but he respawns too fast. Immediately after landing, you may notice I try sliding up the path on the far left, but get stopped by a wall, so that passage doesnt work either.

Brilliant so far, but what are you aiming for? Are you trying to get above the ground and walk on to the boss, or use the ground to clip your way?

With the recent outbreak of improvements it's about time it get's its own topic, as there currently isn't any place to discuss them.

I'm currently doing a run, I've even found a few frame's improvement to the very first superspin. I doubt I'll find any other major breakthroughs in this run, so you've basically seen the whole movie now anyway.

GENTLEMEN! WITNESS THE NEXT BREAKTHROUGH OF THE SONIC SPINBALL TAS http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1851406277/Useful%20Glitch.gmv I was messing around in that area, as it seemed very likely to find a useful glitch. I was originally hoping to find a way to get sonic inside of the mine chutes without the need to pull the switches and manually use the cart. The closes I got was glitching him from the slime river into the pinball chutes, but that doesnt matter. You'll notice I discovered a neat point, where you can continue bouncing and still gain height each time, allowing access to the boss chamber with zero chaos emeralds collected. Pretty neat :D For some reason I cant locate an equivilent point on the other side, but who cares.

I'm gonna have to vote no. You didnt use the same strategy on each lap, so it's clearly not optimised enough, and you should've added bonuses to the race so you can get the speed boost.

Most of those would slow down the run though. Certain changes are made in levels depending on what star you're at, so you cant simply do the stars in whatever order you want.

I think there should be 2 categories, minimalist run and 100%. The 100% should do both the secret levels and unlock all cheats, where as the other can simply breeze through the game on agent.
