It's just a horrible conversion, music side. It got the melody, but I would expect it to sync out quite quickly with the 'real' thing. Green Hill Zone is possibly the worst conversion out of all the ported songs, it's actually missing multiple segments.

2. Laptop drive. Will save a lot of battery, drastically improve speeds, and decrease the amount of moving parts, which is very good. Disadvantage: needs to be larger (below 128 GB just won't cut it, and I'd rather have 256+) and less expensive.
You'll be disappointed with me then. I get away perfectly fine with just 160gb total space, you just need to manage it well.

Speaking and understanding it is much harder than being able to read and write it.
I'd imagine it'd be harder to actually write English then to speak it... But let's not derail this thread any further, let is continue discussing our gods NES TASers in relevance to this poll.

This sounds completely wrong. I have seen your first posts on TASVideos, and compared to those, your current level of English is really good. I'd even go as far as to say it's on par with many native speakers here. You have made amazing progress even if it doesn't look like that from your own standpoint. :)
I agree completely. I dare even say you actually speak better English than I do! Edit:
<erokky> Was "then" intentional? <Fluffygon> No <Fluffygon> I really am that bad at English xD
Case in point.

I don't use AdBlock... but I always find myself completely ignoring ads anyway. When you've been living in a state of being unable to buy anything you want for your whole life (Especially via the Internet), you kind of tune out to advertisements shoving goods in your face. Basically, I doubt you'll be able to make the ads more relevant to me, sorry. Edit: "Nokia Ovi Photo Storage" is kind of pointless if I use a free service called 'imageshack.us', incidentally. Yes, I just peeked at an ad, to be met with disappointment. =P

I don't think it's that, some of the pauses were required to manipulate a global timer, essentially, luck manipulation if you wanted to call it so, unless we're thinking of two different things. For example, in Labyrinth Zone 1, jumping right into the 'rush tunnel' would have been slower simply because the timer would have pushed him into the walls.

I know, but for all intents and purposes (Sticking inside a widely compatible codec that has no loss to the normal customer), it works as lossless.

It was sold in Taiwan from at least 1994ish.

Lossless would be good, but only if it doesn't make the video file humongously large and/or require an obscure codec (possibly available for a limited amount of systems/players).
There is a lossless variant of H.264 that works with any recent installation of ffdshow, we already have several runs published under it (Such as Little Master or Urban Champion if I recall correctly).

On a less negative note: Here, have a higher quality encode. Having personally helped work on the game, I can say this... the physics are almost impossible to work with to create any style out of, as are the timers. And yes, I agree, Labyrinth Zone 1 and 3 are terrible (Sheerly because of how impossible it is to go above 2px speed), but I don't see them as sheer reasoning to not publish the run, I thought the other Zones were fairy good and hasty.

DailyMotion (Excuse the quality, DailyMotion... is incapable of processing Somari with any decent quality) Archive.org I'm reencoding it into even higher quality settings, but unless the improvements aren't significant (For the file size actually becomes smaller), consider this the final encode.

The game isn't copyrighted, so, we can't get banned for spreading a 512kb file around now, can we. <3

I vote Yes. I will be back... with an encode, and a suggested screenshot. true said the grounder stomping, I say the Labyrinth glitch... decisions, decisions. Glitch: Grounder: Coming soon! Already optimized. Archive.org (Still encoding) DailyMotion (Still uploading) For those wondering, I'm chucking a lossless version of the encode to DailyMotion, which encodes much faster.

Image I'll used to publish with if this whole 'improvement fiasco' can be sorted out. I suck at screenshot finding in VLC (VDub can't open MP4s).

You do realize I submitted that 2010, don't you? I'm very amused (And would be even more amused if the award was won for the 2010 awards), but I don't see it happening.

adelikat has discussed something of importance on the IRC channel. The sites torrents. As you may have noticed, every single published TAS is now watchable via a video streaming website, and in many cases, the video websites have actually had higher quality encoding techniques (Mostly in relation to bitrate) then the actual published encodes. Also keep in mind we also have the very reliable Archive.org to download from. We wish to ask this, do you want published encodes to be made under more lenient circumstances? For example, rather then a bitrate of 350 for Sonic the Hedgehog (Mega Drive) causing lossy artifacts, we double it and eliminate the issues while creating a larger file? Or stick to the small filesize? The ask this because we have gotten to the point that for 'perfect' quality, we've wound up with some games massively overblowing the 4 to 1 ratio, in Crash Bandicoots case, it has almost exceeded 12 to 1 for 'perfect' quality. So we ask you, the audience, how do you wish that future encodes on TASVideos.org be processed?

I've figured out how to logocombine the AVI, I'm now going to make an encode, it will not be inside the 4 to 1 ratio but it will be very high quality and alleviate many of the issues related to the colour space. I've done this by doubling the resolution of the video.

Grunt, I just made an encode that is 300kb smaller then yours, has better video quality (The bitrates are different, but mine used different encoding techniques as well) and has twice the audio bitrate (Yours was 45, mine is 80). I'll want to discuss with you tomorrow morning about tougher encoding scripts, it's slower to encode but trust me, it really crunches down the filesize. Thank Raiscan. Archive.org download DailyMotion Edit: The script if anyone else is interested
