Also, it may not seem like much at first, but I imagine it'll all add up after time: Be sure to head in the general direction of where you'll be going when you're walking around... I'm not sure how else to put this, so I'll draw a diagram: 1 2 3 4 Ok, you're going from room 2 to room 3, and in order to do that, you'll need to go through room 4. While going down from 2 to 4, be sure to head towards the lower left hand side of room 2, that'll make the trip through room 4 very short, especially if you don't need to pick up something from room 4. I imagine all those seconds will eventually add up, so I figure I'd throw out this suggestion before you get too far.

^^^^^ Fooled me there... I quietly followed the making of this movie and was one of the many who eagerly awaited each updated short movie Viper released. I loved the final video and was amazed by a large part of it.

Too bad, this is a great game that will kill the encoding codec ;)
Yeah, this game is way sweet. I think it was the music more than the gameplay that did it for I, though. I'll look around gameFAQs and any other sites people suggest to I for a good route to take and good boss strategies. I think with FCEU I would have more success with a run than my previous attempt with Famtasia. I just like the way FCEU is laid out, is all...

It's been attempted. I started the topic last time long ago, but the person who gave it a shot had the video desync pretty far into it, and instead of hex editing it (which he didn't know how to do), I think he just gave up. I did try this at one point, though. Got to about the third (maybe second) corridor. I guess with some help I could give it another shot, although I don't know if there is high demand for a game this long. It would look neat to those who have played it, though. Here's the thread in question: http://tasvideos.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1017&highlight=guardian+legend

I really enjoyed this movie. I think what makes me enjoy it more is some of the more subtle things nitsuja does, which is something I wish more people did in their movies. For example, after beating a boss, s/he would just jump around and then before the screen would freeze, Jerry would be in an amusing pose somewhere on the screen. Not sure if this was intentional, but it made me smile and enjoy the movie more (not that it wasn't enjoyable to begin with ^_^)

I really enjoyed this movie. I was looking forward to watching the completed version, and, as mentioned earlier (a sentence ago), I enjoyed it... thus, I voted yes. And I got my name mentioned! <3 ^_^

Using it as a model, what changes would be made, other than no blue mail?
My guess would be more percise movement, and I imagine a lot more time would be saved from not getting hit, although the run by TSA was absolutely wonderful to watch : ) Also, with the possibility to manipulate what items one gets from defeated enemies, it could save a little bit of time picking up the items you need as you go, rather than going out of one's way to pick them up.

Edit: Link fixed, still love the run ^_^ Edit 2: Question time... Why don't you have Crono use his slash or cyclone technique against the giant skeleton guy at the end of the bridge? Does it just not do as much damage as normal attacks? It seems as though you were trying to save your character's MP, but if one of them gets drained of it at the end of the battle anyway, and if it's possible to manipulate who gets drained, what's the point of saving it all up (if that's what you're doing in the first place)? Thanks ^_^

Another mysterious "no" vote without an explanation. Is it possible, software wise, to require a comment with each vote? Especially the "no" votes?
I don't know (tee hee) about the software question, but personally I think anyone who votes "no" without explaining why or even admitting to the vote makes their vote somewhat invalid. Voting "no" without a reasonable and constructive explaination makes it seem like the vote is made out of spite, which is ridiculous. I cannot think of an example where something good came out of voting "no" without an explaination. Every little bit of advice helps make these movies entertaining. I mean, if you're afraid of saying something on the INTERNET, then there's something wrong there. Sorry for getting off topic. As for the movie, I found it to be entertaining. Not knowing much about the game, I can't really find anything horribly wrong, so it's a yes vote from me.

"You must see my movie" is actually good too. This movie is awesome. It's rightful to be proud of good work. (Edited to help Terimakasih understand the message I was trying to convey. Thanks, Bisqwit : D )

I really enjoyed this video, moreso than the older version, which I ended up turning off 2 minutes into it. This version kept me entertained throughout the whole game and was clearly the product of better planning by Arc, whose game script I really enjoyed. I've watched it several times since I downloaded it, and I'm still entertained. The only way the ending could be more entertaining is to have a team down by 7 come up with some crazy play (several fumbles recovered by both teams, stuff like that) that scores said team 6 points with no time left. Then the kicker missed the extra point/PAT and that team loses. Something similar happened in last year's NFL season, and it still makes me laugh thinking about it. I voted yes, in case you couldn't tell by this post, heh.

