I have started to work on a "minimalist" TAS, because I feel daring. The WIP is here (very unfinished, I know):Here.

Hey, I just found a really wierd glitch...(U+D on a door that SCROLLS the the screen UP. Don't know if it can be done with a left-facing door(L+R)) I made a movie of it, if you want to see. Note that there's TONS more experimenting to be done, so feel free to work on it. Oh, and here's a picture: And yes, I started in Hyrule Castle (before rescuing the princess) Commencing to research...

I still think that key releases should also be counted. Maybe add it as another value? (Perhaps make it optional if both are shown, or only the key presses value is shown.)
I wouldn't count key-releases as button presses by this reason: 1a. Letting the button go is not a "button press"(by definition) and b. By your method a key tap(by definition a button press (for x frames)) is 2 presses, 1 for push and 1 for release. No offense.

You sure that's the fastest way to move upward, even if there is only one wall?

-Beat Queenbee with Aeolus, he's electric
Rospark is electric as well, and Rospark can rapid-fire upwards to destroy the hive and then shoot charged shots on Queenbee herself. I think using Aeolus' sabers to destroy the hive and then air dashing upwards and firing a charged tornado to hit Queenbee is slower.

-Beat ZX with Model A, when he switches to the wall-jump attack use Atlas(she can fire upward)
I believe shooting charge shots while climbing the other wall is faster (because it doesn't need transformating) and if wall-climbing can be luck-manipulated out for moves that don't make ZX unhittable that'd be even better.

Good.
thechucknorrisofNSMB wrote:
-For all bosses, start with Mega Crush, then switch to optimal character
Given that nearly every boss battle (except the rematches) automatically reverts you to model A first, that won't be much of a problem. I don't know if that's always effective, though, since some characters (like Rospark) need the biometal meter to attack with charged attacks quicker.
thechucknorrisofNSMB wrote:

Good.
-Actually, use Deerburn's uppercut, then if there's only one wall, dash-jump with Model A, if there's two, jump between them. -Actually, now I agree with you on that one. -Well, I'm still sticking, but we can cross that bridge when we get there(solve the problem when it happens) -Vultron is neutral, it is probably best to use Model A, but let's cross that bridge when we get there again. -What I meant was charge up Mega Crush, start boss battle, use Mega Crush, but that doesn't work on a few bosses(if you do this at the Deerburn fight, you'll get sabre-kicked when you finish) -Good thing you said good.

If you can just find a .duc file with highest diffculty unlocked. You just would have to open it with in the first few frames of your tas. Then again when ever you played it back. So you could tas it on the highest diffculty it just probably wouldn't be except by tasvideos.
There are some exceptions (Chrono Trigger NG+ comes to mind) but it's a restricted area, so be careful. However, that's probably not what you're talking about. Also, there are a couple useful things that come to mind when TASing, no? EDIT: I just beat this game, so here is a final boss strategy that should be super effective! 1.As soon as it starts, use Atlas with her rapid-fire dual cannons(could require sub tanks, items, improved total health or just simply dodging) until the last form("god" form) 2.Use Giga crush, and then immediately after... 3.Use Model ZX's Rolling Slash on him 4.Skip text, end movie, you killed him! I beat it within a minute this way.

What do you mean by 'shooting indefinitely'? Do you mean simply rapid firing? That's not anything new. And I knew about pressing start to skip cutscenes, but thanks either way. Now, I have a few questions. First, what's the fastest way of movement?
    - Model A dashing - Model A bunny-hopping (constantly dash-jumping) - Model A alternating dashing and dash-jumping - Buckfire dashing - Aeolus' air dash? - Above model A methods with Siarnaq? - Argoyle's dash
Second, what do you think of the following route: [SPOILER ALERT] -Intro stage, duh (character to be decided) -Hunter Base, go to Train, fight Buckfire [plot-related warp to Train 1: go to Hunter Base 1 to get Red Key] -Go from Hunter Base 1 to Train 1 and get Train 1 checkpoint -Go to Tower of Verdure, get checkpoint 1 (beat Rospark with Model A) -after warping from ToV4 to ToV1 transerver, warp to ToV1 checkpoint -go to Arctic Ice Floe, beat Chronoforce with Buckfire -go through Oil Field, beat Atlas with Rospark (?) -warp to Train 1, go to Legion HQ, beat Siarnaq with Model A (?) -warp to Highway, beat Thetis with Buckfire -warp to Floating Ruins, beat Aeolus with Thetis -warp to Scrapyard, beat Vulturon with [undecided] -warp to Control Center, beat Queenbee with Rospark (?) -Quarry: Beat Model ZX with Model A (?) -go to Bio Lab, get checkpoint 1, beat Bifrost with Model ZX*, get checkpoint 4 -warp to Bio Lab 1, go to Waterfall Ruins, get checkpoint 1, beat Argoyle & Ugoyle with Model ZX* -warp to Waterfall Ruins 1, go to Mysterious Lab, beat Hedgeshock with Model ZX* -warp to Bio Lab 4, use special transerver to go to Undersea Volcano -beat Prometheus and Pandora with Model ZX* [plot-related warp to Hunters Base 1] -go to Ouroboros -beat all bosses with Model ZX* [SPOILER ALERT END] *I found an exploit (at least in my European ZXA) where if during Model ZX's jump slash, uppercut (Ashe) and maybe downstab (Grey) keeps damaging the opponent as long as the hitbox keeps touching them, allowing Model ZX to do a lot of damage very quickly. I don't know if it works in other versions besides the one I have.
Couple things to say:
-Yes, by 'shooting indefinitely' I mean rapid firing. -I dunno what's fastest, but I know you can dash-jump up walls. -Beat Queenbee with Aeolus, he's electric -Beat ZX with Model A, when he switches to the wall-jump attack use Atlas(she can fire upward) -I can figure out who to beat Vultron with, except I don't have time right now -For all bosses, start with Mega Crush, then switch to optimal character -The exploit also works in my late-release American version.

