I'm guessing this is just footage of him playing the game for 2 minutes...? I don't think this guy knows this is a speedrunning website.
TASvideos timing is wrong. Actually, this was played by 23 minutes. But it seems this indeed isn't a TAS that follows the site rules.
blame the fact that it's a pre-4.0 movie file :V

For those who run into the issue with RAM being eaten up by savestates, can you try this PR out? https://github.com/dolphin-emu/dolphin/pull/3535 EDIT: https://dolphin-emu.org/download/dev/e455ca4d58a7fd398091524e8a270ba81880dfa5/ Merged as of 4.0-8735. Savestates no longer eat RAM like Chrome.

To be honest, you should try to optimize this before submitting. This is a game that is going to end up in the Vault, so as it stands now, this is going to be rejected for being sloppy. I would put the usual "Welcome to TASVideos <username>" speech here, but I think everyone should know the rules of this site.
I agree with this.

I just can't see how this would obsolete the existing game end glitch run, the gameplay is similar but the goals are definitely not the same. Yes vote.

Thanks for the answer, I mistakenly thought the audio was out of sync. A related question, I noticed a pull request relating to AVI dumping, specifically in build 4.0-8572. Does this mean that AVI dumping in Windows is fixed?
That build just included the library and include files to make the changes easier to implement. I do have a pull request up here which has the changes needed.

Is it possible to get an accurate video and audio dump of a Wii DTM on Windows? I had tested several runs off of this site, and the audio gets out of sync. It's not limited to just one specific build, in fact the sync issue happens even with the non-deprecated builds. I'm open to any suggestions, even the most simple.
It's not the audio going out of sync, it's the video. It should work without issue on Linux because of the APIs being used. I'm slowly but surely working on using the same ffmpeg APIs on Windows.

Using Dolphin 4.0 x64 build 8311. I did a 5-min dump, like Video Dumping guide says, but, as a result, my dspdump was 2,27 seconds longer + the last video part had the same frame at the beginning and in the end. The situation is the same as thecoreyburton had. Seems like the video and audio are recorded at different speeds! Wouldn't it be easier to combine the video and audio recording into a single file? Can it solve any problem?
The eventual plan is to have everything combined into a single file.

The way TASes are usually done is by using savestates and frame advance (and other more advanced tools). Unfortunately, consoles don't provide these kinds of tools. You can play back input by feeding it a movie file made on an emulator on consoles, but it's not going to be guaranteed to sync. However, you can do segmented runs on consoles. Segmented runs being the use of saving and loading game saves, and recording each part separately before putting it all together in video editing software. It's not going to be as precise as a TAS, but it's about the best you can do with what's available.

This happens literally everywhere. Why is it any different here?

Also, the fact that the mGBA core is outdated. BizHawk is running 0.2.0 it's now at 0.3.1 so there is a possibility that the issue you're having may have been fixed.
I was curious about that. How did you check which version is used?
I've attempted to make natt aware of the outdated mGBA (endrift had also tried before too)

It would be awesome if Dolphin had its own ram watch. Cheat Engine is such a pain to use to try and track down values and keep them synced (using pointers)
Something is being worked on, but I don't know the status of it.

ANOTHER UPDATE: because of the news about deprecating old Dolphin runs, I'm forced to restart this big project on a newer Dolphin version... the problem about that is that no other version besides 4.0.2 and 4.0-146 works on my shitty ass PC, so I'm basically fucked. I can't afford a new PC, so don't even bring that up. My only other alternative is to continue on 4.0.2, but I don't know how that will turn out...
It's clear you've been working on the run long before the announcement. You'll get a continuance. Just keep goin', yo.
You're fine to continue your run

After careful consideration and deliberation, we've decided that all versions of Dolphin prior to 4.0-3595 are to be considered deprecated. In the future, we will no longer accept runs from these earlier Dolphin versions. If you have already started a project with earlier versions of Dolphin, we will allow these to be completed and submitted without issue. For those planning to create new TASes with Dolphin, please use versions of Dolphin greater than 4.0-3595.

I was planning on publishing it but because of the length of the game and the free space on my HDD I'm not able to do a HQ dump of it.

I really hope Fog's FFMPEG dumping feature makes it into the 5.0 release. Then there'd be no issue with the AVSync on windows (thanks to vfw) any more and we could put the whole thing behind us.
It's unlikely to be ready for 5.0. I'm still tinkering with various formats and codecs and whatnot.

Hmm, few questions I have regarding that clip: 1) What version of dolphin are you using? 2) Does this speedup happen for other games? If using a newer version of Dolphin, I have a Pull Request which adds back the hold to frame advance hotkey (and some speed configurations). I can look into the issue later if it's a recent version of Dolphin in terms of speed.
