Oh but it did use new strategies and tricks. -The Pharaoh Shot trick -Using Balloons at the bottom of the ladder to climb faster -Making use of only one Ring Boomerang for multiple hits -Using different strategies for stages such as Skull Man's stage -New route for fighting bosses in Wily 3 There are more new tricks that were used too. This run excelled in being more than just a "faster version" of the old run; it has new stuff too. Maybe it could be improved by a minute but I think that this is a good start.

So glad I put that in there... :) I didn't know about the glitch at the time and thought it only worked in Dive Man's stage.

I came across my Theory of Lag when I was playing Mr. X Stage 1 from Mega Man 6 and I was in the fifth room (the one that has the breakable window). At that room I was facing the left near the edge of the screen and doing turbo A & B. I noticed that when the song changed to the next portion there was a frame of lag. That was some very useful information on how lag in an NES game works kuja killer. T3h Icy, don't worry I will definitely submit my run tomorrow! :D Also about submitting my movie, it's not that I don't want to submit it but I want to find a perfect time for it and tomorrow is the perfect time for it! :D

Just relax guys. I will have this lag thing all figured out. In fact music actually causes lag in the game because of the extra calculations that the game has to perform (the music/sound addresses are in 00070X). Also I figured out why there is lag every 8 pixels you advance and that is because the graphics on both sides of the screen have to change which is also a factor in the number of calculations in the hex addresses. As a result, I have come to the conclusion that the more stuff that the hex addresses have to do over time, the more likely there will be lag later on in the game. I still never figured out why Mega Man 3 had to be so laggy (I honestly tried many times to improve Top Man's stage but no matter what I just couldn't improve it)! :( Oh well... Kind of an ingenious theory on lag don't you think? ;)

I might actually redo the Back to the Future run but this time it will be for high score (I will not submit it, just post it in this forum). I was thinking of doing the dance mini-game and the estimated score is 15000 for each time, then I lose on purpose and get at least 10000 points on the previous street level. I get an extra life every 30000 points which means I will have enough extra lives to last me to 999990 points which is the max number. I never got that high but I assume that is the max number.

I liked these. Awesome to see some fresh strategies.
Thanks! :D BTW, I liked the catchphrases you used for those! XD

I know, right? And get this: if you look in the hex editor (Rom File section) of the Japanese version (addresses 00A900 through 00ADFF), to the right of the hexadecimal numbers you can see the text for the game and they actually spelled the word "great" wrong too (they spelled it "grate" but it got fixed in the U.S. version). Apparently the Japanese version was supposed to have an actual English (or Engrish) ending but for some reason they just left it as two Japanese letters (they either forgot about it or didn't want bad translations in the game).

For Christmas, can we have all 4 Mega Man runs put up for publication? :D
That would be awesome! :) Unfortunately, I have a lot of progress to make if I want to submit MM3 and MM5. I have my MM4 run from November of last year and my MM6 run (which only needs the last 2 stages finished). Maybe there's someone else who is already on it! :D But don't worry, I'll get as much done as I can. In fact, I have found ways to save more time on my run: Spark Man's revisited stage (2nd part): http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1318359688/Rockman%203%20-%20Dr.%20Wily%20no%20Saigo%21%20%28J%29-stage0A.fm2 Needle Man's revisited stage (Air Man): http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/381579590/Rockman%203%20-%20Dr.%20Wily%20no%20Saigo%21%20%28J%29-stage08boss.fm2

I found the best time saver for Wood Man in Shadow Man's revisited stage: http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1142902372/Rockman%203%20-%20Dr.%20Wily%20no%20Saigo%21%20%28J%29-stage0B.fm2 I did the calculations! This saves about 2 seconds (127 frames)! Of course the energy will take 12 more frames to recover because of the power up that's in the next room.

Lol, nice. Wire is really abusable in a lot of places, it seems. Your recent videos inspired me to make another glitch video, this time in the boss refights in Mega Man 1.
That's awesome! :) I also have some important stuff about the MM4 run: The hex addresses for the energy balls after killing a boss in Mega Man 4 are located in 000300 through 0003FF. The x-axis where the boss is defeated is located in 000381 and the y-axis for it is located in 000343. This means that the vertical position for the boss does matter after all.

Glitches and Tricks Part 4 I found a few cool things about collecting Wire and Balloon. See the last two clips. ;D
Whoa! This is some awesome stuff! I like watching your videos! They are so awesome! :D I don't care if some of those glitches are useless, they are still fun to watch and it is fun coming across cool/interesting glitches in this game! Maybe some of this can develop ideas for useful glitches in this TAS! :D

About the Back to the Future run, I found a way that I could luck manipulate enemies to get a higher score and to save time in the cafe stage (not that I'm submitting another run but I thought I would show you all this): http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1269539271/GlitchMan-Back%20to%20the%20Future%20%28U%29-new%20score.fm2 It turns out that if I destroy the enemies at the right time, another enemy that is worth more points can come up. Also, in the cafe stage I hit the waitress with an ice cream sundae/milkshake because she is blocking the path of the bullies. This saved 17.95 seconds which means that it's probably a good thing that this run got rejected. :)

On second thought I will just go ahead and post the WIP right now to show you all the time saver in the 3rd room (1st large oil pit) that I was talking about. Even though I wasn't done with that stage, I didn't want to keep you guys waiting: http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1563515452/Mega%20Man%206%20%28U%29%20by%20GlitchMan%28WIP10%29.fm2 I'm also having luck manipulation problems with enemies again (I seem to be running into that problem a lot lately)! They just won't stop dropping those flames that cause lag. :(

Awesome! You and T3h Icy are really awesome at finding glitches in Mega Man games. :) Also, I edited a post in the Mega Man 6 topic. I did this to avoid having multiple posts at one time.

I think that by switching to Top Spin after killing Top Man in the boss refights stage (Wily 4) I think that can save time and it would save even more time because I won't have to collect as many refills for the Shadow Blade at the end of this stage.

Thanks! :D Edit (11/7/2009): I just finished the 1st and 2nd rooms of Flame Man's level! I just passed the first large oil pit on the 3rd room and boy did I ever find a big time saver (20 frames off my most recent WIP that I posted on here)! I'll post my newest WIP when I'm done with that stage! :D

I just remembered. Wasn't there something about opening one of the doors and warping like 20 floors up?
Ya know, I always wondered why there were doors on each floor. What happens when you go in them anyway? (never played the game myself)
You press B to open the door and one of three things will happen: there is nothing in the door, a ghost pops out of it, or you get some kind of health refill (don't know what it's supposed to be).

Please don't reject this run because if you do, I'm sure noone would ever attempt to TAS this game ever again.... Oh, that and because this run was somewhat entertaining.
It's all right. This game is just not meant for a TAS. It is just too bland playing the same stages 16 times in a row even with the teleportation glitches. At least I gave it a try! :D

Get the bowling ball and the skateboard as early as possible for the fastest time. Aim for exactly 50 in the cafe and school stages. Hint: Hit the faraway Biff for hit number 50 and let the nearby Biff throw you out of the cafe. The dance hall stage you need to hit every note. For the last stage, keep the speed at 88 mph and avoid every single lightning bolt to get back to the future (or 1985).
You're kind of late because I had already submitted this movie (which will probably get rejected for obvious reasons). I was mostly going for highest possible score anyway. I already did all of those you mentioned except for the cafe and school. Now I know why my run was 1 minute slower than Supper's run. That stuff you mentioned is a good way to get fastest time. Thanks for sharing that information. :)
