Who doesn't like a little Quantum Disco? (Small NSFW segment in the middle) I finally got Nestopia to work correctly in its AVI dumping.

Wait, so this is actually going to obsolete a single-game input movie? Or will they still remain completely segregated, in terms of site based obsoletation?

Just a question... is this topic still able to be reliably updated? fietclub hasn't made a post in over half a year, and, well... yeah. If this topic isn't going to be reliably updated, I do question if it should still be kept up, perhaps replaced by a user that is still active? That, and I've been planning on making a topic advertising TASVideos's brand new Steam group, but it's difficult with this stagnant topic still existing.

I liked Helium enough to encode it in 1080p HD... so, yeah. Now if NES based demos didn't crash FCEUX, I'd put those up too (Nintendulator ends up crashing when dumping the AVI, so, yeah).

Added 29/05/10 - 05/06/10. It's worth noting that I've recently uploaded the demo Helium to my YouTube channel, it shouldn't affect the insight results too much, but it's worth accounting for. I might be uploading more 'HD' demos in the future... so... yeah. Just out of interest, is anyone ever really going to be using these statistics for their own use? I'm happy to give out specific statistics on demand for people curious about how my channel has been going in recent history (Such as getting dates on when a video has been hot, and when it has been not).

Velitha, there is a reason I didn't publish GGG's encode, there is 8 pixel borders on the top and bottom... this movie needs to be re-encoded to be retained within the proper guidelines.

I also choose Crudbud, because this topic is beginning to annoy me.

Obvious improvement, encoding in HD (I get ADSL this weekend). Yes vote. Edit: Dailymotion HD The YouTube upload failed, I'll reattempt it soon.

I actually use alden's mario paint script to get some hawt pix of ladies stored there for future use. There is nothing more sensual than watching a naked lady be drawn one pixel at a time. :3~~
I prefer methods using Art Alive!, what's better then seeing art come alive right before your eyes?... with Blast Processing!

Don't worry, there is no such word as "contributer", so naturally you wouldn't be one. :)
Contributer is adelikat's brand new super computer that contributes to TASVideos' projects.
That explains adelikat's odd behavior as of late!

I've asked Ilari a while ago about running 98 or ME in JPC-RR, it doesn't work, apparently.

Holy hell that was fast... obvious yes vote. Encoding in SD because this game is monochrome and pretty... well, actually, I'm just hoping this can be kept inside a reasonable filesize for a dial-up connection. Suggested optimized screenshot:

I am an idiot. If an admin could rename the input file for me, it'd be pretty cool.

I'd personally suggest never putting the keyint above 600, I use VLC as my testbed for video encoding... and I even get some minor issues with that amount, depending on the game. Anything higher and I'm very certain that the risk of seeking issues in that player heighten significantly. I know VLC is terrible, but unfortunately, other people use it for some obscene reason, so I end up using it myself.

From what you're describing, the encode you uploaded was lossless. Encode the video into a lossy format instead, I suggest using a quality quantizer rating of 20 inside ffdshow.

If you don't want to use a personal client, you can just use online Webchat client. Some more information regarding the IRC channel can be found here.

Hm... perhaps a losslessly compressed H.264 file should be supplied and an encoder decompresses it on his or her own end? It's not the most efficient method, but at least it makes sense, filesize wise.

This might sound odd, but can I actually suggest compressing the raw to inside of a highly compressed 7z file, without the audio stream inside it? Assuming it is an uncompressed raw, I'm reasonably sure it'll compress to a manageable size that'll fit in Mediafire's restrictions.

Thank you, thank you, thank you! I just cannot thank you enough for making these tests! I fully admit being too lazy to make them myself, and... well... thank you! Just a question, what exact section are you testing this on, a running section with the parallax scrolling? I'd check so myself... but, well, I actually lack a Shadow of the Beast encode on me, and lack of any decent net access isn't helping me. Also, uploading the raw to somewhere like Mediafire will be extremely helpful test material for other encoders to use with other scripts. I really can't thank you enough for this, seriously. Also, we want you in the IRC channel, seriously, you're amazing, I love your Mario Paint works, I love your encoding works, and you're generally too awesome to not be in the TASVideos IRC channel.

We should probably take this to IRC and beat you to death in there let this topic for people that have actually watched the run. Actually, I thought it was a decent game... but that's about it, decent. Half the reason I hate it so much is because it just absolutely pales in comparison to the original game... especially the soundtrack, the soundtrack of the GBA version is just murder to my ears...

No, never ever, RotDD just doesn't exist, nada, never will. There is good reason it shall never exist.

I will admit that the value, for a normal movie, is very excessive, but the point really is just to chop down the filesize as much as possible. I just use it because I'm patient with how long it takes to encode movies (I am happy to wait at 1.5fps for a NES game to encode), but I will admit that a merange of 64 does make more sense for more advanced consoles. I do know that not many game have enough motion to really require such a high value... but, well, it does cut down some size either way. I should probably make a proof of example encode with the Chessmasters game that's currently on the workbench, for comparing the various meranges on an incredibly basic game (However much so basic is an overstatement). That, and such tests are extremely dial-up friendly, heh.

About the merange, as far as I am aware, it actually caps off at 256 for NES games... I just put it at 512 because I like powers of two and that it works well for extremely basic Mega Drive games (Where it caps off at 320). Basically, from what I recall, it's pixel based. I felt I should clear this up, just in case.