And I find it hard to believe using Rospark on bosses is beneficial.
Fire type bosses(Atlas and Queenbee) are weak to Electric types(Rospark and Aeolus)

We already know that it was possible to triple jump as Shell Mario/Luigi and yes it is 48. This is the only way to get max speed since spinning in the shell is notably slower :).
I think you can land on an enemy after the triple jump and then triple jump from there. Also, if you get a size-increasing item at the EXACT ceiling next to a wall, you move while you're powering up going through the wall.

And Ashe, when at point-blank range, can shoot indefinetly. Also, press START to skip cutcenes.

We haven't got everything yet but here are some of the details. Hopefully someone in this topic who can read memory values can work out the rest. Mario running, jumping, triple jumping, etc - 48 speed (going left or right at max speed) Shell mario - running jump, etc - 48 speed (Similar to above but wearing a shell) Shell mario spinning - 44 speed. (When Mario hides inside the shell and moves left or right) Shell mario spinning and jumping - 44 speed (Jump when the shell is spinning). Horizontal Speed tier.
Rank A 1. *Star Mario (Running at max speed, stick his arms out) Rank B 2. Star Mario (Jumps at max speed "screwattack") 2. **Normal Mario (Running at max speed) 2. ***Normal Mario (Jumps at max speed) Rank C 5 Shell Mario (Spinning in his shell) 5 Star Shell Mario (Spinning in his shell with the star power up) 5 Shell Mario (A jump whilst spinning at the same time) *Mario doesn't get extra speed from the star when shell spinning, ** Running in max speed without the star only applies to, Small, Super, Fire and possibly Mini forms, Shell form does not let Mario/Luigi stick their arms out. *** Non-shell power ups are much easier to perform Triples jumps in real time mainly because it doesn't get interrupted to do something else like the Blue Shell does. The only way to get Shell Mario's speed to be in Rank B is to keep on jumping before Mario starts to shell spin.
I've noticed it is possible to triple jump in the shell (this game is what NSMB stands for) and I was wondering what that speed is. It's probably 48 as you said, but still....

This would be a fun to watch (and easy (for me) to do) TAS for these 3 reasons: 1.Star Wars+Lego+100%=Awesome 2.The J-Jump glitch 3.Minigames+Perfect reflexes also equals awesome. Commencing to route-plan/start...(Or do both at the same time)

Also there's a mandatory several minute wait perioid late in the game but apparently it can be bypassed with a button press code. Wonder why they put that in.

Actually, I lied. It's all Kongregate's fault. ;) Plus, I'm a newbie who happens to suck at frame-by-frame swordfighting. I should do LarryBoy first. (Or maybe pull research into a glitched run(entering up door with up+down))

No, he means which graphics card is built into your computer. DirectX is just a graphical frontend required for a lot of games. Go to Start->Run, then type in "devmgmt.msc". Double-click on Graphics Card, and there you are.
Ummmm... It's not there.

If the "DS" is visible, you could show the input on it, too. So when A is being pressed in the movie, the A on the DS would be pressed as well. And so on. It would probably be a ***** to implement, though. But it would make the movie extra 1337. :)
This could be done in video editing for this and other systems. Say, for Super Mario World, if A, B, X, and Y are pressed on frame 5465, then stick frame 5465 on a TV screen, below that would be a pic of somebody pressing A, B, X, and Y(same pic as the TV). Do that for every frame in the movie, and tah-dah! Movie Leetness Upgraded!(once I get Sony Vegas (AKA Christmas) I'll do a proof-of-concept)

Thats strange... Even when i mess up the 3D Settings i don't get those colors. Does this problem appear with every game? If yes, pls give us your system. This COULD be a Graphic Card problem.
Yes(by every game I mean this and New Super Mario Bros), and as far as I can tell I have an Acer system. I could ask my dad about it though. It could be a problem with [right click desktop--properties--customize], my windows are white instead of grey.
