For some reason I can't watch either video. I can only listen to the audio, but the screen is blank. Can anyone tell me what happens in this video?

As a long-time fan of this game (yeah, I used to play this game to death when I was a kid), I found this run to be flawlessly executed. The route and planning seem flawless. It's cool that you made a 2-Player run, by the way. There's absolutely nothing here for me to complain about. I'd definitely vote YES if I could. Oh, right. It's a real shame that FCEU messes up the shoot 'em up stage.

I think a run of this game should be more entertaining than this. I think it should be made with these rules: - hardest difficulty - must complete all bonus stages - choose whichever character is best for doing entertaining and varied moves as that character's optimal means of attacking, which is not necessarily the fastest or most powerful character - aim for fastest time given the above restrictions
Yeah, I second that. You really should play in the hardest difficulty level, as well as completing the bonus levels as quickly as possible. Dropping off is just boring. Also, you may try to get the highest score you can get while still aiming for fastest time completion. Don't forget you can get "Fighting stance" for a few more points if you press L just before the announcer shouts "Game set!"

There's only one thing I'd rather point out now before you start the final run. Whenever you have to take a star from below, it's faster if you jump and hit Z right before touching it. It will cause Mario to immediately fall back to the ground at a higher speed, as opposed to just getting the star using a normal jump. Refer to Spezzafer's 16-star TAS, where he got the star from the toad next to the entrance to Hazy Maze Cave. Situations where you could have used this: - Jolly Roger Bay: Star #3 "Treasure of the Ocean Cave". - Jolly Roger Bay: 100-coin star. - Bob-Omb Battlefield: 100-coin star. I'm sure there were more, but those were what stood out the most to me.

Wow, this thread has been revived... >_>; It looks like they're hesitant to accept this movie, even though it has a majority of "yes" votes. Not that I can't see why, though. The game is as bizarre as it can get. Anyway, I still enjoyed the movie, for its undeniable "WTF" factor.

YES Although I can't vote yet. The run is amazing, quite a good start for the N64 TAS archive :D

Thank you! I watched the movie on Mupen and it looks great! Now here is a tip that might come in handy to cut a few frames. If you are below a star and jump to grab it, press Z just before touching it. Doing so will cause Mario to get the star, stop all upward movement, and drop immediately to the ground at butt-stomp speed, except he will not do the small mid-air flip he does before butt-stomping. Hopefully this helps.

Whoa, I knew about the screen warp bug, but I didn't know you could use it to create that massive glitch at the final boss room! Impressive! I'd vote 'yes' if I could!

Well, in my opinion the run is very well planned and executed, bordering on flawlessly. I mean, he beat the game in less than 4 minutes, that's crazy! Even more considering this is described as a very long and difficult game (both in CtrlAltDestroy's description and in the FAQs and Reviews you can find at web sites such as Gamefaqs.) Granted, this game competes with Superman 64 for the title of Worst.Game.Ever, but the speed run CtrlAltDestroy made of it couldn't be possibly done better.

Well, those soldiers you have to defeat are obviously nazis, even when it's not explicitly told in the game. Voted yes, by the way.

Super Demo World : Super Mario World :: Super Mario Bros. 2j : Super Mario Bros. Probably a futile gesture, but does someone want to contact the author and Nintendo and see if they can't get together to make a little deal? I would very much like to play this on a console.
So unlikely... Maybe there is some sort of Flash cart for the SNES. If there is, that would be your only chance to play it on real hardware (besides burning an eprom). BTW, I played that hack some time ago. It's amazing, but sometimes it gets so frustrating and unfair. The final picture with Mario and Yoshi more than makes up for it, though. >:)

A 100% run sounds interesting, too bad it will probably not include the last extra world: "Castles - Masterpiece Set"

From an esthetic standpoint, I'd say... please don't turn Yoshi into a hopping machine. It gets a bit annoying after a while IMHO. I noticed that sometimes you could have entered some doors earlier if you hadn't jumped unnecesarily just before getting in. Unless, of course, the continuous jumping and hopping is a time-saver. In that case, don't pay attention to what I've just said. Anyway, good luck!! :)

You can skip the training stage ("Welcome to Yoshi's Island") by pressing Start + Select. That will save you several seconds.
