Link to video Not bad! Yes vote. ... I'd add more comment about the run, but I don't have anything to say, it's clearly optimized and while the entertainment was average, it was a clearly good run. Also, hope no one minds the blur, this is the first video I've successfully uploaded that uses 30fps down-conversion (Apart from MURDERA, but that isn't a TAS).

It's probably the method of which Mister Epic uses frame dropping in his encodes. I suggest using a more advanced player. While, personally, I don't agree with the methods of which his encodes implement duplicate frame dropping, it's still publishable, even despite potential compatibility issues. zem, do you have any problems trying to play back encodes I make?

Somari was rejected more for optimization purposes, not just game choice/that it was a hack. Though, I guess it's opinionated as to precisely why it was rejected. I should probably get around to optimizing it at some point.

Just to clarify, is this the same game as Bonk III - Bonk's Big Adventure? It is the only variant of the game I have been able to find, and I am uncertain if you might have made a mistake or not... The site is terrible at platform detection. Attempting to HD encode, but this might be very difficult to do, due to the 30fps reduction being vital for this game (The blur induced is codec poison in its own right) doing this at 60fps, sorry guys.

It was a nice run, a bit slow paced, but clearly optimized. I don't really have anything much to say... it's basically a good run but not particularly remarkable. A weak Yes vote will suffice, an SD and HD encode is coming up.

... That Samus one is just freaking insane! By the way... er, don't take this question as a joke. How much can I pay to get a spot in this TAS? It'd be nice to get a commission from someone that uses non-standard tools.

And people wonder why I use Deldup in direct264. See, this is why I keep endorsing the use of direct264's Deldup people, less compatibility issues.

Undie... uh, I highly recommend you pop into the IRC channel. There is mutliple issues with the encode that really should be addressed. The primary ones being the display configuration in FCEUX itself and subtitling. For contrast, Noob Irdoh's encode displays far better accordance with the guidelines. To boot, the audio and video quality is also higher. Also, please link to the image, people don't appreciate massive images being posted inside threads, it's common courtesy to link to such an image instead.

It was mostly a wasteland of grey and marathon walk. Yes vote for improving another one of TASVideos's boring yet amusing marathons! Happily encoding in HD.

Not bad. Whipping up a HD encode. I can't say the bonus stage TAS's particularly excite me, but they do have technical merit. Yes vote.

Encoding speed, or tools?
Encoding speed and Hard Drive space, actually. Encoding on just 20 gigabytes isn't exactly the worlds simplest task. This is why I'm constantly saying that the other publishers seem to wildly overshadow me.

Decimating the fps on site would reduce the bitrate (Something I actually need to get to doing, I admit), but blending, due to the inherent blur, will increase the bitrate because the imagery becomes a hellava lot more complex.

If we're going to adapt (probably downgrade) our bitrate to the maximum that YouTube can handle, why are we still encoding in 60 FPS instead of 30?
We probably won't downgrade the bitrate due to the fact that most HD movies we make are far below 30mbits, even at peak. Da Aztex! is simply a very unusual exception to the rule. The reason (Well, I, anyway) encode at 60fps is because I lack the computational resources to make a blended 30fps movie, and the bitrate would actually be significantly higher with blending, which makes it impossible for me to upload the movie due to being stuck on 384kbits upload ADSL, if you want to pay for a 896kbits upload connection, be my guest... it'd be great, hehehe. That, and blending isn't appropriate for games that don't use flicker effects.

Link to video The video file I uploaded was 775 megabytes (For just 59 seconds!), and needed every single megabit per second in order to have decent quality. But even at 1080p (Where the bitrate is almost purposely limited to 30 megabits by the YouTube transcoder, it's also worth nothing that this doesn't have Original mode due to the mode not existing at the time of upload), there is still major quality issues. So, yes, unfortunately, YouTube isn't perfect, but we try to squeeze as much out of it as we can. The point? Uh... well... we like to feed YouTube extremely high quality videos. That, and to get HD videos for games such as Sonic 3 and Knuckles, you need to break 1 gigabytes per segment, or else YouTube simply won't have good enough quality material to transcode for Original mode. It's worth noting that a TODO of mine is finding out the maximum bitrate of Original mode to find out what the max effective bitrate should be for HD encodes.

It's the only uploader I use (All the others are too unreliable for 100mb+ movies). Let me dispel two one myths, there is a filesize limit, 20 gigabytes a file, and there is still a 15 minute time limit whatsoever. Edit: Dang you post fast. So unfortunately, I'm as uninteresting as ever.

Short and sweet, clearly optimized, etcetera. The way you just walked through everything without getting hurt was marvelous. Yes voted and HD encoding. Important note to encoders: The audio doesn't dump when using the default AVI audio dumping, you must use the emulators internal WAV dumper to get a sound dump. It's also worth noting that this game runs at 59.918fps, so keep that in mind when syncing the audio and video.

I salute the encoders whom sacrifice their CPUs towards these causes. *insert image of me saluting here*

Sure, why not Yes vote. Twas fast and entertaining. It's worth nothing that the YouTube upload truncates the credits, this is due to the fact that including them breaks the 15:00 limit... and that nothing particularly interesting was past there anyway. But for those that really want the score screen, a screenshot is below:
