A lot of people have been complaining that my encodes are in HD when the systems they are encoding for are not capable of producing images of that resolution. What should be done about this?
Point out it'd look like ass if we kept it at native resolution and let YouTube handle as is.

Can I seriously ask, as a member, for you two to move the discussion to PM or another topic? It's getting a bit annoying to check up on this topic and see arguments about multiculturalism going on here.

Yes, this is why it'd require cooperation from emulator authors. To cut out the parts of the sprites that are suppose to be hidden. The method runs into problems regardless, though, for games that use sprites as background objects (Such as Sonic 3 and Knuckles). I knew pretty much immediately that blending only certain sprites is completely game dependent. This encoding stuff is what I think of while I'm at TAFE and browsing either Cracked or TVTropes.

I came up with this idea earlier. My idea involved dumping 32-bit PNG image strips of every layer and then blending the ones when appropriate manually. It isn't perfect, but it's better than doing the whole frame. This, of course, requires cooperation with emulator authors, but none will be interested.

There's a difference between $100 and $5,000.

afaik there are only usa/pal and japanese roms on the internrt and a ton of fan translations and hacks
I'll have to change that, then. Nothing like rallying interested members to gather up spare money, get a $100 copy off eBay, and then dump for the sake of preservation. To a different forum!

Reading this just brings another contrast to how Australian politics is to America... here, he'd be seen as Conservative regardless.

Cue debate in 3... 2... 1... I reckon it doesn't, even if you did do whatever the heck you wanted, you'd still get consequences for it or just be plumb unable to do it. You can't just fly at a flick of a finger. Granted, I'm stretching the barrier a bit here... but essentially, I doubt free thought exists. I'm not saying it's impossible, but to me, everything happens due to the consequences of something else happening, like a random number generator.

Everyone's a victim in a game. You're a puppet, the opponent is a puppet, and in the end, everyone is being forced to do things that they may or may not want to do. Think on that for a second there. Does free will exist?

(OTOH, why am I worrying? I don't live in the US...)
Because, ultimately, what happens in the US affects other countries due to the US's sheer dominance. That, and you might have friends in the US that you might care very deeply about, I sure as hell do. For example, I'd hate to see BrandonE convicted for something that happened to him unjustly, even though he's not Australian. Besides, you wouldn't have said that about the US and Russia during the Cold War, despite the fact you're in neither country.

I thought it was the point to be quicker? Like I said in the first post, the run would start clean, with getting the save data as part of the run itself.
Ultimately, it's to see a game played as if God himself were playing. So usually that means that the game should be the hardest possible to provide the most entertainment. As another hypothetical for you: If one of these old save bonuses you're talking about gave you an extreme advantage (i.e. a Kill everything gun in an FPS, or a kickass magic spell in an RPG), would you really want to do a run with that extra benefit added on?
How about making the publication be for two games in one. One game being the base game that creates the .srm file required for the successor game to use. I think such a subject could be very interesting.

I am a man for few words, but that was a fucking fantastic read, good sir. I am glad I read through it all, and find the subject matter intriguing. I'll whack this off to my friends.

I don't see any ferrets. All I see is a cheap, furry-made knockoff called a flurret.
I'm a cheap furry knockoff of Jesus, thank you very much.

That, or it's an elaborate plot to make everyone convert to a much more sensible fuel, Hydrogen. Or create Nuclear Powered Steam Trains (I'm being 100% serious here, there's a reason Nuclear Submarines are Steam Powered). Granted, you'd need a shitload of armor on that train...

And then Americans complain about high fuel prices.
Australian's would find it hilarious if we could afford it without winging about how the expensive petrol prices are biting into food. *cough*

It's less lying and more pointing out that the Diesel and Unleaded prices vary independently in Australia and tend to be cheaper than one or the other at various times.