The movie is looking sweet thus far. I believe the movie will become even more entertaining in the last few chapters, as the difficulty level of the game increases. To be honest, even though I'm a fan of this game, I was under the impression that a run of this game would be boring, mainly due to the "overworld" sections. Clearly you've proven me wrong, so keep up the good work ^_^ As for the movie, I found it interesting that, two rooms before the boss in the ghost tunnel (by the way, I never knew you could hit the boss with the yo-yo, so that was sweet), you killed all but one of the mummies. This led me to the theory that perhaps, similar to past rooms, that last mummy you killed was the only one you had to kill before the door opened up. Of course, I'm not entirely sure if this is true, as I cannot remember if this is the case, and that the few guides I've read on gamefaqs explain that one must kill all the mummies in order to pass, which was not the case in your movie. Any idea if you need to kill all of them or just one? And a more important question: If my theory is true, would killing only one, but using time to dodge the other 6 or so mummies save any time at all?

With the use of savestates, would it be able to not take damage due to knowing where the invisible ghosts will be at any given time? I know they move in set lines, as in only horizontally or only vertically, so they're not like the starfish in that sense, so would it be easy to do this? It won't look too impressive to someone who hasn't played the game, but to those who have it'll look neat, I believe. Of course, this will only work in the rooms where you don't need to kill every enemy (or a specific enemy) in order to unlock the doors.

I'm dreading the Ghost Tunnel for this exact reason...plus, isn't the boss only vulnerable to bolas or something?
Yeah, he can only be attacked by bolas due to the range they have. I'm not entire sure how fast one can throw those at one time, either.

I watched this run and found it to be very well played and a pleasure to watch. I played this game religiously as a child, so watching this was neat. I think there may be a few places in the future where time could be a factor. For example, in the level with the graveyard and the ghosts (I think it may be chapter 3, I cannot recall), you have to constantly pick up those rods to expose the ghosts. I'm only noting this because in some areas they're stuck in the walls, and you must expose them in order to kill them so the door to the next area opens up. I also cannot recall whether you need to go out of your way to pick up more rods, so someone should definately look into that. Also, at the beginning of Chapter 6, you have to navigate the sub-c though islands and a very large area to find where you must go. It is, to put it very bluntly, a pain in the ass without a map. Not sure if anyone has found one for the Chapter 6 mainland, but I figured that may be something to look into. Just thought I'd help out ^_^

I remember playing this game years ago and never being able to get past the third stage. This is very well played and I enjoyed watching this movie, so I voted yes.

I've watched the movies on this site for a few months now, and I've always thought about doing a Guardian Legend movie. I'm not entirely sure how entertaining this movie would be, and I'm not entirely sure how difficult making this movie would be (I'm guessing extremely difficult :/ ), but a movie of this game with the character not getting hit at all throughout the game would be impressive, indeed. Those who have played this game will understand what I mean. However, judging from the difficulty of this game, it may take a month or two to complete. So, should I attempt it or not? ^_^ (As a side note, I once made an attempt to make a video of this game a couple of months ago. It started out good, and I managed to get a few weapons and get to the first level boss in under 5 minutes or so (maybe under 4, my memory is a little sketchy), but my HD crashed and I got a new computer, therefore everything was gone ;/ ) Oh, and if this post isn't in the proper forum, feel free to just smack me ^_^

After lurking for about 5-6 months or so, I decided to throw in my two cents (and maybe attempt a speedrun myself) into the forum. Not that my opinion necessarily matters, but after reading all the negative feedback and the clone-ish sites being created, I just figured it'd be nice to get some positive feedback. I find these videos to be absolutely beautiful... no, seriously, I do. A lot of analogies have been thrown about, but I like to compare them to a composer creating a symphony. They think about what they want to do, write it out in the form of notes, get an orchestra together and create a masterpiece, which is what a lot of these videos are (to be fair, I haven't watched them all). Yes, I know the analogy is flawed, but that's the best way I can put it. I love the videos, and even after finding out how they were made, it gave me a greater appreciation for them. People often say perfection is boring, but in this case, its highly entertaining. Just thought the people creating these videos would like to know they're making at least one person smile :) Thanks.
