Link to video It's kinda lame that this teaser doesn't showcase any e-card features.

The original Mother was finally released as EarthBound Beginnings outside of Japan on June 14 for VC on Wii U, but I'm sure they just recycled the unreleased EarthBound Zero rom. Since the rom probably needs to be hacked for e+ features to be there by default, there is a chance that they will do it for VC release outside of Japan too. Time will tell.

http://nintendoeverything.com/super-mario-advance-4-super-mario-bros-3s-wii-u-vc-release-will-support-e-reader-levels/ Good news, I guess? Don't know if it's possible to extract the rom from Wii U VC files at this point in time.

This question may not be too relevant to this topic, but does the emulator support switching slot2 roms in movie files? It's necessary to switch the the rom in slot2 to fight all MMZ3&4 bosses in MMZX.

A question, would this run be a separate branch of Sonic 2, or obsolete the current one? After all, it's faster by a few seconds. Yes vote to whatever run comes out of this and WST's collab.
This is a different game in essence.

I'll watch the encode first. If Mario gets 99 lives, I'll vote yes. ...No, just kidding. This is a guaranteed yes vote. Good job, guys!

Sorry to break the mood, but... is it even meaningful to talk about waiting for one year when current version of hourglass doesn't work with Undertale, there is no clue when the next version of hourglass will come out, and no one has shown the determination to actually work around with all the obstacles to make a TAS for a Windows game? :P I don't think any of the currently published Windows are done, or even started within a year of the game's release.

This is exactly what I was thinking. Probably because I rarely let the demo sequence play to the end. :/

Link to video A TAS of Chrono Cross Demo. Will it be more valid than #3537: arukAdo's PSX Castlevania: Symphony of the Night "E3 Version" in 11:58.82? The game play is considerably different from the finished game.

Very interesting; all this makes Platinum the second case where a "third version" game any% run features a completely different route than the primary paired versions. Might we see a Platinum TAS WIP in the pipeline?
Probably not in a while. I still don't know whether catching Moltres is faster than using the starter all the way to the end.

how does it fare against the other runs?i like how overleveled you are so far.
It's much slower than that Japanese run primarily due to text difference. There isn't another glitchless English run that I know of so it's hard to compare.

With that said, should that type of run merge with the any% like how pokemon gold/silver does?
Probably. I found another potentially useful tweaking spot in Platinum: Link to video Breaking into Pal Park enable you to make Oak appear in Eterna City earlier. Talking to him there should make Kanto legendary birds start to roam. I tried to tweak all the way to Route 220 without using surf, but got stuck over there. Therefore you can't go to Pal Park without getting surf in Celestic Town. It's probably not worthy to go all the way to Pal Park and catch one of the Kanto birds at this point.

I did some tests on tweaking in Platinum with MKD's lua script(http://www.speedrun.com/pkmnplat/resources). As expected, tweaking doesn't do much in this game. However, there are two spots where it helps a lot. Even if they are the only spots tweaking works, it's worthy. I don't know if someone has posted this before, but I'll leave it here anyway. Link to video Sunyshore guard skip. You can access the 8th gym much earlier. Please note that you can't get to Pokemon League without using Surf, Strength, and Rock Climb, which means getting all the badges are still required to beat the game. This allows you to skip the final battles against Team Galactic though. Link to video Nationaldex check skip. You can access the rest of Battle Zone without complete Sinnoh Pokedex. This pretty much means an any% round 2 speedrun would have the same pre-Elite 4 content as an any% one does. There is another tweak that fails in the end but produces phenomenon. Link to video It's still impossible to skip Psyducks on Route 210, but the player can walk through one of the Psyducks after the map is reloaded.

http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm24493412 My bias comes from here. BTW, this run doesn't seem to use any kind of Attack boosts. I suppose the author of this run picks Piplup because Bubble and Surf can hit both opponents at once in double battles, which happen sort of often(compared to R/S, that is). One of the major advantages of Kadabra I have found out is that it OHKOs Gyarados, which is a pain in the as* for all starters.

Glitchless, which I presume excludes using minor tweaking ones, would be rather long, but I can't tell yet if it would be worth watching yet. I'll wait for progress. Also not exactly related, but in Platinum, after beating the Stark Mountain storyline, the E4's levels increase. I would like to see a run of that which uses all glitches known one day.
I actually thought about a glitchless Platinum round 2 run. You can't get there without beating the game once since the void doesn't work in Platinum. Completing Sinnoh-dex would also make the pre-Elite 4 part very different. An any% Platinum run with minor tweaking glitch should be quite different from glitchless D/P run though.

I thought Piplup is faster for TAS since Quick Claw makes speed unimportant.

Link to video http://tasvideos.org/userfiles/info/26579427510741237 I started a glitchless test-run for Pokemon Diamond. This WIP contains the first hour of the game, up to the second rival fight. https://kb.speeddemosarchive.com/Pok%C3%A9mon_Diamond/Pearl/Platinum I'm using the Abra/Kadabra from in-game-trading as the main battle Pokemon. The purpose of this test-run is to see if this route is actually faster than using Piplup. It's hard to compare though since there isn't another glithless English D/P TAS AFAIK. As you can easily see, the luck-manipulation is terrible and I didn't pick IVs and natures for Turtwig and Machop. The Abra from trading has set IVs and nature so the initial RNG seed doesn't matter too much after the first gym.
