Scream the name of the encoder you like best and I'll tally them up when the TASer awards are done. Just simply list a single encoder that did work in 2010. What's the prize? Eh, nothing really special. I'll pay for a commission of the winners choice from Flacko if you want, in T-shirt form! But there is no trophies. If the winner rejects the prize, runner up gets it. Why am I doing this? Because I got nothing better in life to do. :D 'Others' tally: Edit: You can't vote for two people at once, I should have made that clear initially. Edit 2: Added poll... previous results are irrelevant.

Considering I'm going to be away from my encoding PC for over a week (as of now), I can't make one. I can try and teach Irdoh how to blend frames the way I do, however, if you want. Or, alternatively, Mister Epic could do it (I don't know if he's ever tried the splice-decimate-splice-blend method, however). I know Aktan won't make the encode, because of his animosity towards YouTube.

Hi, I'd like to use this somewhat suggestive avatar to express my opinion of what the current time and date is in Australia.

Gah, everyone seems to be able to sync this game but me! It's worth noting that the script you're deriving from is outdated anyway, I use a different script for encoding nowadays anyway... though, admittedly, it's actually far looser. Also, thanks for improving the screenshot! And the advice. I'm clearly losing my touch, heh.

Because every encoder has a different opinion about how the subtitles and logo should be done. It may also have to do with the fact that people may prefer one method of encoding over the other. For example, I prefer logos the style I've got mine in... obviously. I also prefer more flexible positions for subtitles that don't blast themselves into your face or obtrude moving player characters. Something that other encoders don't tend to take note of. It's basically a matter of people preferring ones persons method of encoding over an others. In the end, the publisher has to choose what encode to use anyway. And I will admit that, when I was still publisher, I'd actually sometimes reencode movies because I disliked the fact that they were lossily encoded (I reencoded with some very tough lossless scripts), though, that childish behavior wore off by the end my carrier. What would be very helpful is if people actually posted what sort of x264 scripts they used for specific encodes (Instead of having to download the MKV and open it up in Mediainfo). I've also taken note that certain encoders will lean towards looser scripts than other encoders (For example, in HD encoding, mmarks uses a very barebones script that doesn't actually bother to squeeze down the filesize, generally ending up 4-8 times the size of a similar lossless encode. I, however, used an SD encoding script on my HD encodes, which does seem a bit overkill, but it generally halves the overall MKV size of the encode compared to mmarks's encodes). Basically, this is all because the encoders at TASVideos have huge egos and want things done their way, whatsoever. We've also taken to not using Archive.org anymore, unless it's confirmed for Publication. I've actually been considering getting my own personal file host to circumvent this, so that I can have a single reliable host that is usable for the published torrents, publications, and can also be used before the movie is actually published when the encode is posted in the thread. When combined with Archive.org, I view this as being a very robust way of increasing torrent speeds, due to the additional HTTP seeds. It also allows people to have multiple options for downloading the MKV files. Just take note that my opinions do not represent the opinions of the site as a whole, and I'd like to keep it that way. I know full well that the administrative team will disagree strongly with some opinions that I have presented in this post.

YouTubed. I request that mmarks's edition be embedded and published instead, however, since he placed dibs.

Mediafire downloadable HD encode being made upon request, will also make SD encode if no one does it before me. Hit syncing issues that I cannot figure out how to fix. Optimized screenshot:

Just as a note, I'm also chucking up my own HD encode. Yay, new computer is absurd amounts of Hard Drive space! Edit: And the movie desynced on me. Edit 2: Redumping... with the CamStudio codec. The CamStudio codec works!

Note that H.264 lossless isn't truly lossless because it has lower chroma resolution. Not a big issue if you are not going to resize it, but if you are, the result is going to be quite bad. If you are looking at resizing the result, use some type of lossless RGB codec (FFV1, Lagarith, Camstudio or even uncompressed) when dumping.
We would prefer that you dump to RGB anyway, so that more advanced YV12 reduction algorithms can be used.

The issue is in sample rate. Set SNES9x to 44kHz or 48kHz. That should fix the sync issues.

YouTube HD HD download mmarks, in future, please don't Archive.org new movies... it's against site policy.

mmarks... I have some advice for you. Please don't HD encode this game. I won't HD encode it either. DarkKobold has actually had issues with Sony placing advertising on his WIPs and getting copyright strikes against his account due to the music that this game contains. An upload to Dailymotion should get you by, however.

How many times do I have to HD encode this game?

If anyone can manage to HD encode this in a single part, I salute them. Mister Epic, get that Fiber Optic connection ready to be locked and loaded, you're going to need it.

Cats puke is more appetizing than this game. I give a Yes vote for the duo's ability to somehow get the courage to improve a TAS of this game. SD download HD download

They probably don't have an easily-articulated algorithm for describing the accept/reject rules. I'd bet it includes bitrate, overall file size, and the amount of work they'd have to do to re-encode the file. This is not something you can easily describe to the average uploader, so they simply don't bother. That, and this way they're free to change the rules behind the scenes.
The file I uploaded was 100 megabytes big. :p Once again, TASVideos > YouTube.

Relevant post below, even more relevant here.
I truly regret to inform everyone but Patrick Parent (ZeXr0) passed away on November 7, 2010 due to complications in the heart transplant he had receieved 2 days earlier. Patrick had been a regular in irc.darkmyst.org#sf2hack up until his operation and personally I was chatting with him for at least an hour every day - he was a really great guy to talk with. Patrick was incredibly optimistic until the end as can be seen from a conversation in irc.freenode.org#tasvideos: ZeXr0: HEY EVERYONE, IT'S TODAY THAT I'M GOING TO HAVE MY NEW HEART Unfortunately Patrick never returned to irc and the only way I have found this information was because recently I had started to worry because Patrick had been missing for so long. Even though heart surgery must be exhausting I assumed he would have logged on even if just for 10 minutes to say hi and let us know everything was a success... I simply hoped for the best. But this morning Flygon inquired about ZeXr0 once again and I decided I must know as it had been too long since I'd heard from ZeXr0... I knew enough details about ZeXr0 that an internet search confirmed he had passed. A site has been setup in memory of Patrick Parent which you can visit: http://www.patrickparent.ca/
Rest In Peace... I loved you as a friend, mate. I knew ya for years.
